Flyingcoasterfreak Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Hey guys, I get to take a free to Trip to Amsterdam and Athens Greece in less then a month. What Coasters are there in Amsterdam or Athens? I will be out of the Country for roughly 3 weeks. I dont have to pay for a single thing. I'm not sure what there is if anything. Thanks guys, Jeff
XII Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Amsterdam has a coaster somewhere in a church. I don't think Greece has one though.
Airtime&Gravity Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 From RCDB: Allou Fun Park (Athens, Attica Greece) Fantasia Luna Park (Faliraki, Rodos Greece) Luna Park Tivoli (Pireo, Attica Greece) Ta Aidonakia Luna Park (Athens, Attica 15124 Greece) http://rcdb.com/qs.htm?quicksearch=greece These all have wacky worm/tivoli coasters. The largest coaster in Greece is a wild mouse. Amsterdam park: Amsterdam Dungeon http://rcdb.com/pd1302.htm The coaster here is really small, and is only around 260ft long. Judging by photos, it looks like: turn, vertical lift, drop, turn, and station. There might be a small hill after the drop since there was a space between the drop and turn in the photo of the rides construction.
Shockwave Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 If you get a chance while you're in Amsterdam, get out to Walibi World which is less than an hour outside the city. It's easy to reach by public transport, it's got a couple of really good coasters and is a nice park to visit.
Janster Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 If you get the chance, you should go to "Efteling". Wonderful theming and a new coaster that just opened this year. Walibi World is also worth visiting, but I would go for Efteling. Drievliet in The Hague opens the first launched X-car looper in the world. All parks can easily be reached by public transport from Amsterdam.
AlmereStars Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 public transport from A'dam to efteling?? good luck with that if you'r not dutch... Well you don't have to pay anything, so maybe it's best to hire a car for a day or 3 and visit at least Efteling and Walibi. I live in almere which is closer to walibi then a'dam, and even I have trouble getting to walibi with public transport
Janster Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 public transport from A'dam to efteling?? good luck with that if you'r not dutch... What does being dutch have to do wiht public transport connections? On every station you can ask at information desks, no problem. For Efteling: just take a train to Tilburg or 's Hertogenbosch. From there there are bus services to Eftling, no problem.

Menghini Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 In 3 hours you can drive from north to south, with public transport it's about 4½ hours, but you don't have to go to the north, so that cuts the time at least 2 hours short (driving as well as public transport) We have but a small country and most people can speak (understandable) English, so that shouldn't be a problem. As is said above: Efteling (Kaatsheuvel, near Tilburg: a special bus is going from Tilburg to the park or you can go to Den Bosch/'s Hertogenbosch from where also a special bus is going to the park), Walibi World (Biddinghuizen, near Harderwijk: a special bus is going from Harderwijk to the park). Tilburg, Den Bosch/'s Hertogenbosch as well as Harderwijk have trainstations you easily can get to from Amsterdam. Don't now about Drievliet yet, but it's near The Hague ("Den Haag"), so it's very close. I think you have more problems going to the Amsterdam Dungeon!
Fry Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 public transport from A'dam to efteling?? good luck with that if you'r not dutch... I found it really simple to get to Efteling. Get to the station, and outside is a bus (ask at the information point in the station and they'll point it out). I didn't hit a single language barrier when using the system. Leave a good time to get your train, and just write down the name of the station, use English, and you'll be fine. Walibi is even easier. And both parks are exceedingly worth a visit.
Flyingcoasterfreak Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 I'll see what I can get to. Does anyone know where the coaster that is in AMS?
