Sir Clinksalot Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 http://www.timesheraldonline.com/ci_2837318 I don't know why a kid who works at Six Flags thought he was smart enough to fool anybody. Then again, $10 to park is ridiculous, maybe they had it coming. Here is the story: Two teen employees arrested after alleged bogus Marine World robberyBy J.M. BROWN, Times-Herald staff writer Vallejo police have arrested two teens on conspiracy and burglary charges in connection with a bogus robbery designed to filch $2,300 from Six Flags Marine World's parking operation. Eric L. Hicks, 18, of Vallejo, and a 17-year-old Marine World parking attendant were arrested Wednesday after police say the pair admitted to cooking up an armed robbery story that masked their own theft of parking proceeds. The Times-Herald does not name juvenile suspects. Hicks pleaded not guilty Friday to grand theft and criminal conspiracy charges when he appeared in Solano County Superior Court. The Hicks family declined comment on the matter. The 17-year-old, a Fairfield resident, was booked into Solano County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of grand theft, conspiracy and embezzlement charges. Six Flags Marine World spokesman Paul Garcia said he didn't know of the police department's conclusion beyond being told the armed robbery case had been resolved. It's best to leave the matter to the Vallejo police, he added. About 11 a.m. Wednesday, the 17-year-old first told officers he was working at the parking attendant's booth, where cash proceeds lay on a counter "instead of in his apron because it was easier to manage," Sgt. Herman Robinson said. The boy told officers a man in a brown Chevrolet El Camino drove up wearing a black ski mask, Robinson said. The boy said the man pointed a large handgun at him but did not speak. The boy told police he "assumed it was a robbery," and gave the suspect the cash, Robinson said. The boy also said he did not write down the suspect's license plate number. Investigators eventually grew suspicious of the boy's story, Robinson said, noting that he did not seem stressed even though he had supposedly just been robbed at gunpoint. "Ultimately, the story unraveled, which led to a friend of his (Hicks), who coincidentally drove an El Camino," Robinson said. Hicks was arrested at police headquarters after admitting to the conspiracy, Detective Joe McCarthy wrote in an arrest report. Hicks led police to a residence, where $2,300 from the parking lot was found.
PhishyBrewer Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 The ghetto of the bay area is the perfect place for an amusentment park. Hope the Wayans Bros get to do that park in O-Town. Take some stress off Valle-HO! Foshizzle, my nizzle!
CoasterFanatic Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 I heard they were going to rob the place and then they found out it was owned by Six Flags. After hearing the bad news, they abandoned their plans figuring they would have to GIVE the park money.
Coasters 4 ever Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Maybe video games really are teaching teenagers how to commit crimes...
Skramp Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 The sad part is these guys were supposed to keep the money out so they could pay all the park employees on their way out. Didn't you know that Six Flags now pays their employees by the day with money from parking? You have to stop on your way out and get your money.
FlyingScooter Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Grand Theft Auto: 6 Flags Edition! Yes, you too can hyjack Amusement rides, run down patrons and rob the parking lot! All the thrills of RCT3 with all the blood and gore you've come to expect from both GTA and 6 Flags! sorry, couldn't resist.
dandaman Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 I found these parts of the article very funny, when looked at from a "redneck" point of view: Hicks pleaded not guilty Friday to grand theft and criminal conspiracy charges when he appeared in Solano County Superior Court. The Hicks family declined comment on the matter. Hicks was arrested at police headquarters after admitting to the conspiracy, Detective Joe McCarthy wrote in an arrest report. Hicks led police to a residence, where $2,300 from the parking lot was found. My favourite: "Hicks was arrested..."
