the_rock401 Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 For all of you who frequent SFGAm, if you can help me out on this, that would be great. When I was in line for a night ride on Viper, I was talking with a woman who frequent SFGAm, and she said to avoid the park during the first two weeks of August, because that's when the book passes expire. When I was there on June 30, I saw a few of these passes used. Basically, they're rewards for reading a certain amount of books during the year in school districts throughout that part of Illinois and Wisconsin. My question is when do those passes expire this year? I'm looking at going on Friday, August 18, and I want to know if the place will be overrun with kids. Paul "Another lotsa-driving weekend" Miller
mcjaco Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I'm sure some of the other members that frequent the park more often than I do will chime in. I don't think it will be too bad those two weeks. School should be starting up again by then. At least High School and college will be, so crowds might be lighter than they are in the height of the summer. Just plan on taking the whole day to enjoy, just in case.
MSLSM Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I actualy don't notice a big diffrence in crowds in August and say June or July. The only lines that had noticeably longer lines were S:UF and Hurricane Harbor. HH's line went all the way to Whizzer, and S:UF's line went to about Rue le Dodge. The rest of the lines for major rides sI think are 30minutes to 1 hour.
cowboycurtis Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 i think all of the bok thingys expire in october im not sure
benzo41190 Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Im pretty sure it is in August. I can remember when I was in 5-8 grade, I would do this. It was funny because I would never read but I told my parents I did so they would sign the sheet! And we would always go on the last day they expired which was always in August. Now...things could have changed since then.
Golfie Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 I never had an experience with the reading passes since I never could read 600 minutes (I HATE reading! It's soooo boring! unless it's about roller coasters, duh) I'm going to SFGAm very soon this month so I'll let you know how the crowds are. Maybe try going on a random weekday (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) those are usually the quietest days.
