BiCoastal Kid Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Enjoy the progress! http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/p2706
BiCoastal Kid Posted October 22, 2006 Author Posted October 22, 2006 A little update. The first half(the big half) is finished. I'm pretty comfortable with how the track rides in those parts. Fun. The second half, the twister section, has begun. Probably mostly going to weave around inside the superstructure of the lift hill. This part will still be just as intense and crazy, though, but a little faster paced since it is smaller. So far it's going good. I've got a nice drop, a nice lowwwwww s-curve, and a couple other tricks that seem to be track fairly well right now. May need some reworking come AHG time, but so far so good. I've also determined that when it finally comes support-tweaking time, I'll be doing all the clearances myself. As in, I'll be turning off Colision detection for the entire ride. This should allow me to have better, and cleaner, control over the over-all structure of the ride. I also think that I'll allow minor tunnel intrusions, but nothing further than what you would see if you added a tunnel after already adding supports. (So to say, that if you were to tunnel test my ride, you may see beams right along the wallas of the tunnel, but nothign more). I think that's rather fair since arm clearance is not square, and the entrance to the woodie tunnels is smaller than the inside anyway.... which never really made sense to me, but okay. Soooo, yeah. I'll try to upload some more screenshots when I get a little further along in the track.
weeow Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Nice!!!!!!!! I see your simulator is working now. I just got 1.6 and it lags like crazy on every coaster type!
NitroRider Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Looks awesome, but I just hate those woodie trains! GRRRRR! ^Thats to bad to hear. Mine works fine.
BiCoastal Kid Posted October 22, 2006 Author Posted October 22, 2006 ^Morgan trains are just fine by me, but the reaosn Im using them is because they have far better maneuverability than the PTC trains. Also, a lot of people are complaining about 1.6, but it runs just fine on my computer. It runs better than it used to, and I have a downgraded graphics card right now.
weeow Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I can't wait to ride the twister section of this beast! What kind of graphics card do you have? Wouldn't the GCI trains have the same manueverability? Off topic-Are you going to post a download or video of your "CP Inspiriation" coaster? That thing looks great! A video would be best because my computer officially sucks now.
waterviper Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Looking awesome Rock!! Cant wait to ride this monster!! Also for you peeps who dont like a certain kind of train. Just go in and change it to your fave woody train!! Really simple!
weeow Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I like the train choice. BCK (BiCoastal Kid and Real have to be the best NL designers out there.
BiCoastal Kid Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 There are better designers, for sure. I wouldnt discredit DC or Buster, and Wing Over has stolen my heart lately. Also for you peeps who dont like a certain kind of train. Just go in and change it to your fave woody train!! Really simple! The problem with that is it messes with the physics. I'm pushing it as it is, though, but it's still survivable.
weeow Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Definately all of those above are great designers. So how is the twister section going? Like I asked before, are you going to post some screenshots of "CP Inspiration?"
verticalzero Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Nice layout and great looking woodie. BiCoastal Kid - I got NL 1.6 on Sat but i'm finding it so technical to get the track straight, curve properly, adjust the height, just about everything really. Do you have to know about forces and engineering, I only work in PC IT, I have never used a computer program which uses Wire-frames. What is the best / easy way of creating a good coaster..? I might stick with RCT3, No Limits does look a very good program though.
BiCoastal Kid Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 The best way to start out is with simple straight lines and hills. redunzelizer is actually building a track like that right now, showing that good sketches CAN be achieved in such an easy manner. http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/p2728 However, as you get more editor time under your belt you'll get more comfortable with making more complex shapes. As for the straight liens thing. To make a segment straight you can just select it and edit-make straight, but you're talking about lining things up, you can do that by making long supports segments as guidelines. http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/i15040
