jmc247 Posted March 15, 2007 Author Posted March 15, 2007 Guess what the US government has decided to build the Sadr City Theme Park. General Caldwell said that 12 reconstruction projects, valued at about $3.5 million, have been approved for Sadr City. The biggest ticket item was an amusement park on the neighborhood’s eastern edge that had been requested by the district’s mayor and other neighborhood officials. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/14/world/middleeast/14cnd-iraq.html?_r=1&oref=slogin The Sadr City mayor has agreed to provide matching funds for the amusment. Overall the park will cost about 5 million.
jmc247 Posted March 17, 2007 Author Posted March 17, 2007 Sadr City Mayor al-Darraji who got the US to go along with the theme park was seriously wounded yesterday by gunmen from a break away faction of the Medhi Army loyal to Iran. http://wkbt.com/Global/story.asp?S=6234946
RollerC Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 ^ Exactly. I don't think the Middle East could support a new park right now. The last thing we need is to hear on the news that a suicide bomber killed himself and 50 bystanders at a Middle Eastern theme park. why should the US fund Iraq's themepark? Its there country. They can do it. Take a look at US parks compared to Middle Eastern parks. US parks have a HUGE saftey standards. From what jmc247 stated earlier, it seems like you should really sign a death certificate before you ride anything over there. With the US on hand in building a park over there, they are insured US type saftey.
the sound Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 If you think a Theme Park would be a bomb target, think of the huge stadium being built there, the Olympic Stadium. One would wonder why they would bother with either.
Jeezus Juice Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Dr. Doom theme perhaps? Kinda small, made it as an avatar.

IMO this is the reason why Iraq is failing because there is to much reliance on the US instead of them relying on themselves.
