  1. It's pretty good. Nothing like Fury or something, but far better than stand ups. Thanks to good operations, and a short ride cycle, it's pretty good at eating through a line. On average, the second train will stack on the brakes for 10 seconds or so, before the train in front is dispatched.
  2. That makes a ton of sense. I'm totally fine with that; I hate body slides. I almost always come out with marks on my back and lots of pain. I'd like to see something out by Hyena Falls (who wouldn't) along the lines of Calypso Run at KK/Hurricane Bay. Those slides were very fun, plus it would draw more people out to the constantly dead Hyena Falls area. I really hope this would go in the Pilgrim's Plunge spot. It's so weird seeing everything filled in and alive, then a giant concrete pit.
  3. Is that really true? At waterparks I've been to, the tube slides have terrible lines and the body slides are usually walk ons... It depends what type of slide I think. Take a look at KI's waterpark. It might have been the day I went, (only been once), but their body slides had at least 20 minute waits, and some tube slides did too, but some were also walk on. I'd actually be interested to see a capacity for something like a Proslide tornado vs one of the trap door slides.
  4. I wouldn't hesitate to take my kids out of school (and have done so) for a trip to Cedar Point! I obviously can't speak to how it works in every school district, but a parent should have the ability to get an excused absence for their kid whenever they want, for whatever reason. If finals are an issue, plan accordingly I guess... My problem is that the way our district describes it is extremely vague. Sometimes they act like you can be ok by going on vacation, and others not. It's about as questionable as the CP rain/wind policy
  5. ^ I would agree, except there's a problem. For me personally, and I believe many others, my school system is in session during those times. And an even bigger problem, if you miss a day unexcused (a trip to CP) you can't exempt any of your finals. I'm sure it'd be worth it but it's a risk I'd rather not take.
  6. ^ I guess that's all true. I don't really know what they would do in the waterpark. They have so many varieties of slides already. I can't see them doing body slides, as those are capacity nightmares typically (especially for a waterpark that draws crowds like SS does). Going out on a limb here kind of, but I have a friend that worked at the park this summer (but recently had to quit for outside issues). He said that at one point, soon after he was hired, "the lady that hired us" (should've asked who it was) said "I already know what next year's ride is! But can't tell you!" So I'm just hoping it is in fact a ride. I would wonder what they could possibly be doing for a new ride, though. Maybe a frisbee? Those are becoming more common installations at other parks.
  7. ^ Darn. I saw that too and thought the same thing. Although we can't really expect much after a good amount of spending over 2 years, I would really like to see some teasing or some hints of something next year. Topper track voyage hopefully? Shoot me now please everyone I just hope we don't go on a 9 year coaster drought again
  8. ^ other than the first few, that list is a joke lol. I thought Kentucky kingdom's waterpark was pretty dang good and it didn't even make the list.
  9. ^^ Agreed x1000. It'll never make sense in my head why someone would try to completely destroy someone who's just trying to have a good time at a park. Scary stuff. Prayers go out to the people who had kids, as I know explaining stuff like that to them is tough, we've had lots of problems with my younger sister. Glad everything is well though, Holiday World truly is a gem and I can't even imagine anything happening to it.
  10. You ain't slick Holiday World! I see you teasing through the sunscreen. #HolidayWorld2k17 Edit: I also just got off of thunderbird and oh my, it's bouncy. What causes this? It's not the "B&M Rattle" (I put it in quotes because I still don't believe it's a thing ). But it just bounced a ton the whole ride! Anyone know what's up? Ugh sorry edit part 2: I rode more tonight, and it turns out that only happens in the back row. The rest of the rows are just as smooth as they were last year. Also, on one train, there were only 2 rows with lights on (on the wings) and on the other, there was only one! What's up with that? And on top of this, row 5 right side was closed on both trains. Thunderbird wasn't having a good day today. Oh and the legend squeal was completely gone this visit
  11. It couldn't be a dive coaster track. The drive wheels on the green track here are the ones that lay flat and there are four in a "set". All the other dive coasters have one large, car-type, tire that is vertical. So unless B&M is changing their, design I doubt it.
  12. I've had a season pass for 5 years now, going almost weekly because of how close I live. I've definitely had the time to notice it. It's a very noticeable shrieking sound. I have noticed, however, that it's not consistent. Some days that I go it'll be insane, others there's no sign of it. However, this year Legend has been horrible about it every time I've gone this year. It just seems to depend on the day to me.
