Canobie Fan Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 So I hadnt been up to where Pirates Fun Park had been since it closed in 04... And I had nothing to do today so I went up and uh.. Took photos and stuff.. yeah... And one last photo... Of the 'infamous' Pole Position coaster.. Only used like 3 times before Fiesta Shows gave up on it. They had a few bigger rides.. But my bat died before I could get a photo of them. Mostly kiddie rides... And uh.. So on the way home I went and found the Fiesta Shows dumping ground.. Where they keep all the rides they dont use anymore. Nuclear Power Station! 15$ ticket... > LAME!... So as we walked back to my car the guy was just starting to write a ticket... And didnt count us as getting back on time.. because we were like 20 feet away from my car... Cock-Of-Steel! And the non-deadly slides. Moving on.... The Cannonbowl replaced the parks old deadly speedslides (...Yeah.. it killed some dood) The real reason we went up to Hampton Beach Hampton Beach is the nicest of all the New England beaches... But as its still June and only 55*s out.. The beach was kinda dead. Yeah. So after looking around 2 ghetto closed parks... We went up to Seabrook/Hampton Beach NH and got some food.... And fireworks. Yeah... its a nice looking area isnt it? .....even the kitchen sink.... The sign that use to be on the front gate. I ""found"" a souvenir. I dont think I will.... Yatpay and also where the Dragon Wagon once was. White bumper car laying in some junk. Green car shell. A few things in the park had been made into a 'skate park' Bumper Car house (in the back left is where the Galaxi was in the 90s.. Also a credit I have. ) Bumper Boat seats Random junk Sadness Over here is where the Dragon Wagon... was. (a credit I did get ) Whats left of the "midway" The other (more ghetto) Joes Playland sits right next to / IN PFP. I used to play the game that was on the far left... Sadness... Not that PFP was a good place or anything.. But it was still fun. Joe's Playland is 2 arcades at Salisbury Beach.... And now its really the only thing there. My friend Yatpay came along with me. Well about a block from Fun-O is Salisbury Beach... Home to what was the last 'coaster-ful' park in Massachusetts not named Six Flags.... Hmm.. But they have a hot tub! 1980s flashbacks? Yeah... More minigolf Moby...Dick Once... there was a Schwarzkopf here.... And I never got to ride it (saw it SBNO in the 90's) Random ride parts.. And by ride parts I mean trash. Creepy prizes... Who needs Fantazy Land.... Food carts Random gun+seat thing... Go-Kart track leftovers. Cool looking.. yet rundown minigolf. Left over ticket booth. As you can tell.. the place is closed. So yeah.. This is.. er was Fun-O-Ramma. > (This photo should go between the photos of the ticket "bag" and the ticket itself...Oops..)
burningstroller Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 LAME: Pirates park had a kick @ss "2001 space odyssey" scrambler and a cool "pirated den" dark ride. I grew up going there. It sucks immensely to see all those condos going up. I stopped by last weekend to play some games upstairs (the rarely open) at Joes and found that most of the classic games (the uber sexy Tron) were broken. Chrisy's pizza, however, still makes for sexy time.
Canobie Fan Posted June 14, 2007 Author Posted June 14, 2007 Yeah 2001 was wicked cool with its sound system.. And the dark ride use to make me when I was a kid. I never got to ride it after they rethemed it to Frankenstein.. Because it was closed the one trip I made after it was rethemed.. And then the park closed for good.
burningstroller Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Yeah, I'd like to see Canobie take on that style in Psychodrome. S'ok though...they're serving Redhook Long Hammer at the Tavern...I can make my own "space odyssey" on the Psychodrome.
spaceace12 Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 You didn't get called a terrorist? You could have by taking a picture of the nuclear power station.
bulldogmom Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Sad, funny, and disturbing at the same time... Seriously, I'm surprised nobody has pillaged that stuff for souvenirs. The pizza sure looked good
moinab Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 OMG! I had no idea!!!! It's been many years, since I've been out there. My sister-in-law used to work here, when she and my brother were dating. I spent quite a bit of time here, in the late 1970's. Is the Whale's Tale restaurant still on Hampton Beach? I worked there in the summer of 1988. Inevitable, I suppose. Eventually, the entire coast will be nothing but luxury homes and condos.
happyscrappy Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 This TR makes me sad. I remember going to Salisbury when it was awesome and there was tons of great food, the midway was up and running, the arcades were awesome... Now it looks like somewhere where they should film a horror movie. Sucks that all that's left there are a couple crappy aracdes and a strip club. Classy. The Hampton beach area is much nicer to go to. Live music in the summer and a couple cool new bars I checked out last year. Oh well...
