  1. The only thing it looks like it's missing is the insane airtime hills found on some of the other x-car coasters.
  2. How can you discount the long flat sections of track? They are what completely ruin the pacing of the ride!
  3. You're probably right, but I still think it's "STOLEN MINIVAN"
  4. Assuming that Photo #6 is meant to be a space, and that photo #3 has a letter, we can assume that our unscrambled answer is two words. I have broken down some of the possabilities given the different letter choices for #3: A: Maintain Ovens - Fits with the theme Envision Manta - Sounds like more of a Sea World hint Native Mansion - Indian casino? Atone Minivans - Yes, we should atone for all our sins, including minivans C: Mac Inventions - The Nantimi 11 get iPods? Scam Invention - They don't? Omniscient Van - Even if they're omniscient, they should still atone Mini Covenants - Not to be confused with Minnie Covenants, which are at Disney D: Invent Domains - How about stopplayinggameshershey.com? Mad Inventions - A 97* coaster certainly qualifies Stoned Minivan - Hey, wasn't there a stoned minivan in the movie Cars? E: Insomnia Event - What all these puzzles cause Intensive Moan - See above G: Mating Venison - I think I saw that on the Discovery Channel Van Moistening - So now the stoned omnipotent vans are moist? H: Ham Inventions - Mmm, ham... Sham Invention - Mmm, sham... Honest Minivan - Good, I was starting to mistrust them after the whole moist thing I: Native's Minion - Sounds like a decent ride name J: Jam Inventions - Combine this with the "Ham Inventions" and we could have ham jam! K: Minivan Tokens - One token per ride? Mask Invention - Maybe a mask could help me come up with witty comments L: Stolen Minivan - Oh no! The poor honest, moist, stoned vans! Slam Invention - Hopefully the ride doens't end with anyone slamming into anything M: Novas Imminent - Sounds more like a Space Mountain theme N: Man's Invention - No women designed this coaster P: Map Inventions - Brought to you by: Garmin R: Remnant Vision - This is all that's left after you stare at the sun Servant Minion - Isn't that redundant? Tenor Minivans - I prefer my vehicles to be sopranos Main Inventors - Well, we know they're men (see above) Arm Inventions - I thought Project Strongarm was at IoA Mars Invention - Again, sounds more like a Space Mountain theme S: Stone Minivans - Chevy: Like a Rock Mass Invention - ACE? T: Mast Invention - It's a sailboat! U: Mountain Vines - Not a bad name for a terrain coaster W: Invite Snowman - A hint as to the identity of passenger 12? V: Insanity Venom - Mmm, insanity venom
  5. Where did you find an "I" in #6?
  6. What you are referring to is known as a "Norwegian Loop" since it first appeared on Speed Monster at TusenFryd in Norway. It is somewhat similar to the "Pretzel Loop" seen on B&M Flying Coasers such as Superman: Ultimate Flight, but the Norwegian Loop adds a twist when entering and exiting the loop.
  7. Really? Wow! Your amazing senses and deduction have revealed something that no one else has noticed! Your perception is so acute that you can notice such things without even reading the thread! I bow before your awesome observational skills! (try reading the last three pages of this thread, starting here)
  8. How else would we know we had all the letters? Definitely a dash or an underscore. Maybe it was supposed to go in #6 and they screwed up? Or, just maybe, some of the pictures have TWO letters
  9. ^ Yup, the beam at WDW is 26", just like Vegas. As EBL said, Vegas only uses that size because the current system reused track from the old MGM line, which was designed to use the old WDW Mark IVs. The fact that Las Vegas uses Bombardier didn't change anything since both the WDW Mark VI trains and the Vegas MVI trains were built by Bombardier. However, that size is used nowhere else but LV and WDW -- most transit monorails use a 31.5" beam. Since TDL's Resort Line uses modified Hitachi trains, it runs on a standard 31.5" beam. Disneyland's monorail, since it is 5/8 scale, runs on a 20" beam.
  10. No offence, but that is BS. The beam size at DL and WDW is completely different, and requires a completely different chassis. Disneyland's monorails were built a 5/8 (0.63) scale to match the Disneyland Railroad, while WDW's were built to an approximately a 5/6 (0.83) scale (Tokyo DL's monorail system is Disney's only full-size Alweg monorail). That is why there have always been separare models for the three resorts (DL had the Mark I, II, III, V, & VII, WDW had the Mark IV and VI, and TDL uses a customized Hitachi Standard). If the monorails were designed for WDW, they never would have fit on the beam. It wasn't this guy, was it? Size comparison of the monorail beams for Disney's three monorail systems.
