PoisonedPirate
Where's Ricky Bobby? Or Cole Trickle? Hey mcjaco you made me spill my macchiato! (roughly translates to me spitting out my drink at your comment lol!) I love that film! Anyway back to F1 I think Hamilton will win this year unless McLaren forces him to lose again... that last race (when his tire burst) was a bit suspicious no? CCJared
Sorry if i sound like i am having a rant, but that is not the case. Hamilton, sure he may be a good driver, but in my 7 years of watching Formula One i have never seen a driver become quite so overhyped in one year. I think that altough he may have talent, and up for winning the Championship title this year, he is still a rookie. He needs to have more time to settle into the sport, and if McLaren had'nt cheated last year, then maybe we'd all be think who is Hamilton. Now he may be british, like i am, but that does'nt automatically make me support him. I stay as i always have since i started watching the sport a loyal fan of the renault F1 team. Im not sure how a team could make a tyre burst on cue. I still think that Hamilton is probably the most talented driver on the grid. Im not a fan of his, (especially as he seems to be avoiding the GPDA), but I respect his skill. I saw him race in GP2 and it was obvious even then that he had that extra something that Senna and Shuey both had. Id love to see Kovy come through well. He also has tons of talent. Fallen Heretic
That, Monza, and the GP of Europe are the three races I really really want to attend (plus there will be a credit there soon at the Ring!) Sadly, you will need to find another Motorsport event to get that credit, the Ring is off the calendar. For the next seven (I think) years, the Euro GP is being held in Spain. McLaren and Ferrari have always had a big rivalry, right back to the Hakkinen vs Shumacher years. That why Ron Dennis was looking so chuffed when it was Shuey who had to present him with the constructors trophy last season. F1 back on BBC? Didnt see that one comming. I wonder if the commentary team will move to the BBC as well, much like they did when it went from BBC to ITV? Maybe they will bring back the old classic Formula 1 theme from my youth? hansrubens
^ You can visit the ring in '09. It will be hosting the German GP. So the German GP will use two circuits this year on the Hockenheimring and next year on the nurburgring. You can make it a combo with their new rocket coaster. The tyre bust was during qualifying (Q3). He was doing well in the actual race, but he hit the limiter switch and couldn't disengage it so that cost him that race. The race before was the teams fault as the kept him out an extra lap on really REALLY bad tires, so he went off, beached it, and would have to wait for his chance in Brazil to try again (which obviously didn't happen). He is a VERY talented driver, and I don't *hate* him, but Im not a fan either. Actually, I really dislike his father more than anyone else F1 related. All of his comments like "my son is the best driver in the world" and "We are going to win it all next year!" are a bit ignorant and annoying. Yes, I'd be proud too if my kid was as good at something like Hamilton is, but making coments like that would be over the line.
Fallen Heretic
^cool, I didnt realise they were going to alternate it. Ive never been to the Ring before, I should really get myself along there. I would also like to get some good tyres on my Celica and take it round the old course. Id rather do it in a RWD car, but its all Ive got just now. Of course, Id have to learn proper performance driving first.

nemesis-storm
What do y'all think about what happened to DC during P1 yesterday? Especially the way the FIA handled it? Regardless of what happened, I think this might be DC's last year in racing. I think DC's 'incident' was very odd indeed. For such what was seemingly a small 'off' over the kerbs it caused a major damage to car. All due to the suspension failure. In light of car being damaged badly I think the FIA's request to check the Red Bull cars are safe is a valid one. I hope all four of the Red Bull cars are able to qualify & race. I've never been a big fan of DC, but I hope he's round to race a couple more years yet. However with Vettel & Bourdais doing well (so far) for Torro Rosso, they are viable candidates to replace him in 09, especially with the talk of the Torro Rosso being sold of. Fallen Heretic
Well, looks like McLarean arent going to have it all their own way afterall. I always thought if McLarean had a dominant car out the box they would take the wins. However, with Ferrari looking back on form, and other teams looking like catching up in when it hits Barcelona, Im wondering if two relitave rookies will hamper McLarens development. There was still a Ferrari engine failure though. that has to concern them a bit. What I do like is that it looks like anybodys game for the places below the Ferraris. For so long F1 has been a two horse race, its refreshing to see several other faces on the podium. Could be an interesting season. I think DC will keep racing as long as he has a drive. Teams may well want to use his experience to help develop younger drivers, but I dont think he will ever be the lead driver. I think the same goes for Barracello. hansrubens
Ferrari will really be unbeatable if their drivers won't make those stupid mistakes anymore. Massa spun out of the race while the both ferrari's were comfortably in the lead.
jason10
I am not an F1 fan myself but, my dad works for McLaren-Mercedes! I am so proud of him. He is in a job he loves. I is obsesed with F1! What's his job? He is a Metrolagist. He measures all of the parts of the engines using special probe things! So exciting. Maybe I can ask my dad about McLaren-Mercedes relating to the 2008 season of F1! Hope to post some info if he is alowed (probably not but worth a try!) Scaparri
Unfortunately, I've missed both GPs so far because of spring break, but it's good to see Nico Rosberg doing so well. I'm a long-time Williams fan. I'm so bummed that the USGP isn't returning this year. It wasn't the greatest circuit, but the race was still a lot of fun to go to. 2007 was definitely the best of the four I went to. Hopefully the race will come back in the not too distant future. willski
I always watch the F1 races. This will be the first year I will miss a race. Going to Dorney Park On may 25 during our USA trip when the Monaco GP will be held. It's on the Speed Network, which is on pretty much all basic cable in the United States. So it will be on in your hotel room at around 6 or 7 am. That way, you don't miss a race! The Malaysian GP was too late for me, I fell asleep 10 laps in. It was well after 2:30 am, and I just couldn't do it.
