  1. As much as I would love to hear a new ride announcement, I seriously doubt it is. The new planters and trees actually look really good. I would almost be as equally excited if the announcement was for more planters. It's probably just another AP event though... On another note, has anyone done the mother's day brunch at Knott's before? My mom surprisingly decided that that is where she wants to go.
  2. Looks like I posted that a bit late. lol What could have happened to his hand? They said it was a sever injury.
  3. I think I would have loved coasters at an earlier age, but my parents did a good job of scaring me from coasters. I loved the little rides like Jaguar when I was young though. When I was 14 I some how managed to ride Xcelerator and it was all over from there. I fell in love with the ride and it made me want to ride even bigger and more thrilling rides. Xcelerator will always have a special place in my heart.
  4. You mean to say that the water on Perilous is real? hahaha We always tell the guests its imaginary water, maybe she actually took that comment seriously.
  5. I used to sleep walk a lot when I was younger and I still sleep walk from time to time. I was at camp one year and my friend stole the bottom bunk, which left me with the top bunk. Well apparently I thought I was on the bottom bunk so when I started to sleep walk that night I got up and hit my head on one of the overhead beams and fell all the way down to the concrete floor. My friends tried to make sure I was ok but I just stood up and climbed back up into bed. Dang that morning when I finally woke up I had a huge gash in my forehead and my arm was really hurting from the fall. I was like "what the heck happened?" lol Another more scary time was when I used to live in the dorms. I guess I walked out the door of my dorm, all the way down the hall way and out the dorm itself. From there I walked out into the parking lot where I tried to start my car. I woke up when I heard my radio blasting. From then on I try to leave my keys with someone else before I go to sleep. Luckily, I don't sleep walk too much now a day unless I get really stressed out about something.
  6. I was actually the opening crew for 3-point challenge back in 2006 (ya... I wasn't 18 yet so I couldn't be in rides) and I always thought about what would happen if someone over shot when xcel was launching. I like mentioned before, there were a couple of close calls where the ball would hit the top of the fence while the train was launching but I never saw it go over. Now that I am in rides, I work at xcel quite often and I still haven't seen the ball go over, but that would be a horrible sight to see.
  7. I have spent more than my fair share of time being the ride op that had to be at the railroad crossing (right by Pony) this summer. While Pony is not a favorite among older teens and adults, it is a big hit with kids and younger teens. Like previously mentioned, the target audience for the ride loves it. I would hear kids saying that they they loved pony that they wanted to go on it again and again and again.
  8. TPR pens rock! I use them at work all the time and on more than one occasion my fellow ride ops have said that they wanted one too. I did loose one in the Rip Tide turnstile (I seriously do not know what happened there ) , but I still have one left.
  9. ^^I am all for making a Perilous fan club on TPR. I completely agree with you about the fact that the land that Perilous sits on could and probably should be used for something bigger and better, but Perilous is actually a really popular ride. During the summer we get pretty long lines (no thats not because we are going slow), mainly because it is an awesome ride. There is nothing really like it in California. I mean Tidal Wave at SFMM is just lame compared to Perilous. Plus if you want to get soaked at Knotts your only other choices are the log ride, rapids or the fountain. So it works perfectly for the teenage crowd and above. Also, dealing with the fact that they just painted it, I seriously doubt that there is any chance of it going anywhere in the next few years. Which is a great thing, but then again I am probably just being biased since that ride is my baby. haha
  10. I guess I would have to say that I am a "Whoo" person. It all depends on who I am with, if they are a fun group of people then it makes it more fun to throw my hands up in the air and yell out a few whoos. If I'm by myself I find no point to do either of those so I just sit there with my hands on my knees and just enjoy the ride silently.
  11. ^^Yay we have a Perilous fan! Sounds like you had a good day in the park. A lot of your pictures were taken from interesting angles. I really like the one from under xcel's top hat. As for Perilous' splash, after its recent rehab it does seem like the splash is bigger. However, it does still lack in its original greatness because of the fact that it only gets a few feet of the bridge wet. Oh well, beggars cant be choosers right? It is still enough to get the smaller ones that can't get on the ride a little wet.
  12. As of right now these are the ones that I have: -Six Flags Platinum Pass -Disney -Universal -Sea World -Cedar Fair Platinum pass (haha I guess the reason why I have this pass is because I thought I was going to quit working at Knotts. Ya... that didn't happen )
  13. ^Disney also calls Space mountain a "roller coaster type ride", not a roller coaster but a roller coaster type ride. haha
  14. ^ Heck ya, Janet is still there and shes still doing those great spiels.
  15. ^^ Ya, by you I meant people in general, but yes the park has to be classifying it as a coaster.