  13. The legend squeals like nothing you've ever heard before. It's incredibly loud and can be heard even from the middle of the waterpark. Voyage isn't very bad this year, but does have a few spots of it. Raven was just as bad as Legend last year, but I haven't noticed much of it this year. I've only seen the HW woodies do this. Thunder Run at KK wasn't doing this last week when I went. It's some kind of weird friction thing I imagine. All I do know for sure though is that it's one of the worst sounds of all time. Almost as bad as that Storm Chaser vibration
  14. That's kind of what I was thinking! We got in for $30 each and got free drinks. And we have another ticket for tomorrow, which we unfortunately won't be using. But still, that's crazy cheap! I bet we spent a total of $30 today, as we just ate at around 2:00 and left around 6:30. I'm amazed they can afford to put in all of these new rides so frequently now. I completely agree. At first, I just really liked the ride, and then I rode it a ton of different times in different seats. I instantly fell in love and I couldn't get enough of it. The airtime is just out of this world all over the place, and the drop and zero-g thing were perfect to give you almost perfect weightlessness with a hint of laterals. We probably couldn't do Lightning Run re-rides because we sat out on the brakes for at least 15 minutes with your legs being crushed
  15. I was at the park for my first time today, and I was blown away! I was going into it expecting very little, but wow. They have awesome water park, my second favorite just behind Splashin' Safari (but who can beat that? ). I'll just talk about the coasters in depth here, but I also got on the weird blimp ride (don't know name), bumper cars, Fearfall (excellent drop tower. I love how it doesn't stop at the top, so you aren't ever fully sure when you'll drop), and a few other kids rides (most of our time was spent in the water park). Anyway, the reviews Storm Chaserwas amazing. It jumped to my number one. I knew it was in my top ten after my first ride, but the about 10 other rides on the blue train sealed the deal. This was also my first RMC. I've heard all the rave about how awesome their coasters are and I figured, sure they're great but wow, I was amazed, especially if this is considered a weaker one, I can't even imagine the others. I loved every second of it. The helix felt a bit overkill, as it was just barely crawling through. Not like about to valley, but just a bit extra. But of course a longer ride is welcome the barrel roll drop is tied for best drop, along with Gatekeeper I'd say. The airtime was incredible. The back of my shirt kept coming up if I would sit forward at all. Amazing ride, I was a huge fan of it. 10/10 Lightning Runwas a very good ride as well. It probably lands around my top 20. It was just a bit short. Again, perfect airtime like Storm Chaser. Don't get me wrong, this was an amazing ride, but a bit short for it to be in my top 10. A big problem I had today was the dispatch times on this ride. They were atrocious. First ride, there was one girl who couldn't quit talking to her friend who was working the control panel. People would have their seat belts and lapbars already set before she would even stop talking and go check them. And she had the nerve to even walk all slow to go check seats She would make dispatch times around 3.5 minutes. Problem guy #2 couldn't quit talking to his friend working the other side of the train. Thankfully with him though, he would talk while checking seats. However, he would stop midway through the train and dance or flex or something. Have fun on your job, I get it, but atrocious dispatch times are not very fun. This guy wasn't near as bad and averaged about 2.5 minutes I'd say. 8.5/10 Thunder Run is a nice one and done ride. It was a solid woodie, but it just wasn't for me. There was one horrible jolt at the curve after the first drop that gave my younger sister's head a nice jolt right into the metal part of the train. Ouch. 6.5/10 I now understand the hate for SLCs after I rode T3. Like Storm Chaser, it was my first of that type of coaster; SLC. It was basically the opposite, I figured it couldn't be that bad but sweet Jesus this hurt your thighs. My mom and sisters all had marks on their thighs from where the restraint crushed down. Ouch part 2. Burn this to the ground and install a real B&M invert please and thank you. will give credits to the ops though, they were cranking trains out very quickly. 2/10 Overall, I was a big fan of this park. It felt like the equivalent of Holiday World for me. I had a great day and would definitely recommend this park to anyone. Sorry for the book, but just wanted to put this out there. Also gotta have SOMETHING to do on the 2 hour ride home
  16. Oops well maybe they bought the land off of them . Kidding. But at least that's rather impressive that HW is drawing in the crowds for them to potentially be making more cabins/RV camps. I'm thinking that it could mean that there's some serious growth going on either in the future, or this is all just catching up after last year's giant crowd increase. Hopefully it's the first thing
  17. ^ I didn't even think about that. It looked like HW property with how close it is but I guess they do run right up next to each other. Here's about where it was. This isn't exact, and it may have been further in one direction or another.
