  1. Head on over to SFA or something. They've got a better ride collection, and WAY better operations
  2. ^ Check the Carowinds thread. There's a video in there that you need to watch. Then it'll make sense. Worlds of hold up what happened here?!
  3. ^ See I'm just the opposite. I'm wondering since when have they ran four person rafts
  4. Not all teenagers are bad trust me I'm gonna make sure we're hitting capacity I just had to go put two and two together to make sure you were the same guy but you know what's funny? I saw your posts about Great Adventure recently and a few others and thought your age was a typo. Especially considering some of the idiotic posts from certain other posters your age or even much older. Between the proper grammar and quality posts I'm impressed. Keep doing your thing. Yup, 15 is right. Shocker I know Thank you! I'm glad I have coasterbill's approval

  6. I remember last year, we got stuck paying for ponchos in the Thunderbird gift shop. I think it ended last year too, as we asked if they had free ponchos still and they said no (this was in the 2015 season). The park is huge on hiring younger kids. Most of my friends (I live about 40 minutes from the park), are working there this summer. I plan to as well, in rides next year, so be looking for me (hopefully on Thunderbird!)
  7. I know; it was impressive. +1 Six Flags for sure. And it's not like we were begging for tickets or anything. We just asked out of curiosity at both, since we're from Indiana, and they came right out and offered it. To be honest, staff wise, it's close to on par with Holiday World for accommodations like this. All the ride operators were going at a good pace, despite the killer heat. But whoever mentioned bizarro operations, you're exactly right. I've never seen someone look more done with life before. Anyway, not a bad day and I can't wait for tomorrow!
  8. Yeah trust me I was pretty mad too. Thankfully everyone's been incredibly nice about the situation. We bought a flash pass to try to squeeze all the rides in before the storm. I didn't realize how big the park was! We didn't get to use them at all, and they were kind enough to refund them. And also... This place is awesome! Can't wait to come back tomorrow!
  9. Marathon Skull Mountain in the back row and then pull up the radar a little later. Can't even do that. They closed it. Only thing open in the entire park right now is dark knight, on the opposite side of the park from me right now
  10. If you thought about coming today, and opted out, you were absolutely right. I got here at 1:00 or so, and it was already pretty warm. Then somehow, it got even hotter, and Satan decided to plop his crack down on Six Flags Great Adventure. Incredibly hot. My sisters both almost threw up, from heat alone. Now, the park is closed for the incoming storm. We're gonna try to wait it out I think, since everyone always says they have such a great weather policy. We've only been on El Toro, Bizarro, Dark Knight, Nitro, Log Flume, and Skull Mountain so far. We had a flash pass for Ka, but it conveniently broke down right as we were gonna use it. They gave us a front of the line pass for this. The exact same thing happened with Superman, but for the storm. Could the locals, who know more about their policies and what will allow them to open rides, check the radar for me and see what you think of it? Will it be worth it to stay? Thanks!!
  11. ^ I'm headed there right now and it's supposed to be 97, so today should be nice for my first ride ever on it
  12. I honestly found it to be one of the smoother woodies out there. It's no RMC but it was smoother than Thunderhead and much smoother than any out-and-back I've been on. Maybe last month, but by now it's incredibly rough. It's world renown for getting rough in mid July it's perfectly fine the first couple of months, but July-on it's typically pretty rough.
  13. ^ ugh that sucks a lot. I'm going Monday, and hopefully that doesn't happen to me. This will likely be the only time I'll be able to go for a very long time. Speaking of, there's a chance of rain that day and it's pretty high. For the locals, are the crowds bad with rain? Thanks!
  14. Uh that's very odd. Usually it's about 10 or less by now. Are 2 trains running/was there some kind of downtime? Yes 2 trains and no, no downtime... the line turned out to be about a half hour. Wow. That's still crazy. Normally it would be winding down to a near walk on by that time. Must have just been an abnormally crowded day.

