milst1
We're trying to decide what to do on a newly freed-up weekend. We live in NYC. Here are the possible trips we're considering. These are all parks for which we do not currently have 2008 visits planned (or completed). I'll put a star next to parks that either one or both of us haven't visited yet (pretty much all of these). We would leave Friday night and come back Sunday night. Thanks for your help! Cedar Point Dollywood* (maybe swing down to Ghost Town in the Sky*?) Hersheypark*/Knoebel's* Canada's Wonderland*/Darien Lake* Jersey Shore Parks* Kennywood*/Idlewild* Valleyfair*/Nickelodeon Universe* SFNE* SF St. Louis* Worlds of Fun* Carowinds* Hard Rock Park* Lake Winnepesaukah* (willing to consider because lots to see in area) Other ideas are also welcome. Thanks.
OldJJman
Personally, due to the fact that you'll be out on a weekend in the end of June... (busy for the more major parks) I'd vote for Hershey/Knoebel's. Both have a great atmosphere, good selection of rides at both parks, and pretty descent food as well. Good luck with your decision. DBru
I'd be debating between 2 choices: 1.) Hersheypark*/Knoebels* 2.) Canada's Wonderland*/Darien Lake* Both HP and CW are full of thrills, but CW is full of great atmosphere, and my personal favorite of the former Paramount Parks! Darien Lake has more to do than Knoebels, but Knoebels is a lot better quality. It's a hard decision...
downunder
SFNE would be an option if you are willing to plonk down some extra dough on a Gold Flqash Pass to beat the crowds.
larrygator
Why don't you try Dollywood and Lake Winnie, they are pretty close together. Darien Lake has more to do than Knoebels, but Knoebels is a lot better quality. You might get some arguments on this. By this I mean when I was at DL I only had the inclination to ride 3 flats. At Knoebels there are a dozens that I always try to ride every time I visit.
Dougerz
Hersheypark & Knoebels would be your best bang for the bucks by far. Knoebel's has a lot of stuff to do and the price isn't all that steep. Plus, if you have a puppy with you along for the ride, you can take them into the park. If you do go to Knoebels, ride the Phoenix several times. Massive air throughout the ride and a lot of fun.
