Around this time last year I started and finished my Demon Drop model (it has been featured on Cedarpoint.com blog). Since then I have built a mini Kingda Ka model and started but no where near finished with Top Thrill Dragster (other priorities have stopped me). My next project will be Nitro but only when I finish TTD so as of now I have no idea when that will be.

**Yes I know that TTD and KK do not have the full 270* spiral, I tried many ways to try to put it in but with the cardboard I was using for the track it did not look good.**

That is pretty cool and you did a great job but 2 things, How long did it take to build each one? And, Did you make the track out of cardboard(I think you already said this)?

Posted

Each one took a while to make becuase things kept on coming up that took my attention away but I would say Demon Drop- 2 months, KK 1month TTD -still not finished.

The track is made out of this speacial thin type of art cardboard. When its painted on it makes the board soft and I can shape the curves of TTD or KK and then when it drys it stiffens up.

Hopefully I can get started on my Nitro model which will be a little different becuase I will not be using popsicle sticks for the supports rather than round wooden sticks that look like real B&M supports. The scale will be 1:15 (1inch:15ft).

I just realized that I forgot a picture of dragsters train (woops)

^I think you should choose the easiest and the most effective way to really get a good grade. Probably those wire models..

I think the models look GREAT! I would have never been able to do that!

How big does it have to be? You can use toothpicks for the supports and thick cardboard (probably in any major art store) for the track. The worst part of the whole thing is painting it becuase I need to paint each (square) "toothpick" individually and then i realized i didnt paint the tower until after it was all glued together. If you need anymore help IM me anytime.

^thanks!

Like, as big as the TTD you built or a little bigger. I'm not 100% sure.

Instead of painting each one by hand, couldn't you just lay all of the pieces on a piece of paper towel and then spray paint them all? I've done that before, and it works pretty effectively!

Ok well I still haven't fisnished TTD. These people put in my AC and they completely trashed the break run so that has to be redone, and the carboard smashed a little so yeahh im pissed and on top of that I started a nitro model and had the whole lift/drop done and they COMPLETELY trashed that one to so I had to put it all back together. Anyway this is how it DID look and will look like again....
