spaceace12 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Arrived at the park shortly after opening and headed straight for Cornball. Corball was kicking it still, awesome ride like normal. Hurricane was pretty good too, but a little rough. Then it was onto Lost Coaster. It is amazing what a different mindset wil do to your coaster thoughts. Last year when I rode it, I went in with the thoughts of it was a rough coaster. This time I went in to just take it for what it is. Right out of the station loading area, brakes shut and we sat about 3 feet from where we loaded. About 10 minutes later the station brake was released and went into the elevator lift. Then they had to clear the computer or something, so we sat for a few more minutes. Finally we were on the way, it was just fun, strange and had air time. Rode Galaxi and Tiger’rr and those were normal rides like last year. Also rode my first Farris wheel, and would have rode it more but the weather wasn’t the best. It was cold and breezy on the ground and breezy and colder the higher you got. Now onto the changes I seen or things I don’t like. The first thing I noticed is that the place where you could stand last year in front of Galaxi to see those man eating carp, there is now a game building. Another thing that really stuck out was the policy of rerides. While on Cornball, I wanted to ride again and asked the ride op if I could just stay in my seat and the answer was no. I had to get up and walk down and back around and get in the exact same seat. They also redid the façade on one side of the midway game and shop buildings, I didn’t see this last year, but apparently, they took down the old Fascination sign and didn’t put it back up. There is also a new sign on the ride side of the building. Food wise all I had all day was a thing of cheese sticks, a hamburger and a drink. Those cost 11 dollars, I don’t know if this is a new price or not. I ate at the tiger’s den because the boat restraunt was closed. The cruise boat wasn’t running either, but that is because the lake was low. They had to lower both Lake Schaffer and the one above it for some recovery and repairs from the flooding (recover sunk boats, remove wood from docks that fell in, and make the lake safe for skiers this summer). On the Steel Hawg front, the placement isn’t bad as I first thought it would be. It is out of the way, but not by much. Vertical construction has begun also. This is my first Farris wheel ever. Opening day had many things not complete. no boat rides today I don't like where they placed this building New games buildings. Closest one is where Chaos used to be. The other one was nothing but standing room to see the man eating carp repainted water slides new sign Something SFMM doesn't have Again bright colors old facade 2 things are wrong with this pic. Wait, I thought it was a monster trucks tiki god statue mad, lake level low. No water on me today. Hi Cameron Wait, all these bright colors, seems like I am at Cedar Point New entrance to the beach. closed Just wondering if anyone knows what coaster this is? Monster trucks replaces Dinosaur 3d movie. I actually did this and it was quite interesting. Double shot New facade on Fascination building Open Gate, no I didn't go in. blueprints, looks like a footer That is going to be low to the ground Steel Hawg vertical contruction closer view You can see how much lower the lake is from normal Instead of paying for admission right after the suspension bridge and getting the pop band below the big wheel, you now pay for the admission and pop band right at the south gate I made it through the bad Indiana roads
robbalvey Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 It would appear to be a photo of Knott's Boomerang before the track was pained purple. You can even see the trunk of the palm trees right next to the person's right thumb.
AllenA07 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 The coaster in question looks like Boomerang at Knott's Berry Farm before it got repainted. However I'm sure there are several other Boomerang models out there with the exact same color scheme.
ginzo Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 While I don't like what they did with the Skyride, everything else looks fine. Thanks for posting this! Instead of paying for admission right after the suspension bridge and getting the pop band below the big wheel, you now pay for the admission and pop band right at the south gate This sounds like an improvement. The old system of paying twice was confusing.
coaster05 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 I personally like the new skyride, though I don't think it looks anything like CP. The game buildings I am not totally sold on, they are very basic looking. I am excited to visit once Steel Hawg is done.