  16. Who said anything about not enjoying both parks? I'm just exceedingly happy that I can because this one wasn't gutted. Go back to page 228 of this very thread if you want to see just what kind of park the best case scenario for Kentucky Kingdom had in store with the Kochs in control. Actually some of the comments are uproariously funny given how things turned out. The guy that said he hates holiday world because they were gonna do KK dirty that's what I needed to see. I now get his point. That would've been a pretty awful option compared to what they've got now.
  17. ^ I think you misunderstood me. I'm saying that as a joke. I don't actually believe Bush did 9/11. It was a comparison between the two as a joke. Not a social studies lesson or whatever. Either way, who cares, let's get back to KK.
  18. Let's keep in mind that Bluegrass Boardwalk was an initiative sought out when Dan Koch was in charge. I think it's become clear that he had a different vision for their company than the rest of the Koch family. I'm a lot more comfortable with the park in the hands of Will's kids. Thunderbird (or some version of it) had been in the works for years, even before Six Flags abandoned KK. Something like that isn't a project you can throw together in one year. Do we need to trash one park to enjoy the other? Why can't both parks be good? x1000. Why can't you just enjoy both parks? This sounds something like Bush did 9/11 over here. There's no evidence whatsoever to support the fact that they never had any plans (if there is, let me know). In fact, it would make a ton of sense for them to revive KK. It would be more money for them, having two parks operating.
  19. Welcome to Indiana, where animals run just as wild as the meth addicts. Really though, I've been on voyage once, and there was a deer just taking a little peek over the edge on top of one of the tunnels. That made me a bit nervous
  20. I do agree it is intense, but that's not why I don't like it. The first drop is awesome, the following a.t. hills are decent and smooth, but the second those horridly cramped and uncomfortable trains go thru a turn, it was just painful, awful, jerky nonsense. There wasn't a smooth, comfortable moment going through any turn. The triple down even with MCBR slowing it down is great, but those turns are the worst. I would've loved to ride this thing back in the day. I could see the potential if it had good trains, but it doesn't and if I never ride it again it would be fine with me. The Legends retracking made a huge difference to that ride, maybe Voyage could benefit from the same in those twisty bits. My last ride on the Voyage, I asked the ops in the station where to sit for a more comfortable ride, this was literally the response: OP 1: gave me a blank stare and asked "are you serious?" Op 2: just laughed and in between laughs cried "no!" So again to sum up my thoughts, intensity=awesome, it has great positive and negative G's, but the awful trains and non smooth twisty bits, which make up a majority of the ride, make it too rough to enjoy it's potential epicness. I know that if you have to ride a certain way that doesn't make it a good ride blah blah blah. But with voyage, you really do have to take a more aggressive stance on it. My advice if you ever would end up riding again: lean into the turns. It saves lives
  21. I'm just trying to give suggestions. I want someone's visit to be a pleasant one and if it ends up just waiting in lines all day, that's just about as bad as having things planned. It's still important to be very flexible but all of these suggestions are just in general. It's just what I would do personally.
  22. It'll be pretty rough. Saturday is crazy compared to Friday. I don't know enough about KK crowds to give you a for sure answer there but I do know for a fact that Holiday World should be jam packed on a Saturday in July. Water coasters will get 1-2 hour waits, Thunderbird about 45 minutes, all the other coasters, not horrible if you ride around 2-3 PM. It depends what you want to get done at each park (how many flats, slides, etc) to make a decision on where to go and when. Thanks for this. We were initially planning to get there before opening, ride only the coasters in the first hour of operation, then go knock out as many water coasters and tube slides (minus the toilet-bowl one) as we can, and then return to coasters after SS closed. We're not really interested in body slides, flat rides, or shows. IMO the best would be to get there at opening and run right to Voyage and Thunderbird. Raven and legend get crazy lines in the morning but then end up walk on (or close to it) in the afternoon. If you would be ok with it, I recommend leaving the waterpark (maybe just leave swimsuits on and put on shirt since it's so close) around 3:00. Then ride legend and Raven real quick, as that's the shortest they'll get. Then you could return to the waterpark. Again, just depends on which things you want to FOR SURE get done, and which you're willing to risk not being able to get to.

  24. It's pretty good. Nothing like Fury or something, but far better than stand ups. Thanks to good operations, and a short ride cycle, it's pretty good at eating through a line. On average, the second train will stack on the brakes for 10 seconds or so, before the train in front is dispatched. Many times the wait is due to either guests or the ride being on rain mode. It is very difficult to not stack a train on the transfer in rain mode. This may sound ignorant, but what is rain mode?
  25. If you're used to modern/typical B&M if will take you by surprise. It's a great ride and worth lapping. I meant capacity but it's an awesome ride. It's at my home park and my personal favorite in the park. I got over 160 rides last season
