Mr Stratosphere Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 This even made it on the Charlotte local news. It really was a slow news day I guess. The lady said "It's good there wasn't a loop" and behind her was video of the loop! I was like, lady turn around and look at the video! It reminds me of their spokesperson for the Sahara. They said this has never happened to the ride before, but then went on about the other rides in the city saying that Speed is the safest on the strip
thrillrideseeker Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 WOW! That is an intresting story. My only question is why did the people not like rock the train or something to get it to move, it looked to me like it was stuck on a turn with a drop after it. Like when top thrill dragster got stuck at the top, why did the people not just rock the train? I mean does that not make more sense than just sitting there? ~Matthew

If they tried it probally would just shake the train a bit, but would definately wouldn't help at all.. I also noticed something else about Speed and I was wondering if any of the other Premier coasters do this. When speed returns to the station sometimes it stops too soon or stops too late. And they have to manually move the train back into position to unlock the restraints. I just thought it was funny when the ride attendants were pushing the train back to the home position.
Godwyn Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 ^ I've been on Mr. Freeze in St. Louis where they had to push us back about a foot and a half.
haiderodes Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 This is the first time that I can recall that this has happened with people on the ride so in that sense it is a big deal. Honestly, anything to do with an attraction malfunctioning is big news here in Vegas. We have had our share of them from Manhattan Express to the rides at the Stratosphere, they love to put those stories on tv to strike fear in the hearts of residents. HAHA
