Julia and I have season passes to the beach waterpark right down the street from PKI, as we feel it's the best value for getting what we want: A place to cool off during the hot summer months. The last day they're open for swimming was yesterday, the 10th, and they do it with a little twist: You can bring your dog with you! All you need is proof that you are up to date with vaccinations and a 6-foot leash, and there's tons of games and fun for all dogs and people. Julia and I had a great time and it was really different seeing all these dogs in the middle of the waterpark!! I took some photos to share, as it's a sight I don't think a lot of you have seen. -James Dillaman (and Julia) After getting one of my quesidillas that I love so much from the wavepool-side grill, I was happy, too! That's all! As you can see, Bailey had a great time. As they always do on the weekends at the Beach, a live band was playing. The Banzai, or the "water up the nose makes you cough" Slide. Although it does have some nice airtime. These slides look like nothing now, but come Holidayfest they are the most insane dry tobaggan slides you'll ever ride! Did I mention the place was PACKED, and there were booths everywhere to play games and win free pet stuff. She's proud of her big boy! Bailey loves to swim in Julia's pond, so this was no sweat for him! There were a LOT of people there Bailey and I out swimming. Random dog photos, this dog was amazing at fetching a tennis ball from the deep end of the pool (8ft deep) Sadly, as I forgot my "no snaps, zippers, or buckles" swimsuit, I cannot ride the cliff today! WTF? Here's a sight you don't usually see at a waterpark. It was chilly when we arrived, and most of the action was at the wave pool, but a few people braved the lazy river. I love this waterpark. It's small but not too small. They even had the horse carriage rides, hyping up their (really fun) Holidayfest. This was certainly a dog's paradis today. after a 10-minute drive, we're here! For you log-home enthusiasts, yes, Julia's parents live in a log home they built themselves. Pretty cool, huh? The unsuspecting Bailey, who doesn't know he'll be making his first waterpark trip today.

Put in my order, would have been good to have last week, actually. It dipped into the 50's at night in ohio. -James Dillaman -
^ That's what everyone was saying in the CP 07 thread from day one, an "aquatrax" doesn't mean water, it's only the name of the ride system, and I agree that it does appear to have been designed at least with some aquatrax knowledge used. -James "It's close enough that TheArchfiend doesn't have to change his name afterall." Paula, I can understand how you must feel. I've been going to this park for years (Ever since Raven opened) and am simply amazed at the growth in this time period. I don't know how you manage to keep the atmosphere of a small park when in my book HW is fastly becoming one of the major themeparks in the midwest. Even some of my non-coaster loving friends have even heard of it on television and have been asking me about it. I do agree you should pass the word along for a nice carousel I'm sure many people would say build a steel coaster, blah blah blah, but with the family atmosphere of the park, I think a carousel would be great. I am not a "fanboy" but I regard myself as a fan of the park, and it warrants at least a visit per season from my friends and I. -James "Can't wait to ride the Turkeywhirl!" Dillaman -

Well, if it's just based on the video, I think that seems a little fast, even for a heartline roll. I might be wrong, but I think the long uphill section is to sort of slow it down, and the real world coaster won't necesarily be like the onride video simulation. Look at the voyage, for example. -james dillaman -

Got one right down the road from me, Aztec Adventure at the Beach, you're in a raft, but there's no jets or conveyors. I've lifted off the slide a couple times, but the real danger on that one is valleying, which happens a lot, actually. Last time I was there a small girl flipped out of the raft and went down the rest of the slide, busting her head open in the process. They were rocking it, though, which they expressly tell you NOT to do. -James "Beach Waterpark beats the bermuda shorts off of Boomerang Bay" Dillaman -

It always saddens me when there's a leak before the ride is officially announced. I realize as more and more people "know" that it becomes harder and harder to keep the secret. This is why I wish CP would announce their rides earlier, so they can announce them with the fanfair they deserve. I don't blame you for posting the link to youtube here, however I do blame the uploader. It's just poor taste. Yeah, but it was always part of the plan. Even from day one, they were saying the tilt-a-whirl was going to be relocated and rethemed to the new area, and the waterslide IS new, AND they just got a HUGE wooden coaster which is amazing, so yeah, I'm pleased with this. If Six Flags didn't charge $3.00 for soft drinks and had a great waterpark with staff that doesn't sit down all day moping, then I would be raving about them, too. I get angry with people who think HW is just liked because of the enthusiast hype-machine. There's good reason it got to be well-liked, and truly I think it's a wonderful park. My favorite waterpark (free with theme-park admission waterpark, at least ) I've ever been to, and certainly 3 good coasters, any 1 of which would bring people to the park for the credit. Many people are too hard on this park, which doesn't have the money to do all these big projects and so often. Be happy they're even building a slide after the voyage, because I'm shocked. -James "Not a fanboy, just saying" Dillaman -

