TheStig Posted April 4, 2008 Author Share Posted April 4, 2008 And to think, TC would have prevented that! I'm kind of indifferent about the removal of TC. Sure it actually brings out the "skill" of each driver a bit more, but it also has been the reason for a couple of crashes/spins already in this season. I really don't care that its gone, but at the same time I'm also wondering if it was completely necessary to do so. Bahrain should be a good race. You can't really tell anything from the Friday practices, but Saturday practice and qualifying should provide some more info for us. I do like that the teams are getting "mixed up" more this year rather that it being mostly the same starting and finishing order like last year. Most of the guys who have been racing for years will take their hands off the wheel to prevent them from breaking their wrist. Im glad its looking like a 3 team championship so far. Scaparri Posted April 4, 2008 Share Posted April 4, 2008 ^Yeah, it's amazing how often I see drivers keep their hands on the wheel in top level series, like F1 or Indycar. Do they really not know any better, do they not realize how close the barrier is, or is it just less of a threat for some reason now? As for the traction control issue, while it may have caused a few crashes so far, I think it's definitely a great improvement. If too many technological advancements are added then you threaten to neglect the skill of the driver. If it becomes a serious safety issue, then I'll be all about re-instating TC. And by that, I don't mean waiting 'til somebody gets seriously injured or killed. But rather, if the number of shunts seriously increases in quantity or severity, then re-instate it. However, for now, I figure if these are the best drivers in the world, then it shouldn't affect how often they take the car off course too much. Just my thoughts. And while we're on the topic of crashes, after Canada last year, I'm pretty sure Robert Kubica is indestructible. How he came out of that with just a concussion and a sprained ankle blows my mind. He has just gotten Pole today. He might be running light on fuel, but he did the last three right-handers with a big flatspot on the loaded tyre, so its still a very impressive performance.