  11. Is it just me, or are there no anti-rollback devices? Having two chains isn't enough if they are both connected to the same sprocket and drive motor.
  12. Those pictures came from Joe Cardello, who is trying to model all of Disneyland in 3D. His blog is at http://www.disneyland3d.blogspot.com/, and posts lots of screenshots to his Flickr set here. Specifically, the Matterhorn stuff is here. You might want to contact him and let him know of the error so that he can fix it.
  13. It seems that the author has an obsession with Tornado/Half Pipe type slides that rock you back and forth. That and bowl-type slides. Does no-one build long scenic terrain slides any more? Treetop Runs and Slide Mountain were my two favorite attractions at Raging Waters, but it seems that now everyone's either building a speed slides or Half-pipe/bowl slides.
  14. Hopefully they plan to enclose the Magic Mushroom Garden and the Flitzer for the 2009 season. The Magic Mushroom Garden is pointless during the day, and the Flitzer is just an eyesore out in the open like that.
  15. You're forgetting all the bad blood between Six Flags and the city of Agawam. For those of you unaware, in June 2007 Six Flags convinved the city of Agawam to pass a city-wide parking ban to prevent people from avoiding the $15 SFNE lots. However, this meant that no one in Agawam could let any cars park on their property unless they were a business and the cars were parked by customers of the business. Anyone wanting to offer other parking had to apply for a permit, pay a $250 fee, and hire a police officer to direct traffic. This meant that churches couldn't let people park in their lot to attend tag-sales, senior trips, or other non-church functions. It meant that gas stations couldn't offer car storage. It meant that no one could offer their property as overflow parking to a neighbor or nearby business having a special event. There was such a public outcry over this that the city council repealed the law in October 2007, and the Mayor (who had drafted the original law for Six Flags) was voted out of office in November. Most of the pro-Six Flags members of the City Council up for election were also replaced by anti-Six Flags people in that election. The result is that the Mayor and the City Council of Agawam are all now people who ran for office on an anti-Six Flags ticket, and they want to show that they aren't going to let Six Flags push them around. Six Flags probably realized that even if these permits went through, the new City Council would be giving them a hard time throughout the entire contruction and inspection process. As a side note, Dan Snyder (who owns both Six Flags and the Washington RedSkins) tried to get the Landover, MD police to block off all the sidewalks near FedEx Stadium so that people would have to either pay to park or pay $5 to take the FedEx Field shuttle. In that case, the cops just laughed in his face.
  16. When I spoke with the SFNE rep on the phone, I asked him flat out about future plans for the coaster. The response was a generic "Six Flags is always looking for ways to improve our parks, but no decision has been made about improvements for the 2009 season yet".
  17. I just got a phone call from Six Flags New England in response to an email I wrote asking about The Dark Knight (wow, they actually called me!). The gist of it is that The Dark Knight will not be opening in 2008, and the person on the phone would not comment on whether or not they would open it for 2009. Instead, SFNE will be getting a copy of the Glow in the Park parade that is opening at Great Adventure. I'm not aware of any other major parades being held in SFNE, so the logistics of this will be interesting. EDIT: Lance over at ScreamScape beat me to it apparently. See his blurb here. Six Flags has an official announcement on their web site here.
  18. You can't blame Cedar Fair for that one. They've owned King's Island for less than two years, and the only ride there installed by Cedar Fair is Firehawk (which, despite being a Vekoma, is rather smooth).
  19. Wow, so at 45 meters, this looks like it will break Summit Plummet's record for tallest free-fall body slide by 27.6 feet!
  20. It's just an artifact of the wide angle lens.
  21. Isn't Tampa where the University of South Florida is? and somehow I think HHN will be fine, it makes an awful lot of money for the park... Just like the Midwest is in the east half of the United States, or Northern California includes cities like Monteray (in the southern half of the state) and San Francisco (which is in the middle)
  22. I'm kinda mixed on this. On the one hand, the cup is by far the most expennsive part of a soda you buy at the park (since the actual drink is virtually free for Six Flags). On the other hand, who would expect to be able to use the same cup from year to year. Not that it matters to me -- I avoid soda and cups of water are always free.
  23. The quality is crappy, but for those that can't get the Korean video to load, it's up on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRrGHvMWCCY
