  1. First trip of the season to the park yesterday morning with my son (7 years old now). He is still on 48 inches high..so no Behemoth or Leviathan for him yet (and he is autistic so there will be a LOT of training to work him up to those). Managed to get Vortex, Minebuster and Stunt Coaster done before the park got mobbed. It adds an interesting slant to the roller coaster pastime when your child is autistic and we are trying to coax him through anxieties and reassure others that he is OK. A topic that i am sure has been discussed on TPR....I will have to search for it methinks. anyway,I thought the new bits of the water park look really nice, and we are looking forward to trying out the new funnel slide. I don't have much to add yet on the construction site and the site where Skyrider was. I am guessing like many other people. There will definitely be something put there though...as it looks pretty bleak right now, and Wonderland is not known for being an unpicturesque park! I was surprised though (as I mentioned earlier) that they have NOT added anything the Wonder mountains "Guardian". When the park gets busy, the line just files out the mountain, no ropes, no line system or anything. Rather disorganised in my opinion, and surprising as when the ride opened last year the general talk was how much extra theming CW/CF could do in this area. I said before that a shop might be a good idea on exit....more opportunity for merchandise sales. Not sure why this remains so underdeveloped (particularly the line up!).
  2. This is what I like about the coaster world is the diversity in what people like and don't. In my short time on this site aswell...I have no problem with it either...it is interesting to read..especially when you wonder what you might be missing on some ride that others have raved about. Anyway...hate is too strong a word for me on coasters..but the two I was pretty MEH about that others seemed to like are Kumba at Busch Gardens, and Goliath at SFMM. Both my wife and I got off Kumba expecting to have felt something different...for once we were both in agreement that it was underwhelming (to us). I like Millenium Force...but prefer Leviathan...which again seems to put me below the Golden ticket awards list. Not a dislike thing but I sometimes feel that I am out of step with the roller coaster going public!
  3. Here is my list....I go to Hersheypark this July so will be able to add Pennsylvania by then..and I will wager even money that Skyrush will probably be my favorite. 1 Ontario: Not a US state but still North America...Leviathan 2 Florida: Manta, I have been to all the parks and there are some great rides, too many to choose from...I just love flyers. 3 Virginia: Apollos Chariot 4 California: X2, Tatsu a close second 5 Ohio: Maverick and as an addition given my nationality 6 The 51st state Saw The Ride Hoping to add Texas and New Jersey in the next couple of years as I want to try the Iron Rattler and El Toro.
  4. Still not sure if Cedar fair will do a Wing coaster having built Gatekeeper at Cedar point recently. I don't mind either way..I actually really enjoyed Gatekeeper...but I still think they might go for something different. Whatever they do I am sure it will be pretty cool. On a more current park note...Have they done any more work on Guardian yet, as in put in a proper "queue" area outside the mountain (last year it got a bit haphazard just standing outside down to the waterfall), put in a merchandise shop or added any extra theming inside? I think the Guardian is an excellent addition to the park, but as was speculated when it opened...I am not sure if it is completely finished themewise...especially the line up area. For those that have visited already this season..have there been any upgrades? Having just read the review of the new ride at Knotts, they have that ride exiting into a shop to sell merchandise. I always thought they would do the same here.
  5. Time Warp (or Tomb raider as it started) is still quite new in terms of when it opened. In fact before Behemoth and Leviathan I think it was the last new ride to be installed (correct me if I am wrong). Do parks like Wonderland have a timeframe of how long to keep a ride after installing? I can't see a "wing coaster" coming if Cedar fairs policy is to not double up on rides they have at Cedar Point. Maybe the trick to guessing what is coming is to think what they don't have at CP and then apply it to CW. When people talk about a ride with inversions...are they talking a Banshee, Montu type ride?...or something else? Just curious.
  6. Greetings...first time poster on TPR but LONG time lurker. The quick overview....a Brit, who spent teenage years in Australia, before moving back to the UK before marrying a Canadian lass (hence the handle) and moving to Toronto. Have been a theme park/roller coaster fan since teenage years (first coaster was in Hong Kong at Ocean park), in the last 10 years myself and the family have started visiting different parks on an annual basis. My son is 7 years old and I am trying to work him up to the biggies. My top 5 (in my opinion only) are 1 X2, 2 Tatsu 3 Apollos Chariot 4 Maverick 5 Leviathan (front row for me). I have been coming to Wonderland now for the last 10 years (since I moved to Canada) and I have followed this thread with interest...and have great interest and respect for all the information and opinions shared. I will say I do find it amusing in the roller coaster world when it simply only a matter of opinion what one likes and dosen't, people get flamed for saying such and such is a great/crap ride. I will never have a problem with someone telling me they don't like "X" and I should like "Y". For this hobby it is all down to preference. I don't have Millenium force in my top 5 (it is in the top 10)...I don't have any rides from Florida in the top 5 and I have been to the parks there....I am not too big a fan of loads of inversions.....I actually quite like "Flight deck".....sacrilege huh! Oh well...that is why this site is a good place to read and learn....I like others knowledge and opinion. Anyway......I joined at this point in time because I am enjoying the speculation on the possible new coaster coming to Wonderland in the future (as an aside...I fall into the camp of those that think Cedar fair has done an AWESOME job in bringing Wonderland into one of the better parks to come to....Leviathan and Behemoth were a pipedream in the Paramount days when I started coming....Guardian is fun aswell (my son loves it)). I am reading with interest the thoughts on possible types of coaster that could be brought here...and I would like your opinions on the idea of a "flyer"...a la "Tatsu" at SFMM or "Manta" at Seaworld. My rational comes from earlier in the thread with the naming theme (people up in arms at Ziz or whatever it is). If the theme is beast of the land, sea..then air...to me a flyer would fit that category. Tatsu is my second favourite coaster so I have a vested interest...could it be something that Wonderland would consider...especially given the B and M connection with those two rides. I don't foresee a "wing coaster" due to Gatekeeper at Cedar point...it has been discussed about the so called proximity issues between those two parks (I don't buy it myself). I also don't see a Maverick clone again given the CP conundrum. Anyway I hope to contribute over time on these threads...this will be my home thread for sure given I live here. I will try to be of some interest over time.
