  1. The go karts make money. Why would they get rid of them for a coaster that doesn't?
  2. Drove by the park today. They seem to be accelerating on construction. They are starting to erect the support section for the climb out of the launch as well as the supports for the base of the loop. They had a lot of supports laying out in the tram road (no track visible) so it looks like they intend to get quite a bit up prior to the weekend. I'll be at the park on Friday or Saturday and try to get some pics.
  3. Why is it always the people who try to put in "cool" logos and edit to awesome(horribly crappy) music in an attempt to look legit are always the ones who can't figure out how to hold their iPhone sideways? Idiotas!
  4. I would love to see later hours like a lot of the east coast parks (CP, KI, KD, etc) but I doubt that would happen any time soon. There just isn't enough to do at the park to warrant that late of a closing. Also, Northern California crowds tend to run away when the temp drops below 70 degrees so evenings are tough to make money on in the Bay Area. It really on special events like Haunt that keep the people in late. On a side note, I visited the park yesterday for the first time in 2 years. Was only there for 2 hours but rode everything I wanted to. Here is a quick rundown of my trip. Vortex - Sucked, no surprise there. Top Gun... ahem, Flight Deck - Awesome as always. This is my favorite B&M invert for sure, and I've ridden a decent sampling of them. I was pretty bummed to see that the rides pain job basically included the loop and first helix and then wing-over and final helix. The middle of the ride wasn't touched. None of the supports were don except at the end of the ride near the lake. Demon - Pretty rough, but the corkscrews are as smooth as ever. Grizzly - Ran pretty well. It was warm so it was running at a decent speed and really wasn't rough at all. It's just not particularly exciting either. People were getting of happy though so it's doing what it needs to do when it comes to pleasing the GP. Why do they force you to walk through the rope switchbacks when there is no line? Seems like they could be moved to the side when crowds are so light. Drop Zone - Do they ever run all 6 cars? There is always one down it seems. Park crowds were non-existent. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Only slow crew was on Vortex but one of the attendants was limping so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. The park looked great, landscaping was awesome and everything was very clean. Probably the best I've seen it in years. Overall a great visit. I left around noon and went to Gilroy Gardens (my first time). Was pretty bummed to find Quicksilver Express closed. So I rode the train and the little coaster and took off.
  5. DK has been known to store ride pieces in various places. Parking Lot, Construction Site, Fairgrounds, the back area near the warehouses. Just because they haven't posted a picture doesn't mean it's not there. If it's not though, why can't they put up some supports? Got to have something to hold up the track. I like how people where complaining about them not putting anything up yet, and now when it is, people are complaining about what is going up first.
  6. Not sure that really says it's going to CGA. It just says Ouimet said it could end up at other CF parks and then listed all of them. It would be cool to see it, but CGA's schedule doesn't really allow for many "nights" to feature the show with the usual 8pm close time on weekdays.
  7. How does everyone know there is no track on site? It's not like we've had someone watching the park 24-7 for shipments. It could very well already be on site. I drove by the park yesterday, it looks like the section they put up is where the station will be, there was some steel framing underneath the supports so they may have put those supports up to start building the station around them.
  8. Same trains as SFGAm, just rebuilt from the ground up. Hopefully they will give a decent ride.
  9. Hooray, finally I have a reason to go back to the park this season to get some construction shots. Hope this bad boy goes up quick!
  10. I'm guessing it's "confidential" like Swarm at Thorpe is so dangerous that dummy's got limbs ripped off? Parks don't just send out confidential information in a survey... that doesn't make it very confidential at all.
  11. Working it little portable buildings with almost no sound insulation right next to Kong and under V2 at SFDK, I rarely ever noticed the coasters... and when I did it was over as quickly as it began. It's unfortunately the society we live in, people complain because they don't have anything else to do.
