Alright, it is time for yet another update. I am finally out of the scenario editor and have moved into the normal park mode. The entrance plaza has been completed with a gift shop, a McDonalds, restrooms, and the security building. I have also put in a carousel, a Whip ride (appropriately named), and last but certainly not least, a side friction coaster. I hope you enjoy this update. Comments and constructive critiscism welcome and appreciated. The side friction coaster, Little Dipper The building containg the gift shop, McDs, restrooms, and security (and some offices in the back). Overview of the park so far.

I have no problem with constructive critiscism (as Z well knows), but to be honest, I thought you were coming across as a know-it-all, perfect park builder with some of your comments. Now, try to sound a little more like you're suggesting something rather than sounding like a know-it-all and I may consider it next time.

Yep, heard of 'em, but not sure if I've heard any of their songs. The names sound familiar though.

Alright, after I take care of some details and forestry, I will be finished in the scenario editor! The park entrance is finished (minus the carousel that will be going in the empty block you'll be seeing in a second), and I am very pleased with it, and think it is definately my best park entrance yet. And the first coaster isn't very far off either. Here are the updated screens, I hope you'll enjoy them. A look at the park so far. Hope you all like it. The area that will greet guests to the park. It will feature a classic carousel as well as the grand fountains. A look at the left side of the entrance area and office building. A look at the completed out-of park entrance.

Don't know if you noticed two important words in what I just quoted, so far. I'm still working on the entrance, as I just finished the one side of the offices off to each side of the entrance, now I have to do the other side. As for using the mountain tool, I only have hills through a small section. The land reaches it's highest point by gradually increasing (I.E. steps of land). That is what took me so long, getting the land to each specific height plateau and then grading it to flow. You can't use the mountain tool for that. Here are some screens that show the still unfinished entrance. I'll also show you a wide shot of the entire map before I started the buildings and trees. overview of the yet unfinished entrance area.

Alright, I'm starting a park called Idlewood for now, though it will most likely change before I'm finished with the park. As the park is now (still in the scenario editor) it has taken me about 5 or 6 hours to get to this point. About 4 or more was just the terraforming, and that is because the land reaches a high point of 50 feet; which can take a while for a 175 map. Here is a screen of the entrance plaza so far, though I am far from getting out of the scenario editor yet. I probably still have at least another 5 hours of work to do in the scenario editor.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

In reply to absoluterace's comment about footer depth: The footers aren't 30-40 ft. deep. I watched them pour a few, and they are 10, maybe 15 ft. at the deepest that I have seen. The bases (the large block foundations beneath the circular columns) are very spread out, though that is because of the high water table and the soil strength at Cedar Point. -
I got excited when I found out they were touring with Huey Lewis and the News this summer, cause they're pretty cool too; but alas, they ended their shows with Chicago this month, so it's just Chicago comin to Ft. Wayne.

B&M Track seen at factory

Actually, I would say that those pieces aren't yet painted. It is very hard to tell, but that is what it looks like to me. It looks like one solid color. -
I've made several posts already, but I always feel the need for a bit more of a formal introduction. Anyway...you can call me Mike, Michael, maXairian Mike (nickname given to me by the 2005 maXair crew), or BlueStreak64. I'm originally from Mansfield, Ohio and have been going to Cedar Point since I was born. I now reside in the middle of nowhere (aka Berne) in NE Indiana, 3+ hours away from the best park in the world. I'm a big Chicago fan (see the thread in the Random forum) and listen to almost any type of music other than hip hop and country (except Johnny Cash, 'cause he's awesome). I am also on staff at Point Xtreme, and am one of the people bringing you updates on Project 2007. I'm interested in anything electronic and dabble in lighting, sound, web design, repair, photo and video editing, and being a videographer. Photography is one of my major photos (easily over 1,500 CP pictures the last two seasons), and I have a Sony Cybershot 7 MP camera, with a new telephoto conversion lens (useful for reading coaster blueprints from far away). So yeah, that's all for now. You can see my profile if you want more than what I said here.

Alright, I've been playing 25 or 6 to 4 for three years in pep band, but I had never heard the real song until this spring on the radio. And I never realized until I started getting into Chicago that they did Saturday In The Park, which is another favorite song of mine. I'm really hoping to go up to the concert in Ft. Wayne in October, but it's $46.50 for a balcony seat, but I am more than willing to shell out the money to go see my all time favorite group. So is anyone else out there really into Chicago?

They're pieces from the BE area. Darn, and I won't be up to the Point for more pictures until Labor Day, and that is dependant on the price of gas. Now my last update (which still isn't up anyway) is pretty much obsolete, except for two pictures. -

You're all wrong. I used my telephoto lense to read the blue prints yesterday. What did I see? Well....I signed a non-disclosure agreement. -

No matter what it is, I'm doing a full out run on opening day to try to be on the first public train out the station. Aqua Trax, mega looper, a LIM/LSM lift; I don't care, I just want to ride on the first public train. -
Unfortunately my theme park dining experience has been rather limited, as the only park outside of the Ohio three that I've been to is IOA, and my group didn't want to eat at Mythos. Anyways...the Boardwalk Fries at CP (specifically at Coasters) are nothing short of awesome. And in my book, nothing beats a funnel cake with the works (powdered sugar, ice cream, apple and/or strawberry fruit topping, hot fudge, whipped cream, and nuts) from Toot Sweets. Only get your CP funnel cakes from Toot Sweets, as 99% of the time, they will be fresh out of the oil.

Distance?
BlueStreak64 replied to thrillrideseeker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, I'm willing to drive as far as I can afford to, same as traveling. Of course, I'm a little limited on options, as the closest parks to me are CP and PKI, and HW is over 4 hours away. So basically, any other park is a full day of traveling just to get there. And only being 17 doesn't help. -

I'm not going to say if it is or is not an Aquatrax yet, but I can say with almost 100% certainty that this coaster will use LIM/LSM technology (based upon the structure currently being errected on the site). Furthermore I believe that the technology could be used as a type of lift hill similar in style to California Screamin. One thing I have noticed is that we have only one or two pieces of twisted two-rail track, and it isn't very twisted. In the latest update (2nd pic down) you'll notice a transition between square and circular connectors on the lower supports. I wish I could have gotten a better picture of the last square connection support and the circular connection support, but that fence prohibits it. But what you can't tell in that picture is that the support with the circular connector is about 3-4 ft. back from the line of the curve created my the supports with square connections. If you haven't already figured out where I'm going with this already; we still have quite a bit of two rail that has yet to be delivered.
