Yeah, that has to be one of the slowest reaction times I've ever seen of any theme park security. Especially since at the beginning you hear the guard calling out "415 Physical" which is the police code for fight. Generally most security will run to a situation like that and be there within a minute, took about 3 for this one. Either way, it still seems to have been handled well by those who were there waiting for backup. Nothing was excessive, especially with the way that guy was acting. Switching subjects, Disney owns ABC, can you really "rip-off" something that is yours?

Oldest Coaster You've Ridden

Giant Dipper in Santa Cruz. 1924 I believe was the year? *Correction, I guess Wild One is my oldest if you count it's original installation in 1917. -
Best Drop Ride!!!
Double0Kevin replied to coaster_shorty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love the Intamin 2nd gens like Drop Tower at CGA, though Gyro Drops like Drop Tower at KI are pretty awesome too. I definitely could care less about S&S towers... They feel too controlled to me and thus are boring. -
Wow... I haven't even been on Green Lantern and I hate it, I mean what is the point of it? It looks so boring and those shields are hideous now. This feels like the typical Six Flags BS that we all wish would just go away! This is exactly the reason I haven't bothered visiting MM for the past 4 years. It just isn't worth it.

Now that I have, I wish I hadn't. Haha, wow I was just being an ass, didn't think you would find something like that. -
Drove by the park on Saturday to see if anything was going on. The park seemed dead. There are still a few Pandemonium track pieces on the concrete slab and all 6 cars are just chilling in Roar plaza. So disappointing that all these other parks are nearly done with their rides and DK hasn't even started doing ground prep.

I've done 3 trips to Southern California. Hitting up Disney and Universal. Other than that I watch a lot of movies and go running(Woo DL Half Marathon in September!). -
I took my first trip there back in July and had a similar experience. The park has some really gorgeous areas that you just don't see at parks out here in California. I also ran into Batwing having downtime, but luckily I rode it prior to it going down for most the day. The Batwing crew was also AWESOME(along with most the staff in the park). Superman and Joker's Jinx were both awesome rides. Having been on the Flight of Fear's I was happy to see that they didn't have the trims in the middle of Jinx. I wasn't too impressed with Roar, having ridden DK's all these years, but it could be a great ride if they ever got Millennium Flyers for it. Wild One was spectacular though and is very under appreciated I think. Overall I think SFA was a pretty solid park and worth a visit. From what I've heard, the trains had all just be extensively rebuilt the year before so it wasn't worth the cost to buy new ones when the old ones were basically brand new. I believe nothing is different in regards to track size from other stand-ups.

I kind of feel like Grizzly is this weird badge of honor for the park. It's such an infamous ride that you kinda want it to stay. Plus why rip it out when it could stay and we could potentially build something else somewhere else? Get rid of that ugly amphitheater and put something out there, or maybe an indoor/outdoor Eurofighter in the old IMAX building. Anyone remember the Addams Family coaster concept from like 10 years ago? With Grizzly, I think it would be outstanding to see them do topper track on it or get some PTCs (or both) and it would probably be a decent family ride. I know it was a good starter for me when I was little.

^ I'm doing a slow clap in my head right now. I've worked in and around the amusement park industry for about 8 years and what Robb says is totally accurate. I've had people crying hysterically and begging to get off of rides like Roar at SFDK cause they were so scared. Roar is only 100' tall and dwarfed by most of the other coasters in the park yet people cannot handle it. And I can't tell you how many of my friends don't even bother going to parks because they are too afraid of coasters and would rather not spend the money. It's also probably good to point out that a park like Cedar Point that is an excellent quality park with huge thrill rides doesn't even come close to the popularity of something like a Disney park in the US. That's got to be somewhat attributed to the fact that Disney parks are much more tame. --On a side note I have not ridden GL at SFMM nor do I know much about how Insane is operated, what's the big difference?

Get ready ready to have all of your rides be broken down or temporarily closed due to litigation... well, all but one! I knew it wouldn't be long before a negative Nancy brought that up I love Intamin rides so I'm willing to take that risk, it would by MY park!!! so that would be my risk to take "Nancy" was just speaking the truth. No need to get upset about it. -
I generally avoid riding Viper, then again I generally avoid going to Magic Mountain in general. I have done well with avoiding it for almost 3 years too! I really should go back though, there are 3 credits there that I haven't gotten. I'm also not really a fan of Revolution, Scream or X2 (yes... X2). They are just too rough and uncomfortable for me to enjoy. X2 is much better with the newer trains but still not the ride I think we had all hoped for 11 years ago.

I really enjoyed Crypt when it was Tomb Raider. I'm kind of puzzled at how a fairly recent ride (within the last 10 years) can "come to the end of it's service life" other than the park just doesn't want to pay for upkeep on it anymore. They should pull it out of that building a rebuild it somewhere outside (probably at a different park) and let that thing air out a bit; or does it really cost that much to maintain? You've never heard of the dreaded aqua-scorpion? -

After so many years of sticking to what they know, I kinda feel like this year B&M just said "F*ck it, go big or go home." This thing looks like it will be one hell of a ride. -
The holding brake did work at first but when they shortened the tower the train no longer went completely into the brake. So when the brake engaged, the train would slip and still drop. This would cause quite a bit of errors because the ride computer didn't know why the train was already back in the station when it should have been stopped up on Tower 2. The park fiddled with it for a while but eventually gave up in 2003 and shut it of completely. Vallejo owned the land, Six Flags owned everything within the park. Anything like the V2 mod was all Six Flags. The park was allowed to build on a technicality by measuring the highest point in the park to the top of the ride which made it fit under 150 feet. The neighbors weren't happy about it and argued that the height limit atop the park's highest point wasn't 150 feet so it still exceeded the limit. The city ended up folding and made the park modify the ride. In regards to Superman, I drove by the park last week on my way through Vallejo. There were a couple pieces of Pandemonium still sitting there waiting to be shipped out. There was no sign of any work other than that; no construction equipment or visible ride pieces.