  12. We don't even know if those Trims will be used. In that picture they are off, I would look at that as a positive. This ride looks amazing. That helix or whatever they are calling it just blows my mind. We need more of those. I'm a little disappointed with the pointless V trains that they are using. I was hoping Leviathan would be a push for the older (and better) train design.
  13. Traffic, Emergency Vehicles and Homeless people make all kinds of noise outside of the building I work in in San Francisco... can I have the city make all those things go away? They are definitely louder and more common then a coaster. In fact, in the time it took me to write to this point of my post I've heard one cop drive by the sirens blaring and a homeless guy has been playing a flute (poorly) the whole time.
  14. ^It looked even better when the Yellow wasn't so faded. It got pretty bad quickly. It's good to see them out there working on Superman, I sure hope vertical construction starts soon. I'm not so sure anymore that they will make Memorial Day, not with it being a month and a half away.
  15. So you like Mind Eraser over Superman? I found Superman to be a great ride. Yeah it had a little rattle going on, but it didn't distract me from the positive experience at all. Mind Eraser and Roar both gave me some pretty negative experiences, ME cause it's ME and Roar probably cause I'm so used to SFDK's with the Flyers that track much better. I do agree that Wild One makes the entire visit worth it, the rest is just added bonus.
  16. If we are talking about parks overdue for a coaster, none fit the bill more than CGA. Psycho Mouse was the last new coaster back in 2001(and it's a mad mouse so it hardly counts). Maybe they threw out the GCI for something more impressive on the west coast... yeah, I don't think so either.
  17. The park hasn't even received any ride pieces. It's not like they are sitting around not doing anything while everything sits there. They have started prepping the site so by the time the ride get there they can start vertical construction right away which I'm sure will take less than 2 weeks. then they would probably have about a month for electrical, and test and adjust. Seems like plenty of time to me. And yes, My avatar is Zonga. I was on the ride op crew both years the ride operated. It was the first coaster I ever learned to operate so it's a little special to me. Plus I loved riding it.
  18. When I was there I spoke to the PR manager and Rides manager and neither seemed concerned about making Memorial Day. I'm still not worried at all.
  19. I think you will be surprised how quick it goes up. There really isn't much to the track work. I think the park has a decent shot at making it as long as the rain doesn't stay the way it's been the last week.
  20. That's definitely not the case at SFDK. When they got Lo-Q they modified most the entrances and hired attendants to merge Flash Pass users into the normal queue. Before then they did just let everyone skip the line, but now everyone kind of caught on that that was a bad idea. I agree it's useful on busy days, but I just don't see a significant ROI when the majority of the days probably won't see a lot of sales. Maybe when the park starts adding some more major rides again and attendance returns to what it was 10 to 12 years ago, then it will be useful. On the subject of Vortex, it's really not a bad coaster, just short and could use some serious train work. I've had some spectacular rides on it and some pretty awful ones as well, it really depends on the condition of the train. When the train is locked in and running well, that is a kick ass little ride.
  21. This post made me laugh, I like how you describe it as this violent and painful experience and then go on to say how you rode it a couple more times. I guess I'm just kind of tolerant of Roar cause I usually don't find it to be too rough. When I rode SFA's last summer... THAT was rough.
  22. I can't honestly remember a time where this service was really needed. CGA's lines really don't get that bad, maybe Flight Deck, Vortex and Demon... Otherwise most the rides are quick lines. Invertigo would have benefitted but alas it was heartlessly stolen from us.
  23. I only ever ride in or near the back. Much better airtime and far less rough in my opinion.
  24. Yeah, I didn't actually ride anything so the best I know on Roar is what I saw from off of it. Last time I road in October that hop into the brakes wasn't too bad so I doubt it was done this year.
  25. ^AMEN! I'm loving the trains, thank goodness we are back to 4 across trains. I always felt like those 7 trains should have 4 more seats per car. Looks like this will be a well loved ride by many for years to come... even if some find it "Slow." BTW, MF looks like it crests the Magnum hill pretty slowly off the ride but on the ride it's spectacular... just food for thought.
