Noobitizer Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Hey guys it me Charles, Im one of the rides supervisors who ran tony hawk for media day. Let me just say that it is nice to hear that everyone is enjoying Tony Hawks Big Spin. Its been close to 5 years since we received a new coaster and I know a lot of people were bummed to hear we were getting a "Family Coaster". Tony Hawk however won't disappoint, its a great coaster and we are very proud of it. With the way Discovery Kingdom has been improving I hope many more of you will come for a visit and see just how much has changed. -Charles

Goliath513 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Sean, Kelly, Eric, Ryan- It was awesome meeting up with you all for Coasters After Dark. Too bad you were still working Ryan. Tony Hawk's Big Spin was great and is a nice solid addition to the park! Adam- Too bad we didn't met up for the night time riding. My pictures along with my ride review, along with R.C.'s pictures and ride review can be found in my opening day photo TR thread here. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43858

Voyage_luvr Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 It's not quite as cool as the one at Six Flags St. Louis, but it looks very nice. I liked the little skateboard you got in the goodie bag, that was pretty neat. Thanks for posting this.
Coaster Palooza Posted May 27, 2008 Author Posted May 27, 2008 ^^I have to say that I hate messing up names and other facts. I'm sorry I messed up the names, misspelled sushi, and probably didn't get the wasabi quote right. I need to write things down next time. I hope this didn't come off as sarcastic, I am truly sorry about this. It was a really great event and I loved going to Coasters After Dark the next day. SFDK is doing a great job! Thanks so much everyone.
spellgo Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I will hope to visit Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in a month or two to experience Tony Hawk's Big Spin... As well as to get it''s credit. Anyways, last year I went to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and visited the indoor theme park, Galaxyland inside the West Edmonton Mall. They recently opened Galaxy Orbiter when I was there and I was able to experience my first spinning wild mouse type coaster. Galaxy Orbiter is created by the same manufacturers of THBS, Gerstlauer. It will be interesting to see how this model from Gerstlauer is like. Based on the looks it has more elements than Galaxy Orbiter. Although, what made Galaxy Orbiter unique is that it was custom built (obviously) to fit inside the indoor park of the mall. If the post still exist, check out my trip report to Galaxyland in Edmonton, Canada which was posted last year.
