DenDen Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 A couple years ago, I learned an ad blocking trick that works with all browsers in WindowsXP. (There are ways to do it in any operating system.) But now, someone wrote a little utility to do the trick automatically. What this little utility does is lists all known ad companies on the internet on your computer as YOU hosting the ads. In turn, you really don't host them, so nothing loads in place of the ads that any website calls, and totally speeds up your page load times. You can get the little util at http://www.everythingisnt.com/hosts.html or if your a computer pro, do it manually. (The link shows you how) For those of you who love the coaster sites, but HATE the overabundance of ads, this little trick kills them ALL! (Bite me WEBSITE NAME WITHHELD hehehehe)
robbalvey Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 ^ Gee, I wonder what site you could be talking about! --Robb "You'll never see pop-up ads on Theme Park Review!" Alvey
memphish Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 And thats why I love you. (not really...well maybe.)
SharkTums Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 That's okay, you can love him! But then you get to deal with him! Elissa "that means you have to put out!" Alvey
CoasterFanatic Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Does it kill the little floating DHTML "1,000,000 Visitor" ads? // I hate those damn things
DenDen Posted April 11, 2005 Author Posted April 11, 2005 Does it kill the little floating DHTML "1,000,000 Visitor" ads? // I hate those damn things Yep, they come from known ad agencies, so they are also blocked! The only thing it will not block is ads hosted by the website itself. ^ Gee, I wonder what site you could be talking about! Laughing Well, here's some hints... mediocre script writer that can't make money off of his script (hacked constantly) or his memberships, so he goes the dirty-spam route. ling:
