Coastercameron Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Yeah I know, I'm about 3 months late posting this, but I finally got around to uploading my RARE full ride lights on POV from WDW Space Mountain. You can check it out on YouTube at: IMO, the ride is 100x better with the lights off, but it was very interesting to get to ride it with them on. EDIT: MUCH MUCH better (but bigger) version on TPR forums: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=255948
robbalvey Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 It's too bad YouTube re-compresses the video quality so poorly. Would you mind uploading this to the Professional Amatuer Videographer forum so we can get a cleaner look at it? Thanks for sharing! --Robb
Erik Johnson Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Wow, after all these years I finally got to see what this looks like with the lights on. Yeah, please upload a much less compressed video to the video forum like Robb said. Now do you have Rock N Rollercoaster with the lights on as well?
Coastercameron Posted September 18, 2006 Author Posted September 18, 2006 The whole thing was about 300mbs on my computer, I compressed it down to get it on you tube, (to about 30mbs) but even then it looked 100x better then it does now... ugh... video compression is such a pain.
Shockwave Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Nice stuff! When I rode Space Mountain with Don & Monica in March, I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the ride with the lights on from the station area during a breakdown. They were turned back off when the ride was restarted and got going.
Coastercameron Posted September 18, 2006 Author Posted September 18, 2006 Update'd POV on the forums: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=255948
Erik Johnson Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 If you want to see what it looks like with the lights off you can check this one out. Also at the very end you can see the track layout with the lights on from the peoplemover. Remember you have to be a TPR member to view this one, and ignore the dying giraffe sound effects. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24512
Jumboshrmp Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 http://www.coasterfamily.com recorded this ride with the lights on also. I've had it on the front page of my site (with their permission) for several months now. I'm surprised that people are just now finding out that this exists. It's really neat to see it with the lights on, I never realized how bumpy it was until I saw the video. It's so nice to finally see my first roller coaster with the lights on. On the main Walt Disney World page of http://www.disneymountainrides.com , you can find a full video of the other side of Space Mountain with the lights on (Alpha). The video you posted was Omega (I prefer Omega, even thought they are mirror images). Thanks again to Kevin from www.coasterfamily.com for letting me link to his video.
pvcoasterguy Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 I think the bumpiness is caused by the quick/tight transitions and turns... Space Mountain really isn't that rough... in fact, I think it's an incredibly smooth ride. Anyway, great video!
Coastercameron Posted September 19, 2006 Author Posted September 19, 2006 The Coasterfamily one was filmed the same day that mine was. It is from the other track of Space Mountain. I had a really hectic summer, and now that I should be focusing on school work, I've decided instead to try and collect myself, and do things I enjoy, like posting POV!

It's a fun kind of bumpy, not so bumpy it would ruin your day.
