I like learning about abandoned amusement parks and I was wondering if anybody has information on any abandoned amusement parks. Does anybody also have pictures of some. Or maybe there is some website with just abandoned amusement parks. Even if you know about some rides that were left in the middle of nowhere I would like information on. Can anybody help?

There's actually not that many out there .. Idora/Chippewa are a few that come to mind. I'm sure there's a few more with some remains around, like Playland Park in San Antonio, no rides, but buildings.

I have few photos on my site from Playland Park, Aquarena Springs and some others .. adding some more soon after some upcoming trips if the weather behaves itself.

Great database of defunct parks. Most of the parks don't contain photos or anything, just the name. But for parks like Idora, Rocky Point, Mountain Park (A few that come to my head) should be listed with pictures and information and links to other sites for additional information.

I too have a thing for defunct parks, my roommate actually wants to film a movie in a defunct park and he mentioned Mountain Park so I'm going to take him there if we get permission and he wants to do it since the park is only in Holyoke, Mass. Not too far from my house.

Problem with most is trespassing and being shot at .. I know the owner of the Playland Park site has patroled the land with a rifle .. in the middle of a large city too .. it's quite scary.

Chippewa Lake: medina ohio, is easy enough to access via the beach, but you've got to be careful. There are packs of dogs in there that are pretty much wild. We went there last winter, took some pics. We were going to go in and then about 5 dogs came out of the overgrowth and charged the fence. Viscious, to say the least. We bagged out and might try again this summer.

If anyone checks that place out, BE CAREFUL.
