  1. I'm very new to posting here but have been following from the shadows for a fair while now, and was hoping to get some advice for my trip this weekend. I searched the forum some, but was hoping to get a little more concise information if anyone has it. It looks like the weather forecast is calling for winds of 15-20 mph both Friday and Saturday. I am staying at Lighthouse Point and going to the park Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and intend to make full use of early entry and may well get fastlane or fastlane plus on Saturday as well. From my understanding, Gatekeeper, Raptor, and TTD, as well as Skyride and Windseeker are most susceptible to wind closures. Is this correct and are there any strategies you guys would suggest, keeping the wind in mind? Current plan is to make sure and hit Maverick on Friday early entry and Millenium Force Saturday for early entry, but aside from that hadn't planned much outside of the standard basics like back of the park first, front of the park later. Any wind related suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks
  2. Cedar Point this weekend, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  3. Eh, I don't really want to drag it out, but in my opinion it was easily better than a number of CP's coasters, maybe would have been 7th or 8th at that point IMO. But I generally prefer non looping, and even moreso wooden coasters. I'm not crushed or anything, just throwing my opinion out there since it had been discussed. I'm from St. Louis but my dad is from Cleveland and grandparents lived there, so I sort of understand the Cleveland sports and the being cheated thing. I was honestly just offering my opinion since it was at the top of the board being discussed.
  4. I know I haven't been around following these forums anywhere near as long as most of you, and haven't had to endure what has surely been an endless irritating discussion about this ride for years. But, I think had they done it quickly after closing it, moving Big Dipper to Cedar Point would have sense. The park is obviously very old and has a classic feel. The ride was in good shape, and fun with a narrow footprint. I preferred it to Blue Streak. I'm not going to play park planner and suggest where it could have gone, but it doesn't seem like it would have been too expensive to move, and would have been a good medium sized ride for medium sized people at a park which seems to value some older, unique rides. Tear me apart, just wanted say which side of the fence I land on.
  5. I don't think there will be any less interest in the announcement just because our suspicions have been confirmed. Most people(GP) who don't follow this stuff closely will find out about the plans from the announcement as they would have anyway. As others have said, I don't think the park is too worried about it as they have been dropping bread crumbs. People were analyzing FAA filings and hacking the Cedar Point app to glean information about Valravn...
  6. Hello, Long time listener, first time caller. There were a couple things in the last few days that finally made me want to jump into the discussion a little: ^^^^on this thread a few pages back ejot said he emailed and they also told him they may announce something tonight. That said, I agree with most others; the original wording about the announcement was purposefully vague, I believe. Good chance we won't hear anything tonight about Mean Streak, but I'll be happy if we do obviously. The other thing i read with much interest was the hotel discussion, since I've been trying to get a group trip together with my GP friends...as all of my friends are GP, and I would guess that I am too(or just genuinely busy and too lazy to even drive 30 mins to SFSTL) compared to you guys. But as I've gone through the process, I definitely think staying at any of the properties on the peninsula is worth it to me. I've been looking at the weekend of Oct 23-25 for me and my girlfriend. If I've done everything correctly, If I were to buy the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday tickets, and parking for those 3 days online it's $304.59. The "Ultimate Halloweekend package" gets you all the entry and parking obviously, for $596.10. So essentially it's $145.75 a night. And IDK what value you put on early entry...plus ability to throw some food and beverages(adult and otherwise) in the fridge in the room and go back there conveniently whenever to eat or relax. I guess the short of it is, it seems like there is a greater value(in my case $87 bucks saved per night minimum) for non pass holders to stay there. I can definitely see where having a Platinum Pass would actually make it less appealing to stay on the peninsula. I have enjoyed following this thread for a long time and have read every post since a couple months before the Valravn announcement, and just wanted to share my thoughts on the hotel thing. Thanks!
