Sweet 16 voting is 7/8 complete. Why 7/8? Because there was a TIE! The match-up in the International bracket between 2-seeded Aska and 6-seeded Colossos was tied, 7-7, at the end of the voting period. You know what that means, right? Overtime! Voting remains open in THIS MATCH-UP ONLY for an additional 24 hours in the hope of finding a winner. If it's still tied at the end of overtime, tie-breaker methodology (per the first day's entries in the tournament blog) will be utilized. ^Probably if your not qualified to vote in any of them there is no point to vote not qualified for all of them. So I just wouldn't vote if I were you.

Reminder: there are less than 48 hours left to vote in the Frightening Four, the penultimate match-ups. As of now, there are two big surprises--

 

1. The coaster in the lead in each match-up has at least 85% of the vote thus far.

 

and

 

2. One of those leading coasters is the lower-seeded ride! I'm not going to say which one, but needless to say, it's a bit of a shocker if these results hold.

I voted for one fave and one underdog. These four coasters rank as my Numbers #2, 4, 5 and 12.

Well folks, this is it. Voyage vs. Phoenix for all the marbles. A new masterpiece by the Gravity Group at one of the most enthusiast-friendly parks on Earth vs. a PTC/Schmeck preservation victory located at the best park on Earth (IMO). Thanksgiving vs. mythology. Steel support structure vs. wood support structure. Free parking vs. free parking (we ALL win in this regard ). Your votes will decide the outcome.

 

But that's not all! Balder and Hades go at it for the "bronze medal." Thunderhead, Tremors, Boulder Dash, and Colossos are pitted against each other in a four-way battle to earn fifth place. Big Dipper and Twisted Twins (which each got bounced in the first round with zero votes) go at it to see which is the worst coaster in the U.S. to make the tournament. Plus there are a couple of questions seeking feedback about this tournament and possible future tournaments.

I'm really shocked Balder went down so heavily. Perhaps some people voted who weren't actually qualified.... I personally didn't vote in that matchup, not having been on Balder.

Elissa will hate me, but Phoenix is one of the few coasters I prefer over Balder. Looks like I wasn't the only one.

Update: Just one vote separates our two finalists! It's been a "back and forth battle" that's been tied on more than one occasion.
