Found this crazy auction on eBay. I don't recall these pirates from the attraction, but I suppose they could have been non-prominent ones. Anyone else remember if they were actually from the attraction, and what scene? cgi.ebay.com/Disneyland-pirates-of-the-caribbean-estate-sale-no-res_W0QQitemZ300216132508QQihZ020QQcategoryZ1340QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Article: The Mecca of the Mouse
Sgt. Fox replied to sugart's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There's another thing that's been bugging me about this article. Did anyone else find it strange that he says he stayed on-property and never left Walt Disney World, but he repeatedly references his rental car and having to park and/or use the parking lot trams? If he was staying on-property why wouldn't he use Disney transportation? Not trying to find a conspiracy or anything... it just didn't make sense to me. -

So he went to WDW for a week by himself with the express goal of analyzing and dissecting its invidious effect upon our social structure? Wow, can't imagine why he didn't have a good time! I also find it telling that after a whole week alone at WDW he doesn't seem to have met up with any new interesting people there, or even engaged anyone in conversation while there. It speaks a lot as to his demeanor and attitude during his "vacation". It takes hard work to not meet people when you're alone at WDW. Queues and Disney transportation were practically designed to meet you up with folks when you're alone. News flash. People go to WDW time and time again because they let themselves "go" when they're there. They have fun with their friends and family in a colorful, dynamic and clean environment. That's the secret he seems to have missed. -
Wow. He came on here and created an account just to canvass for legislative support? Stay classy man. I'm an Arizona resident and don't support your bid for a theme park. I have no problem with you building a park, but you need to do it with your own money. Please stop trying to take my money away through the government to do it. Thanks.

I worked at Disneyland during the short reign of the Rocket Rods, and now every time I'm in the Buzz Lightyear gift shop, I see that locked door and really want to go down and check out that underground tunnel connecting to the load station tower. I wonder if the (sparse) theming is still in there...

Funniest Ride Experiences
Sgt. Fox replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was on Maliboomer at DCA with my brother, sitting, waiting to launch. They were operating 3 towers, so people were sitting across from us looking nervous as they also waited to launch on their tower. My brother said, "Watch this," pointed at the lady directly across from us and shouted "YOUR BELT IS UNBUCKLED!!!" She quickly bent forward and looked down at her belt, all panicked, just as her tower launched, blasting her head down towards her crotch and into that plastic shield. It was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. My brother is a jerk. -
Legend City v2.0, here we come... Speaking as a Phoenix resident, I see several problems with this plan. 1. It's not in Pheoenix. It's not even near Phoenix. Eloy is about an hour outside of Phoenix. Outside of the edge of town, that is. Driving through traffic from the center of Phoenix or the airport could easily make that a 2.5 hour drive into the middle of nowhere. There's NO local draw from Eloy, as only about 10,000 people live in that area, and they're more "The Hills Have Eyes" kind of folks as opposed to "Theme Park Visitor" folks. (No offense to anyone that lives there if you're reading this, lol.) 2. It's hot as hell here (it can get up to about 126 in the summer), so the park would have to work on some type of reverse-season schedule. Most of the tourists coming to Arizona that time of year are elderly snowbirds who aren't going to queue for a hyper-coaster. 3. It seems that without an intellectual property stockpile, building a Rock n' Roll themed park would require MASSIVE royalties in order to get any music, celebrity likenesses, or anything... well... rock n' roll related. I still support the plan, but only because I look forward to exploring the Decades Ghost Town in a a few years when it's shuttered.

Hey, what happened to your Splash photos Natatomic? The link is dead and I was looking forward to seeing them. -

Awesome thread! Anyone else notice the Indiana Jones EMVs in the Ride Trade catalog on page 4 of the thread? What year was that from? It looks like Disney stole it straight out of the catalog. lol -
Walt Disney Studio's Tower Of Terror preview!

You've got some monster steady-hand action there! I was looking at the exif data and that's a 2.5 second exposure during the ride with no camera shake! Bravo man! -
Magic Mountain Tripod Policy?
Sgt. Fox replied to Sgt. Fox's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I understand your point. I just disagree with the wisdom of the policy. If they're really that concerned that someone might take photos of rusting roller coasters or trash all over the park, then the reasonable solution would seem to be to clean up the trash and maintain the roller coasters, not ban cameras from the park. Besides, 99% of the businesses out there, theme park and non alike, allow photography around/on their premises and they're not going out of business in droves because of it. If anything, it's free advertising about their product and/or service. Hell, even when there was a whole dedicated movement by certain people to take photos of chipped paint and burnt out light bulbs at Disneyland for several years, Disney didn't lift one finger to ban photography in their parks, and they seem to be doing just fine. -

Well, there's your problem. Ear buds are supposed to go in your ears, not down there below the belt! -

I left a message with Guest Relations yesterday but still haven't heard back from them. I'll update you guys when/if I hear from them. I just find it amusing that a business so very heavily dependent upon marketing and drawing in customers from far away would want to do anything at all to stop the spread of word about their product. -
Photoless Magic Mountain Trip Report
Sgt. Fox replied to kidaftersunset's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Interesting. I had never even thought of carrying an iPod onto a coaster, but it kind of makes sense when you think about it. That would be pretty cool to add whatever soundtrack you want to the coaster. I mean, it would certainly be more entertaining than listening to the screaming kids all around you... Of course, there's the whole "losing your iPod or getting the ear buds rammed into your skull by the OTSR's" issue... -
Magic Mountain Tripod Policy?
Sgt. Fox replied to Sgt. Fox's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
LOL. Interchangeable lenses are prohibited?! Not that's certainly a dangerous item to make sure you keep out. Well, if I can't even bring my camera in, I suppose there's no reason for me to make the trip out there. I've scoured their website for come kind of corporate or PR contact to see if perhaps I can set up advance permission for me to bring my camera gear, but there's not a single contact number on there. ---- UPDATE. I found a general Guest Services contact number. We'll see what they say... -
Hey all! Been a while since I've hauled out my photography equipment for some good ole' roller coaster photos. Going to make the drive out to Magic Mountain in Valencia to take a bunch of photos, but have a question. Do you guys know what their tripod policy is there? I recall going through a metal detector and being patted down upon entry. Are they going to deny me entry if I'm carrying a metal tripod? Disneyland has usually been pretty cool about tripods, Cedar Point was most definitely NOT. How are the fine people at Magic Mountain?

I highly reccomend using some Tannerite. It's cheap, legal everywhere, and packs a heck of a punch. We put my old PC on top of a four-pack and never found a single piece of it. Personally, I think it was vaporized in the blast. http://tannerite.com/