  18. Sorry I didn't get any pics of it, I didn't have a phone charger on me in the park today and it died , I'll try to next time if someone hasn't already by that time. But anyway, I was going up to Jungle Racers when I heard sounds of construction. Climbing up the first flight, if you look straight out ahead, there's a fair sized clearing of trees in the middle of the woods. It's currently about the size of what Hallowswings would take up. However, they just recently started, I know, because I was there last week and there was nothing going on there. Anyway, I think it'll be a water park attraction. Either that or maybe the screamscape new coaster rumor is true. They started in a very odd spot, in my opinion; in the middle of the woods. But they may be just starting there in an attempt to hide it. Anyway, just thought I'd share so let the speculation/madness begin
  19. Agreed. I just don't see HW doing any kind of changing of the layout, maybe not even any reprofiling. It'd be amazing if they could get topper track out to Voyage because I absolutely love this ride but as you said, it gets VERY rough later on in the season. GCI, I think, is out of the picture. They have yet to really create anything even close to Voyage. But who knows, maybe they'd be willing to at least work on something that large. They obviously did an amazing job with Legend, but I'm afraid a refurb like that wouldn't last all too long because of how large and extreme Voyage is, if they were even willing to do anything to it.
  20. My family and I are considering a trip over to KK some time soon. Possibly this weekend. Would it be completely insane tomorrow or manageable? I doubt this Sunday would be an option, but if it was, would it be a whole lot better than Saturday? Thanks in advance for the help
  21. I'm pretty disappointed that's not real honestly. I hate PTC trains on that ride. There's shuffling left and right and I feel that it could be an even more amazing ride with better trains.
  22. As much as I'd love a coaster, I'm not totally sure it'd happen since Thunderbird was a massive investment only 2 years ago. And the timeline of previous additions also would prove that they like to take their time. But as someone said above, holiday world does some surprising things. Anyway, just to get freak a few people out (I'm not totally sure if this is legit. It was just on my explore page on Instagram and I thought I should share).
  23. Nope not really. It just wasn't what my group wanted to do at the time, as we have season passes and did Raven a bunch last visit. And if I can convince you to go to the waterpark, I like Wildebeest more than Raven it really is amazing. I haven't been a fan, like I have of Splashin' Safari, of any other waterpark. This one is really awesome. I highly recommend that if you do end up doing the waterpark, do it all first thing. Then you'll want to switch over to the dry park. Oh, and resist the temptation to ride anything in Halloween in the morning. If you go to 4th of July or Thanksgiving, they'll be completely dead. Then, if you come to Halloween around 3:00, everything is a complete walk on. Have fun on your trip!
  24. TR, I guess you could call it, wish I took pics. I was at the park today, and man you missed out if you weren't here! And I wasn't even in Holiwood Nights so I can't even imagine the crowds there. We rode everything we wanted to a ton all in just staying from 10AM-7PM. I've got to say, just like everyone else has for the most part, Legend is amazing with the new retrack. Although I did notice it had some funky shaping at the bottom of the first drop. It's nothing taking away from the ride, just weird. Voyage was fun as usual, but still pretty rough. I had a nerdgasm whenever I was waiting in line for Thunderbird when they had to transfer one train off because of some problem with row 3. I would've taken videos, but I left my phone with non-riders I'm telling ya, it was the most satisfying thing ever to watch that thing transfer off. Major nerd, I know. I really hope one train operations/breakdowns aren't a common thing this year, as I waited 15 minutes from the top of the stairs the first time. The second time was when it broke down, and someone lost their phone on the brake run (pay attention to rules! ). I waited 30 minutes behind 3 groups for them to transfer off, test, etc. I'm not sure what's going on this year, because last year I never saw it down for maintenance reasons or running without 2 trains. Either way, awesome day, including TONS of rides! Total ride count Thunderbird-2 Voyage-4 Legend-5 Liberty Launch-1 Rough Riders-1 Eagle's Flight-1 Gobbler Getaway-a solid 3000 I'd bet Mayflower-1 Hallowswings-1 Frightful Falls-1 Raging Rapids-1 Wildebeest-2 Mammoth-1 Zinga-1 Zoombabwe (probably wrong spelling)-2 Bakuli-2 So, clearly, it was an awesome day at the park today! And hopefully Holiwood Nights was great! Hopefully I'll be able to go next year, as it looks like an awesome event.
  25. I just like the large, flowing elements on inverts. Banshee is also just so long and it feels like it goes forever. And finally, call me crazy, but I like the vests better than the original OTSR on Montu and others.
