  1. @JediMaster and @Jew-- The best way to paraphrase this article is that through legal wrangling, the Freestyle Music Park USA side of the company was able to absolve all of their debt and repurchase the park completely debt free for 7 million? Great Scam, Well Played... This park either sells off all rides quickly as their portfolio is clearly worth more than 7 milllion or opens up in 2012 with an honest fighting chance of working as they have no debt.. Step 1- Build a 400 million dollar theme park Step 2- Fail Spectacularly Step 3- Hire Good Lawyers Step 4- Buy 400 million dollar park for 7 million Step 5- ?????????????? Step 6- PROFIT
  2. "I'm only embarrassed of the things I was afraid to do and the thought's I was afraid to speak" - Chris Connolly. There are A LOT of worse things to be embarrassed about then your love of theme parks.. If you think your friends or colleagues would think less of you because you like something as trivial (and awesome) as roller coasters, I'd find new friends and colleagues. Chris "The More you know "Connolly
  3. ^This was probably the best TPR news piece I've seen.. I love the writing and angle the reporter put on the story. There is a bunch of quotable stuff in their like "their addiction burned through relationships", "They meet in the alleys underneath the rides", "rock star access" or "the civilians watch the hardcore at work". Chris "My Rehab is Themeparkreview.com" Connolly
  4. blackouts are only dangerous if you didn't remember to change the batteries in your flashlight.
  5. In case you didn't get a chance to make it to Bizarro Bash, I'll give you a two word review- "Effing Awesome" . From the morning ERT on Bizarro (with thankfully no music on the trains) to the incredible lunch (more food than in an ACE'r's refrigerator and more beer than even TPR's most famous drinkers could finish) ,it was great. TPR quest was amazing as usual and there may even be some photos from that event that aren't even TPR appropriate...Thanks to SFNE's park president (Jason Freeman) for a great q&a. TPR asked a lot of good questions and my hat's off to everything SFNE did to help people affected by the tornadoes... So how do you top all that? Finishing off the night with a "water challenge" on SFNE's newest coaster. Good Times. Thanks TPR and SFNE for putting on a great event. Chris "sad he has to go to work tomorrow" Connolly
  6. additional thoughts.. 1. This pov needs less legs (too soon?) 2. Glad to see tpr was first to post an on ride video of california screaming's new program. 3. Pretty sure you can see Caesar Deharo somewhere in this video. 4. The newest method to score free fast passes. 5. A penny saved is a lesson learned. 6. This video made my day.
  7. I have to disagree with all of the above posters.. This might be the best on ride pov ever taken.. Have you ever seen a pov that includes a penny trick and a ride valleying? (I haven't) ...Have you ever seen members of the general public act so smart and calm in a situation like this?.... The most important question though is , did they get permission to film this?... Chris "tongue firmly planted in cheek as always" Connolly.
  8. Great update as always. I feel compelled to g down to the kitchen and find flavors that go well with popcorn.. Strawberry popcorn? has that been done before?
  9. I believe the city of Chiba (including TDR) is actually built on land fill (that is why during the earthquake water was seaping up through the ground because the land fill was sifting downwards and compacting forcing the moisture in the dirt upwards, at least that is what was explained on several Discovery channel shows about the earthquake) so I don't know if the mountain could have already been there, but it would be interesting if that were the case. I take it you missed Chris' sarcasm there. So that explains it.....Miracles. .... 20 dollars will be paypaled to the first person that can find me actual contruction photos of the mountain..... .. REALLY.. The bounty has now been raised to 30 dollars USD (or I can pay you in somalian pirate dollars if that is your thing) .. According to wikipedia and my mom, I doubt anyone can prove to me with photographic evidence that mount prometheus isn't really an actual mountain..
  10. ^Honestly, I'm not even sure if that's what people are pointing at.. It was just a joke
  11. DId Mount Prometheus exist before the park was built? I've heard there are no construction photos of it because it is a REAL MOUNTAIN (made of real rock).
  12. ^^LOL!.. This might as well by my tagline. ..^LOLOL.. You know what this thread needs? More Hotel Miracosta Pictures.. I want, wait need, to stay there.
  13. Scott, I've always been a fan of your opinions and your level headedness, but did you see the video?
  14. While Kristin was at her baby shower today, I showed this video to the male side of my extended family and provided them with no background of the incident . The general consensus from a group that included a criminal lawyer, a psychiatrist, and a sociology professor was that he was going for suicide via roller coaster and the family was at least partially aware of it ahead of time. Chris "Not to be a debbie downer" Connolly
  15. Just to reiterate, I see it as more of a social issue.. Put yourself in the shoes of the ride ops team. It's easy to say no to a child that is an inch short, it's much harder to view a double amputee/ war hero and tell them no.. I mean, honestly, I might have trouble telling him he can't ride even if I knew better. One more fact.. According the Department of Transportation your chances of being killed in your car on the way to the theme park are 130,000 times greater than being killed at the theme park.
  16. Really, what ride op is going to say no to a mother effing iraqi war hero with no legs? I wouldn't be suprised if this was the genesis of the whole incident. Did he wear camo or a uniform to the park Edited due to my lack of eloquent speech. I'm taking a lot of liberties in this theory, but I imagine a guy surrounded by family wearing pro america/veteran shirts. If you were a 17 year old, who was confronted with something like this? Would you dare let him not ride?
  17. . While I've been a huge opponent of watermarks in the past, if your photos include going to a country as insane and taboo as north korea, please watermark away. I'm impressed. Thanks for this!
  18. So I was having a pretty good day here in NY today; enjoying the beautiful weather and plethora of kittens. I looked at these updates and remembered the quote, “You can't be envious and happy at the same time”, so I hung myself with the LAX noose. Seriously though, I can't think of a place I'd rather be than Japan right now. Awesome updates as always. Chris "maybe I'll order sushi tonight and pretend" Connolly
  19. Does the coaster have any clones?