How much different is it from mystery mine in ride type. The only difference is mainly intamin track, and they have many inversions already in other intamin rides. I just don't see how it's so hard to imagine an inverting aquatrax... -James "Guess I don't get it?" Dillaman -

You also have to remember that "Aqua Trax" does NOT equal "water coaster." It's just a name for a ride system. For example, Mystery Mine is VERY different from any of the other Euro Fighter installations. SheiKra is very different from the other "Dive Machines." If it's not an "Aqua Trax" or something VERY similar to that ride system I will be very surprised. I can't see this being your typical Intamin rocket coaster using typical rocket coaster trains. Perhaps a hybrid between the two? Maybe. But it that's the case that it uses the smaller cars even if one or two of them are linked together it's still more similar to an Aqua Trax ride system than a rocket. --Robb "And I could care less if I'm right or wrong simply because I really don't care one way or the other!" Alvey Sorry, Robb, I was simply replying to the "getting your stupid comments out now before the thread's closed" post. I fully understand the aquatrax system and I am with you in thinking it will be some way or another an aquatrax-like coaster at CP, and if you ask me, I'd be very pleased with that. CP could really use one of these, it'll fill a spot in their collection that was vacant before. It even, with only 107' as it were, is almost a "family" coaster. A couple of my friends don't like going to CP because of all thee tall rides (He's scared of heights), but if people can ride an Intamin that isn't 200+ feet tall, they can experience how the ride is, and maybe proceed onto bigger and badder things. -James Dillaman -

Why do people keep saying it's an Aquatrax?!? Seriously, have you ny brains at all? Cedar Point wouldn't build a stupid water coaster, this is gonna be good!! I'm thinking something like Rita only longer with more inversions. It CAN'T be an aquatrax because 1. The track is RED, not white or blue! 2. There's no WATER. I'd bet eleventy-thousand-billion dollars that it isn't an aquatrax. All you aquatrax people will be sorry when they announce it in a couple days. You'll look so silly because you said it was an aquatrax. How could you be so stupid with an issue so important to our country right now. If it's an aquatrax, the terrorists win! -James Dillaman -

I don't think it's really harmful, it's quieted down a lot as I said before. Like archfiend said, I think it's because school's started so a lot of young fanboys can't watch the webcam all day. Correct me if I'm wrong, but why couldn't an aquatrax coaster have 2-car trains? It seems plausible to me, especially with cedar point's emphasis on capacity, that they requested 2-car aquatrax trains instead of just one. I mean, look at WildCat at CP, only 1 car trains, but many other versions, like for example Galaxy at Indiana Beach, have 2 car-trains. I think this is still an aquatrax, as the tarped cars do look VERY similar. -James "Everyone remembers their bets, right? ArchFiend will change his name, but I seem to remember someone else betting their life it ISN'T an aquatrax. For your case I hope it isn't " Dillaman -

...you gotta be kiding me When every one of these coasters came out it WAS the biggest and the best. There not gonna tear down a new coaster everytime something bigger comes out. People are so unappreciative of the incredible rides at this park it blows my mind You said it exactly! When they came out they where the biggest and best of there kind but, all there rides have been one up since then. Does the park have an awesome amount of coasters? Yes! Are they the best in the world? NO! Now about Maverick, if the ride turns out just like that concept picture, themeing and all, it looks to be a great ride. I just hope its official. Just because they're not the "best in the world" (IYO, I might add) doesn't mean they're not good rides. A lot of people on this forum and many others like MF a lot, and even Magnum still. I know many people who would swear to you they like Raptor more than the Batman clones, and Mantis better than Riddlers. It's a matter of opinion. In MY humble opinion, I think we should be thankful to cedar point for in a lot of situations being brave enough to stick their heads out and build something new. Building prototypes is never a gurantee that you will have the "best in the world" but at least it proves the technology and the public's response to it to allow others to refine the design. I mean think about it, they broke 200', 300', and 400'. As a coaster riding group we should be thankful to them, because it shows that the other parks were content with just building another coaster. Cedar Point played a big part of the so-called "Coaster wars" in the 80's-today. Whatever this ride is, I think you will see at least something new with it, as that's their style. Even if what's new seems lame at first (say, twists on BOTH towers on WT), it still makes for a ride unique to the country if not the world (at least until the next one's built). As mentioned before, be thankful they're building a new coaster at all, because by most amusement park's standards, they have PLENTY. The GP would be happy to ride MF, TTD, Magnum, Raptor, Mantis, and all their other coasters for years to come. They don't depend on coaster-enthusiasts for money, and obviously they did pretty well (they bought the paramount parks didn't they?). I for one am just happy to see a coaster and not another giant flat which is what I thought might be coming for a couple years. -James Dillaman
