La explosión, que causó un incendio y una densa columna de humo, se registró alrededor de las 09.00 horas y provocó el hundimiento de tres de las cuatro plantas con que cuenta el módulo D del aparcamiento de la T-4, la última y más moderna de las terminales del aeropuerto de Madrid. El ministro del Interior, Alfredo Pérez Rubcalcaba, afirmó hoy que este atentado "interrumpe, rompe, el alto el fuego permanente" de ETA, lo condenó "rotundamente" y aseguró que "la violencia es incompatible con el diálogo en cualquier democracia, y esto el Gobierno lo va a mantener a capa y espada". El presidente del PP, Mariano Rajoy, instó al Ejecutivo a explicar si considera que el alto el fuego de ETA está roto y si, en consecuencia, el Ejecutivo piensa cambiar su política antiterrorista. "Le pido al Gobierno que suprima cualquier contacto con la organización terrorista ETA", señaló Rajoy. La explosión se produjo después de que fuera anunciada por tres llamadas en nombre de ETA: una primera a la DYA de Guipúzcoa, otra a los Bomberos de Madrid y una tercera al teléfono de emergencias SOS-Deiak de Guipúzcoa. En todas ellas se informaba de que a las 09.00 horas explosionaría una furgoneta Renault Traffic de color granate con una matrícula nueva de la serie DKY, aparcada en el estacionamiento de la T-4 y cargada con explosivos de "gran potencia". Las fuerzas de seguridad pudieron desalojar el aparcamiento de la T-4 poco antes de que se produjera la deflagración que causó un incendio y una densa columna de humo. Según relató el ministro del Interior, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, en una rueda de prensa para dar a conocer los primeros detalles del atentado, el desaparecido podría ser un hombre que había acudido al aeropuerto junto con su pareja para recoger a alguien que llegaba en un vuelo de madrugada. La mujer se dirigió a la terminal mientras el hombre se quedó en el coche para "echar una cabezada". "No ha aparecido y se le está buscando entre los escombros porque el aeropuerto está muy dañado", añadió el ministro. El servicio del Samur-Protección Civil ha atendido en el hospital de campaña que ha instalado en la zona a 19 personas, entre ellas dos policías y un taxista, y pasajeros que estaban desalojados en la pista en el momento de la explosión y muchos de los cuales presentaban traumatismos de tímpano. Todos ellos presentan lesiones leves. En total cinco personas han sido trasladadas a hospitales de Madrid, donde recibieron el alta unas horas más tarde. Tras la explosión todos los accesos y salidas de la T-4 quedaron cortados y miles de pasajeros fueron llevados a las pistas, donde muchos han estado varias horas después del suceso. La actividad aérea de la T-4 ha estado completamente paralizada durante varias horas, mientras que las otras tres funcionan con normalidad. Poco antes de las 14.00 horas empezaron a despegar y a aterrizar los primeros vuelos en la T-4 tras el atentado. Los pasajeros que esta mañana estaban en la terminal relataron a Efe las escenas de tensión, nerviosismo y angustia que se han vivido en la terminal y en las pistas a donde fueron conducidos cientos de viajeros para preservar su seguridad. El presidente del Gobierno, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, ha decidido suspender su estancia en Doñana, a donde se trasladó ayer para pasar unos días de vacaciones, y regresar a Madrid para seguir en el Palacio de la Moncloa la evolución de la situación provocada por el atentado y comparecer ante los medios de comunicación esta tarde. El jefe del Ejecutivo mantuvo esta mañana una serie de conversaciones telefónicas con dirigentes políticos para hacer un primer análisis de la situación, entre ellos con el líder del PP, Mariano Rajoy, a quien, según fuentes de este partido, trasladó que las primeras sospechas policiales sobe la autoría del atentado apuntaban a ETA. I'm not sure what was more scary...waiting 20 minutes for the train in the Banco de España Metro station with homeless people, prostitutes, drug addicts, etc. The station smelled of pot and urine.
