Sperious
Hey everyone! I'm planning to go to SFGA in NJ for the first time. Since I'm coming all the way from Sweden I'd like to have your comments on when the best time to visit would be? Is there any time at all when the queues are NOT like an hour or two for the major rides? I was thinking about going on a weekday in september, but I saw that the park isn't even open at that time. What would be best, a weekday late august or a weekend in september? Or something completely different? And how long queues should I expect when they are at their shortest? Please help! Don't wanna spend like $4000 standing in line all day, riding two or three rides! Thanks Sperious
SharkTums
If you're coming all the way out for SFGAd, go ahead and spend $50 extra and get a Gold Qbot. It will allow you to ride all the major coasters in the park with little to no queue. As for when to go...the New Jersey people can probably help out a bit more. We've always had good luck going in October.
TheArchfiend
If you come before schools let out in June, your set. Weekdays and most weekends in April and May are always nice times to avoid all the crowds. But, April and May have come and gone unless you plan on waiting till next season to go. Days I would avoid for crowds are any weekend in the summer and Fright Fest days. You can still get in all the decent rides on a moderately packed day in the summer, but waiting in line under the sun isn't exactly what I'd travel halfway across the world for. There's always Flash Pass if you want to get maximum thrill out of your day if the parks packed. Edit: Any day it rains during Fright Fest usually scares away (no pun intended) half the general public and makes for short lines. So, uh... pray for rain. And try to go that weekend of September the 9th and 10th. 2 reasons why... 1. This is after the first week that schools start back up in Jersey and 2. It is usually the first week of Fright Fest and people aren't in that Haloween mood yet and don't flock to the park in the massive numbers that go in October. I've gone on that second weekend in September for a number of years now and always find short lines. Unless the weather is phenomonal and hot. larrygator
A weekday (except Friday) in late August is better than a weekend in September. Even if September were to have a few less customers they also have less ride ops, since many have returned to school.
Sperious
Thanks guys for all your advice! Maybe I better wait until april or may next season if that would be the best time to go? And the $50 Gold Qbot may very well be a darn good investment. Oh, before I forget to ask, are all rides usually open in that time of the year? And is the park open at all on weekdays? This year it was only open one week in mid april on weekdays, according to the web site. Is that some kind of holiday over there, and if so, should it be avoided? TheArchfiend>> When you say lines have been short the second weekend of september, what exactly does that mean? What should I expect? Walk on, 10 mins or an hour? Elissa>> What happened to your side trip to Sweden and Liseberg? Did you cancel because of Lisebergsbanan (or the Banana Coaster, as you know it) being down or did I miss something in the updates? And by the way, whatever happended to Stealth? I was there a few days after TPR and, yes, it was down.. Wasn't it down BEFORE your visit as well? Did they open it up just for you guys? Aren't they concerned about the safety for TPR members? Sperious
SharkTums
Liseberg pictures and video should be up today! Stealth always had problems but ran really well for us on our visit, then it died like 2 days after we were there!
