Soft opening for Disneyland's Space Mountain?

Okay, here's the deal... The family and I are going to the DLR the last week of June. (That's just the way it works out after juggling schedules to fit this deal in to begin with. It's the last week of June, or not at all, so last week of June it is.) Anyhow, from what I can gather, Space Mountain isn't going to officially open until July 15th. That's 2 days before the actual 50th anniversary, and a little over 2 weeks AFTER we're going to be there. What I'm hoping is that maybe, just maybe, they'll have a soft opening sometime before July 15th, and ideally, during the time we'll be there.

 

If you're still with me after all that, my question is: Has anyone heard about a possible soft opening for late June? If so, how does one avail themselves to the opportunity? Is it just a deal where if you're lucky enough to be in the area you get to ride, or can you do anything to stack the odds in your favor?

 

I'd appreciate any input.

Luck is most of it, the other part is knowing someone.

 

I wonder with this kind of 'rushing' to get it done in time for the 50th if it will even have normal soft opening. It may just have Cast Member Previews. Start finding and sucking up to the cast members now!

Luck has a lot to do with it. I found in fact there was a lot more flexibility (chance to get on the ride) for testing over previews/soft opening.

 

A) no one knew about it

B) BIG blocks of time with few people in line.

 

But I think that stuff changes based on attraction -- two weeks before official opening date, one is well beyond testing phase.

 

So hard to tell. Elissa's advice isn't bad advice at all -- getting to know cast members -- I got ticket's to DCA's TOT for that.

 

But two weeks might be too early for AP'ers. I got on TOT April 26th last year (about 1.5 weeks ahead), and now for Soarin here, its next weekend for APer's (almost two weeks ahead).

I know that some cast members have ridden it already, and I have "heard" July 1st for soft openings.....but nothing is official.
