Flippero95
Hello! We're making plans for our Disney trip in June. I have my reservations (Port Orleans Riverside) and my ADRs. My husband is a golfer and would like to play one or two mornings while we are there. We are at the point in the timeline where we need to book tee times. Does anyone have any advice/recomendation as far as the courses are concerned? Thank you!
SharkTums
Not a golfer so I can't help you...but I'll move this to the main board and hopefully we have someone who can make some recommendations!
BeemerBoy
They're all good courses, but pretty overpriced in my opinion. If he's willing to pay, then I'd suggest Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge. Both are challenging, but fair tests, and definitely my favorites of the group (I've played them all). Now if it were up to me, I'd bypass the Disney courses and hit up some of the surrounding courses around Orlando. First, since it's so close to Disney property, and they actually built the place, I'd recommend Celebration. I've played several rounds there, and always enjoyed the place. Let me know if what he's most interested in, and I'll be glad to help you find the right places. And yes, plan to play as early as possible. The mid-afternoon Florida heat can make a round less enjoyable.
Hercules
^ Not really a big fan of the layout at Celebration. It is a very nice course and a very nice experience, however, I think the layout is kind of elementary, and didn't really find the course overly challenging to be honest. As long as you place the ball in the right spots and strike the ball with accuracy, it's a relatively easy course. There is a lot of trouble out in the fairways though if you aren't careful. As I have not been to Disney to play the courses there, I can also suggest something away from the resort, but near the park. I would suggest Stoneybrook It is a bit of a challenge even though it is a relatively short course. It has a bit of a quirky layout, and you kind of have to be careful off of the tees. The price is just right too.
Flippero95
Thank you Elissa, for moving the thread. I will suggest looking elsewhere in Orlando as well as on property. Keep the good ideas coming, everyone.
coasterdude5
The course near the Shades of Green resort where I stay looks nice - it seems pretty popular as well.
BeemerBoy
Jay, you're right about Celebration. It's not the toughest track in the world, but it's always been a "fun" one to play for me. And being a FL resident, we always got great rates on it. I'm not sure what his skill level is, so a good cross section of courses is good. Of course, between you and me, you'd probably whoop me. At best, when I was playing consistently, I was a a 12 handicap from the blues. Another good course nearby that I recommend is Falcon's Fire. Hercules
^ Eh, not anymore. You could probably hang with me (or me hang with you). I haven't played since last Father's Day, and my conference championship finish last year was none to be desired. Back in high school and early into college I was a 1 handicap from the blues, but I would be lucky to do that these days. You are right, not sure about his skill level, so a good mix of course offerings would be good. I haven't played there, but Falcon's Fire does look pretty sweet. Can you believe that I have played courses in Florida, and have not been to the parks down there? I was a deprived kid!
