richa_eire
Hi All Long time reader of the forums, first time poster looking for some trip planning advice. Next summer we are travelling to Helsinki for an event but want to take in some parks whilst there. At the moment it looks like we are flying into Tampere and then travelling down to Helsinki. So it looks like Sarkanniemi and Linnanmaki are definites. We are bringing the kids who will be aged 10, 8 and 5 when we travel. Do you think these park have enough to keep younger visitors occupied. Although the two oldest have both ridden Tonnerre de Zeus and Gouderix at Parc Asterix (frequently!!). Then the next question is, are there other parks easily accessible ? Is Power Park within striking distance of either Tampere or Helsinki ?? Any help/advice would be much appreciated..... and in 2009 we are heading for Florida so there will be more advice needed then. Thanks Richard
SharkTums
The kids will definitely enjoy Linnanmaki and Sarkaniemi!!! Power Park is a bit of a haul north of Tampere. At least 3 hours each way if I remember correctly.
richa_eire
Thanks for this - due to time limitations looks like its just the two parks then.... still Power Park becomes a reason for another Finland trip
matteocrepaldi
I use this one instead of opening a new one; does anybody know how to get from Helsinki to Power Park using public transportations? I tried to look for a train but I can't find a train station really close to the park. Please help me if you can! Thanks.
Tömmioh
^That is no wonder because, unfortunately there aren't any stops very close to the park. The closest train station is Kauhava which is about 27 km away from the park. It's easy in the way that there are quite many direct trains to Kauhava. But getting from there to PowerPark is quite difficult. Train site You can travel about 24 km by bus which apparently goes only once a day to Alahärmä which is only about (yeah you guessed it) 3 km away from the park. Or you could take a taxi for the ~27 km, but taxis are expensive in Finland, that would cost over 35-40 € one way I think. So it's quite complicated I'm afraid. Anac0nda
Yeah. Sadly the best park (Power Park) in Finland is out of reach for anyone without a car. If you DO happen to have a car, there's a nice place to spent a night just a few kilometers from the park called Härmän Kuntokeskus link. But anyway, Linnanmäki and Särkänniemi aren't that bad. There is a MS custom spinner and a couple of Intamin glory unique coasters anyway!
