RudyIsMe Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Hey guys! What's up! this is my first post on the forum! anyway... I'm going to Japan for 3 weeks in August, and I was wondering if there were any stand-out parks I should be visiting while I'm there. As a Disney fanatic, Tokyo Disney is one of my main draws for going, so obviously I'll be going there, but what else must I see? I'm kind of interested in going to Mitsui Greenland because it looks so bizarre...but then again..there's lots of bizarre in Japan. I've only recently discovered your site and I'm definitely interested in taking TPR trips in the future. Had I known about them before committing to my current Japan trip, I just might have been on yours. yeh..thanks guys..
Tanks4me05 Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 http://rcdb.com/pr.htm?pstatus=141&location=26417 Here is a list of all existing Japan parks as of this time. Here is my criteria for a park: If it doesn't have any rcdb pictures, and if it doesn't have any coasters larger than a kiddie coaster, I won't go to that park, unless people have mentioned that this place is awesome even without a family or larger coaster, I will go then. There are nearly 40 parks in Japan that fit that criteria, but the total list is currently at 121.
spaceace12 Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 If I was you, I would look at TPR's 2007 Japan trip. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38591&highlight=japan+trip
Tanks4me05 Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 I might also mention these parks: (I have never been out of the GMT-5 Timezone, so my opinions of the parks are purely from other people's TR's and rcdb pictures.) Rusutsu Resort - Let's just put it this way, they have the only Togo Ultratwister with a DIVE LOOP. Japan Monkey Park - It has monkeys, need I say more? Lina World - for some reason, I think the atmosphere of this park is amazing.
SharkTums Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 We also have a Japan Trip Planning Guide from 2005 that will help. Pretty much all of the parks have something interesting or quirky about them, you're sure to have a blast!
Tanks4me05 Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Oh, I almost forgot: Baishinji Park. http://rcdb.com/ig3024.htm?picture=2 I call this place RCT land for a reason.
RudyIsMe Posted April 18, 2008 Author Posted April 18, 2008 Excellent! This will really help. I'm still wondering though if there are any parks that really stand out above the rest. ...like how in the states Cedar Point and Six Flags Magic Mountain would be a lot higher on the list than a tons of other parks, for example.
Meteornotes Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 This is only my dumb opinion, but Mitsui Greenland and Spaceworld were the stand out parks to me in Japan. Aside from the Disney parks, obviously, which are just amazing and are easily the best Disney parks anywhere. I'm not sure where you're traveling to, but if you're in the area of the first two parks I mentioned, I'd make the effort to visit them. dt
cfc Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 ^I agree--Mitsui Greenland and Space World are great. Parque Espana is awesome, too (but a bit off the beaten track, I think).
