I know how it is to be afraid of coasters. The first time I went to Canada's Wonderland with my family (Mom, Dad, and younger siblings), and we all waited in line for Thunder Run, which is a very small and non-intimidating ride. I chickened out at the station and didn't ride!

But seriously, once you just get over it and ride a coaster, you'll be so proud of yourself! Just start with something small and then i'm sure you'll be able to work your way up to bigger rides. You'll probably wonder why you were so scared in the first place.

Good Luck to you.

Valhalla is listed as a "indoor water coaster", and I was planning to ride it last... but... "insane drops" ?

Anyway I think I'd like to start tame and work my way up, that seems the logical idea, especially as Im a bit nervous of that too, so the idea of doing the biggest scariest coaster first I find a bit nuts, it could really put me off!

So yeah whilst wandering the Pleasure Beach, and occasionally going on River Caves or Ghost Train or Derby Racer etc, Im hoping to MAYBE do this order:

Space Invader

Avalanche

Roller Coaster

Steeplechase

Irn Bru Revolution (Although this one is a "maybe", it scares me!)

Grand National

Big Dipper

and possibly Valhalla.

I need to work myself up a bit to try the modern coasters like Infusion.

Valhallas drops arent huge. Theyre insane because its in the dark, I love the ride. I wish I could ride it daily, it was bloody fantastic!

I can sympathise there, I assure you. But thank you for those kind and encouraging words

I did feel pride after pushing myself to go on Big Thunder Mountain, which although its practically a kiddy ride to most folk here, it was a big step for me, and I loved it. I hope this is how I'll feel with the other coasters too

When you ride Valhalla, make sure you are wearing "full wet" gear, you can get very wet. This rides does not have large drops, it has a nice double down where you can try to catch some "Dry Ice" / mist which blocks your view of how high the drop really is.

I do not ride the Big One unless I have to. It's ok to do it once but I do not rate it.

Most of all have a great time in the Park and try to relax when you ride the "coasters"

I've decided against Valhalla!!

I've been reading several review websites now and I dont like the idea of getting soaked to the bone, ie soaked to a ridiculous degree, not a fun one, one person described it like being pushed into a swimming pool and having to walk around that way afterwards!

Also, Im not good with drops, and various sites claim things about 80ft near-vertical drops, and "insane drops" and "very very intense drops" etc

Its put me off totally.

I'll go on the Zipper Dipper instead...

Thast exactly why you should be careful when reading things written by those over enthusiastic types. Valhallas drops are nowhere even close to near verticlal. Or insane. If they were, there would be restraints of some kind. If you can enjoy Big Dipper, you can enjoy Valhalla. Just maybe better leave it for a hot summer day when you will be glad of the soaking. And NEVER ride the flying machines while still wet. Its freezing being spindried on it. lol.

Valhalla is only a coaster if your name is Jeff Johnston.

I see this name pop up in posts a lot... what's the story?

It's a running gag on Theme Park Review.

*Jeff Johnson- better known as "OldJJMan," one of the most infamous credit whores ever, counting ANYTHING that has a lift and a small hill a "coaster." Rides usually not considered credits by others are called "Jeff Johnson Credits."

*Jeff Johnson Credit- Anything, and I mean ANYTHING, that has a lift/launch and a hill is considered a credit by Jeff Johnson and nobody else. Hence the name, Jeff Johnson Credit.
