  1. From a quick search I found: As BudtheWiser said there were three park other parks...So, a total of 5 Busch Gardens have existed. Pasadena, California known as "The Original Busch Gardens" (1839 - 1913), open to the public from (1905-1937) For more info about the Busch Gardens in Pasadena, California use the following links: http://www.pasadenahistory.org/thingstosee/buschgardens.html And http://www.home.earthlink.net/~draydar/ Van Nuys, California (1966-1979) 1963 LA Busch Gardens land breaking (8/14) 1966 LA Busch Gardens opened (5/26) 1976 LA Busch Gardens scaled down to and converted to "Busch Bird Sanctuary -Los Angeles" (December) 1979 Busch Bird Sanctuary closed and expansion of brewery began For more info about the Busch Gardens in LA use the following link: http://www.placesearth.com/USA/California/LA/code/buschg1.htm Houston, Texas (1971-1972) specifically May 28, 1971 - Dec. 1972 There is not much more info on the Busch Gardens in Houston, only discovered that: Chuck Caplinger Desert Art Studio & Gallery were in charge of the Design and construction contracts for Anheuser Busch, “Busch Gardens, Houston” John B. Roberts Executive Vice President of Busch Entertainment Corporation and general manager at Busch Gardens Houston (also as well as Williamsburg). Located a video of the park, that can be accessed via the link below. http://www.sixflagshouston.com/videos/ This is a huge file (28 MB of video footage of the defunct Busch Gardens Houston); so you may wish to download it to play it back locally. Added to "sixflagshouston.com" on 02/18/2006 To see a timeline, which provides specifics about Busch Gardens, use the following link: http://www.anheuser-busch.com/timeline/default.html There you will find some of the info above as well as other item such as - BG Tampa opened in June 1959... - BG Williamsburg construction began in 1973, and opened 5/5/1975
  2. Wouldn't that just make you a PGA groupie?...rofl...... Seriously, what does that have to do with the sensation you receive from the ride? Or, is it that doesn't matter?
  3. The cost of admission for SFGAdv is a lot higher than SFDL, for that reason alone they should continue to get the new attractions. Although this newest roller coaster will most likely be the last coaster purchase for a significant amount of time. SFNE and SFA seem to have loads of season pass holders and visitors from other areas....possibly because they have major international airports within a couple hours...... SFDL has a great laser show though......who needs a new ride when they have that?...(smile) By the way, I don't think Dorney Park or Hershey Park have new rides.
  4. Shhhhhh......Jonathan No one will know if we don't tell......lmao
  5. Apollo's Chariot, Millennium Force, Goliath (SFMM), Superman - Ride of Steel and Nitro Carnage wrote: If you are thinking of the old woodies as "Out and Back" coasters....that may be accurate....I was under the impression "Out and Back" referenced a wood or steel sit down coasters (as opposed to standing or flight position), with track beneath the train (as opposed to inverted) which has numerous traditional hills/drops (as opposed to hills broken by a twist). If they have additional elements incorperated such as a helix, it would make the coaster more unique, but it would be an "out and Back" nonetheless. I guess we have stumbled upon some really good questions. *What is an Out and Back coaster? *Is it still considered an Out and Back if there are elements such as a helix or immelmann added?
  6. Thanks for the suggestions CoasterCrazy Imhotep.....the overall concept of a dive machine means you're basically loosing the traditional drop feeling. My thought is since your whole body is falling forward with the coaster, it removes most the feel of the hill. Similar to when you have your hands up on a coaster, you have less of the feeling in your stomach then when your hands are down. Your body is freer, less resistance means less feeling. So, if they somehow had the dive as one element within the circuit, accompanying regular drops, then I agree that would be great....but based on the train designs I doubt that will happen.
  7. I love Disney.....I visit the FL and CA parks frequently, but that is ridiculous If you are that big of a Disney nut, then why not attempt to get your own trash can? Be the first owner outside of Disney.....I think the bidders are people that do not have anything else to do with their money....
  8. The scenery is ok, but the ride looks really dull. So help me understand, is it the speed that makes it cool? Is it the "thought" of flying off the track? What is it?
  9. I've always consider my favorite type of coaster the "Out and Back." I have mad love for Apollo's Chariot, Millennium Force, Goliath (SFMM), Superman Ride of Steel (rode all three in the US, prefer SFNE) and Nitro. It appears that smooth full-circuit steel roller coasters with Air time and great drops are my passion. With that said I'm seeking your help. I'm planning to take a few weekend trips and a 6 night/7 day (not counting travel time) overseas trip this summer. Can you please provide suggestions as to where I can find roller coasters (which I haven't named) that fit the description above? By the way, I rode Sheikra last September, I don't think "dive machines" are all that great!
  10. What made you name this "Busch Garderns Europe"? It made me think there was a BG in Europe I was unaware of....lol.... But I must thank you for the picture of the Apollo's Chariot track.....that is my favorite VA roller coaster. Just the sight of the track makes me want to make my hotel reservations in the Williamsburg area.
  11. I knew about the Busch Gardens in CA because I lost a bet to someone when I doubted it's existance. However, the TX location is news to me. Does anyone know why these parks closed? I'm assuming it was financial. Also, were there more then 4 of them? Was Busch Gardens one of the first major amusement park chains?
  12. For years I said I was going to join ACE, but didn't do it until a month or so ago. I haven't received much information on the benefits, such as the discounts that the various parks offer, other than the one park listed on web site (Holiday World). I am planning to go to my first event this summer (Coaster Con XXIX). Can you give me an idea of what I should expect?.....How do the ACEers act, are they fun to be with, etc....
  13. Thanks Ed and Rollermonkey for providing that info.......Personally I've been waiting for them to reopen that ride. I've been waiting to add SD2K to my list of conquests. I agree Morgan isn't the best Manufacturer; however, I wouldn't purposely chose not to ride a coaster because it happens to be one of theirs. Therefore, I hope as the summer gets closer we will hear more regarding their decision to resume operation of SD2K; so those that are not that a hop, skip or jump away from Nagashima Spa Land are able to include the park in their summer plans.
