bgwfreak
LOL That would be an interesting one to watch. I really think PTCs would have helped it a lot. The helices (or however you spell that) both were banked so weird (as in they weren't banked at all) that they beat me up both trips down to Pavilion. I mean why not bank the stupid things? The first trip down there it had a lot of air, in September it wasn't nearly as much and it was just painful the whole ride. It was bashing me in the legs the whole way around each helix as well. Canobie Fan
Anyone else think that had this ride not gotten the Gerstlauer trains it could have actually been a decent ride? I dont know. The hills were kinda rampy but even with the g-trains I didnt think it was THAT bad. After being told by people it was one of the worst rides ever.. I got on thinking it was going to be like SOB or Beast... But it was just kinda 'ouch' in the first helix... But not to the point where I didnt reride.. Unlike SOB where once a day is good... I was able to ride Hurricane 8 full laps in 1 day.. 2-3 in a row! (and i took 1 night ride the day before.. and also on the last ride of the night I got walked down the lift hill! yay 9.05 rides )
carolinacaniac
Maybe I am just a softie, but I was bummed when I saw that. I agree Robb that it probably would have been a better ride with PTC's because I have had rides on Hurler at PKD that shook a lot worse, but the G-trains are what killed it for me, since they kill your legs. I also agree that the Family Kingdom should have been torn down instead (except for Swamp Fox, they shoudl keep that up).

kissorkill2night
Downtown Myrtle Beach is going to feel so empty for a few years now until they get done with all the construction they're going to do in place of the pavilion. Is that 1st picture in the 3rd row a picture of The Atic being demolished?I thought they were keeping that
ParkTrips
I dunno Robb, there were still only like a couple spots to have air. I just don't care for helices, whether be it on this ride or the Legend or whatever
robbalvey
It certainly was one of the worst of the full sized CCI coasters. I still think that award might go to Cheetah, but I haven't ridden that in a long time. But yeah, not their best work by any means. --Robb

Kings Island is my home park and those two rides are two of my three favorite! And some rumors are saying that Son of Beast is getting the trains from Hurricane... don't know what to make of that
Adriel
One part destroyed and then it all ends. How ironic is that?? I haven't even riddent that roller coaster yet!!
elbertivory2006
what is up with all the wooden coasters coming down? Poor wooden coasters. You hurt people in the past so now I guess its your turn to feel the same pain that we felt when we rode you.

Son of Beast gave me a bruise the size of a cantelope last July. I don't really care to ride it ever again.
htomc42
Actually, I rode the Hurricane a couple of last times during the Pavilion park's "Last Ride" event on Sept. 30th. I found that you could "ride" it certain ways through the helices so that the dreadful shaking really wasn't too bad. It was still rough, though. That whole historic downtown amusement area is going to suffer for this.. it will be very weird, this summer will be the first time in about 75 years that there haven't been some kind park or rides in that area. They tore down the Haunted Hotel dark ride too.
