coasterdude5
I'm going to Las Vegas this summer. What should I do there like coasters and what shouldn't I do. I'll have a trip report when I get back hopefully.
Mr Stratosphere
Since you will be in Vegas you got to ride all the rides here, even the TOGO (hey its a credit) I recomend sitting in the front row of the last car on the Manhattan Express at the NYNY. That is the least rough place in the train. Adventuredome has a decent Arrow double loop-screw (indoors) Still holding up well. Saharas Speed the ride, great ride very short, but most shuttles are. Look me up when you go to the Stratosphere, Ask for (Mr.Stratosphere) they will know who you are looking for. The High Roller highest rollercoaster, kiddy ride just 909 ft in the air. Big Shot worlds highest thrill ride. Standard 160ft Shot Tower starting 921ft above ground and topping out at 1,081ft. 4 G'S up -1G down. X-Scream (teeter toter) this ride will send you 30ft over the edge of the tower on 109th floor, 866ft above the ground, at 35mph. Insanity our newest ride is an inverted centrifuge where you swing 64 ft past the towers edge at 45mph and 3G's What is neat about X-Scream and Insanity is that you go over the edge of the building with only a lap bar! Hope you come out to vegas and have a great time look me up. John

SharkTums
http://www.vegas.com/attractions/on_the_strip/projectxsky.html?f=m0at&t=stripat It's like a big 'teeter-totter' that goes over the edge of the tower. Elissa "still not too sure if I'd ride it!" Alvey
coasterdude5
Thanks SharkTums... I wonder why it isn't classified as a coaster? It sorta has one drop and it's on a track. I'll probably ride it just to say I rode it. I'll be making a TR called Vegas Baby: 2005. It'll be awesome and I just got an awesome camera so there will be tons of pics! CrashMender
I will also be going to Vegas this year. I was wondering where you(Mr. Stratosphere or anyone else) would recommend staying. We dont want to be on the strip and want to keep the budget reasonable.
What Now
^ Why don't you want to stay on the Strip?
SharkTums
^^ Boooo!!! You have to stay on the strip!!! Elissa "the south end of it too!" Alvey
Mr Stratosphere
Well you should stay on the strip. Stratosphere is the most reasonable on the strip starting at about 35 - 40 bucks a night Look at the Strat web site for some great deals. But if you want to stay off the strip, try, Station Casinos, Sams Town. Or try Downtown. But there i only recommend, Main Street Station or the Golden Nugget. The Rest are kind of run down. CrashMender
what we were thinking of doing is staying at buffalo bill's in Primm on the Nevada Border, hitting up desperado and then going to Vegas. Our biggest problem is when we are going, the 1st and 2nd of July. Prices on the strip are through the roof. Unfortunately it is the only time in our trip that we are able to go because the people we are going with have to work during the week. Has anyone ever stayed at Buffalo Bill's? SharkTums
^I think a vast majority of us have stayed there! It's like the motel 6 of the casino world. I actually don't think it's as bad as a lot of people make it out to be, but it's definitely a different 'class' of people. Lots of truckers and passer throughs. I actually love their food court, arcade, and rides. Try to get a non-smoking room, it's REALLY smoky! Elissa "and their suites are nice!" Meteornotes
I've stayed at BB and Whiskey Pete's many times. They're both OK places to stay, with BB being a bit better. Sometimes they do jack up the room rates in Vegas (like during trade shows), so it always made sense to me to stay out there for under $30 a night and just drive back and forth to town. It's a cool drive, and you get to pass by a prison, complete with signs telling you not to pick up hitchhikers in the area! You can't beat potential entertainment like that... Mr Stratosphere
We believe it or not have even stayed there making it a weekend getaway if you will. It is nice the rides are alright, Desperado Hyper, Log Ride where you can shoot targets. Virtual Roller Coaster, Turbo Drop, and a motion simulator. Just hope you dont get a room on the side with the first drop of the Desperado, kinda a headache getting woken up at 6am when they are testing it. coasterdude5
I think we're staying at Circus-Circus. I've heard its pretty cool. Has anybody ever stayed there before. Any discounts to Adventure Dome?
SharkTums
Yeah, if you stay there you get a discount, there are also all kinds of coupons floating around town for like $3-$5 off the all day wristband. Elissa "I miss the wet dry slides!" Alvey
Mr Stratosphere
Be sure when you get into your hotel room check out the "What's On" Magazine because there are many many cupons for rides and attractions around Vegas. This is a little known secret because many people dont look in their room before heading out.
