Adrenaline_Rush
Plummeting grades can be many things, like rockerdude64 said "Look at China and Japan" they have the advanced technology, and probably have a myspace 2.0! But yet they still have the smartest people in the world there, I read somewhere that for every one honor student in America, there are six in China! There are also many other things that can be reasons for grades dropping besides myspace. Just look at gangs, and violence. People admire, no they WORSHIP, people like 50 cents, because they SEEM cool, but behind that curtain, is a whole world of drugs and hate. And its like a competition nowadays to see, whose been in fights more, what drugs your on, how many times you've been shot. Its crazy, the society is being over-run with popular role models. Just because there popular doesnt mean there cool. Also America being the fattest country in the world has something to do with it. This is being set by all the fast food. And people only go there because its a quick easy way to have food ready. Its so tempting because America is so lazy, that they dont want to make a healthy meal at home. They go to McDonalds (sorry Elissa), Burger King, Wendy's, TacoBell. All because its conveniant and cheap. Though conveniant and cheap means terrible substance. They have raised the price of fruits and veggies in stores its OUTRAGOUS, just to make people by the cheaper, more fattening, addicting foods. Eventually this becomes a lifestyle, it is so conveniant its eaten by people 3 times a day. Yet the people who do that are so addicted to it, its apart of there everyday life cycle. America is just covering up its flaws by pointing the finger at something else. This is just terrible, because it makes people feel better about themselves for being fat and overweight eating McDonalds it just keeps them away from myspace. Its something the government has been doing for years, and everyone who reads this, you know its true. If you made it this far in my post I thank you for reading. Masked_Maverick
I read it and yeah all you seem to be doing is blaming America for being lazy. There are lazy people everywhere and there are also *gasp* fat people in other countries as well. While I agree that many people look to blame someone for their own mistakes but it happens everywhere not just here.
Adrenaline_Rush
I know there are fat people everywhere what I am saying is that America is the only country I know who has pointed the finger at myspace for being lazy, unhealthy, and most unbecoming. Masked_Maverick
^ True. Sad to say America also point the blame on Violent forms of Entertainment when some one goes on a shooting spree.

Adrenaline_Rush
^Yeh I know that too lol, I mean who ever thought of nuclear bombs I mean I could be freakin Japanese right now but no, they just had to make nuclear weapons.
Masked_Maverick
Well they probably would of gotten developed some where down the line. The scary thing is it could of been by a country willing to use them whenever the slightest thing went wrong.
GeorgiaDawg278
^Yeh I know that too lol, I mean who ever thought of nuclear bombs I mean I could be freakin Japanese right now but no, they just had to make nuclear weapons. The Americans developed them while in a race to beat Hitler for it. I'm very glad to have them. Now back on topic. Myspace should not be linked to poor grades, neither should video games, music, etc. The blame lies with the parents and the kids. If the kids are entirely too lazy to do work, then where would that work ethic come from? Did Tom teach it to them? No. It's the parents. If little Timmy is constantly babied and given what he wants, then why would he ever have a work ethic. Mommy or daddy will always be there to fix it. If the parents aren't involved with the child's schooling then their grades will fall. If kids don't have any kind of motivation, then they won't perform. If little Timmy just got an Xbox 360 Elite while failing 3 classes, where's his work ethic going to go? If Timmy got an Xbox 360 Elite for making straight A's, then his motivation would be there. Parents and others need to stop blaming everyone else for their child's bad grades, bad nehavior, or bad choice of friends.
Masked_Maverick
^ It comes down to scapegoating. Crappy parents almost always look for someone to blame when their kid who wasn't brought up right screws up big time and it garners national attention. GeorgiaDawg278
^and as a result, schools are dumbing down their standardized testing. A real question (as told from my brother) from the Georgia Graduation Test: Q: Which is NOT an example of an organism? A: a tree B: a rock C: a human D: a dog A third grader could answer that question. Public schools are getting to be a joke.
map2
I think its what the parents are NOT doing rather than what ther are doing. Parents nowadays are too busy with their jobs and their own life that they really don't care about what their teenager is doing o the internet. Parents are trying to provide for their kids, but they also have to realize that providing is only PART of the job; they also have to be there for their kids and monitor to some extent what they are doing. As for the gang violence comment, you have to realize that myspace, rap, etc. does not cause gang violence. The people who join gangs typically have issues of their own such as lack of love and acceptance, aggression towards one thing or another, so 9 times out of 10 people join gangs because of their own issues in an attempt to be "accepted" and "loved" and not because its being talked about in rap songs and myspace. They are not dumbing down their standards, they are just trying to help you not score a zero on the test. I'm sure the questions got a lot harder as the test progressed. I'm not sure about 10 years ago, but I know for the past 5 years or so, the SAT has ALWAYS done done their questioning by placing the easy questions to the front, medium in the middle, and hard questions in the back. The easy questions are there to help you with your overall score, its not because of lower standards.

AYP?). There is an increasing number of technical classes (not things like woodshop, etc. but the lowest level of an academic subject) and a HUGE number of students who speak little or no English. As a result, the tests have been dumbed down.
