RollerC Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 It seems that Geauga Lakes new slogan will be the "Two Parks for the price of one" instead of the lame "What a Surprise". IMO, this is a good change as there hasn't been a surprise since the opening of the new waterpark. Their website has yet to be changed but I suspect it will soon.
FlyingScooter Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I hope it works for them, but i wouldn't bet on it.
TheGreatOne Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Changing their marketing slogan really isn't going to do much to take the bad taste out of people's mouths. I've been talking to a lot of my "GP friends" up in Akron (I grew up there and at GL) and it seems even casual visitors are not very happy with losing X-Flight and Superman/Steel Venom. People are not happy that they're losing dry rides by the handful and they're not being replaced by more dry rides. I understand what CF is trying to do there, but it's difficult to explain it to 95% of your customers that just go to have fun and don't care about business aspects of things.
cjeagle35 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 ^I'm pretty sure Cedar Fair expected this. There is no way they wouldn't have know that they would look bad in the eyes of the GP by removing quite a few of the park's rides. There is really no way to get rid of a huge neon green coaster and a two huge red towers without anyone noticing. We will just have to see how Cedar Fair plans to get people back to this park. A smaller family park with a great waterpark is fine, but I'd like to see how they are going to achieve this by just removing things. At some point, they are going to have to build something to attract people to this park.
Masked_Maverick Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I really hope that Cedar fair can get that park back on track. This was the park I went to all the itme growing up and I still love that park to this day. While at first I was not happy with their decision to remove X-Flight but when I read what they are trying to do in some weird way it started to make sense. I believe that if any company can turn that place around Cedar Fair can (and I mean this I am not speaking as a Cedar Fair fanboy.) I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
firstbase11897 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I hope they trash the "It's gonna be great!" song that they play at the entrance for next year. It's soo annoying. For those who don't know, it's the song in the commercial geauga used it's first year with Cedar Fair. The two parks for the price of one slogan is also used at Michigan's Adventure and it might be used at Dorney park. It's nothing special, but it's way better than "It's gonna be fun!" or "What a surprise!" Hopefully they will come up with a new, les annoying song. I pray it's nothing like MIA's song using the same slogan. That song makes me want to strangle something.
FlyingScooter Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Maybe they should just advertise this: Geauga Lake! Less rides for the same price! That's right. Without increasing the cost to you, our dear customers, we've decreased the amount of waiting and steps you'll have to take on your next visit here! >>>>sing it!<<<<< We're Geauga lake! Isn't it great! Geauga lake Less rides for same rate!
YoshiFan Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 The two parks for the price of one slogan is also used at Michigan's Adventure and it might be used at Dorney park. Yeah Dorney uses it as well, I think for Dorney they say "Two Great Parks, One Low Price"

FlyingScooter Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 ^Now that IS an insult to injury. wow.
larrygator Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Maybe they should get a new slogan like: "Hey people, if more of you come to the park and boost attendance, Geauga Lake will get new coasters. Now stop whining and buy a Season Pass"
Guest Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Michigan's Adventure has had this slogan for years and they have a jingle to along with it that is played throughout the park on repeat.
RollerC Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 While on the GL subject...they just announced the rides to be repainted...Head Spin and the flippin Texas Twister! HOW LAME!
