Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

They are both about the same as far as smoothness, Magnum is a bit more thrilling with the "tunnels" and the pretzel turnaround at the end. I've from some people that they prefer Steel Force over Magnum though. -

I think Dino's alive would make a great place for kids to go on a field trip if you are learning about that kind of thing. Speaking of this, did any go to Dino's After Dark last year? I know they are doing it again this year but I'm curious about the experience. -

If anyone else here goes on Ultimaterollercoaster.com there is a small Valleyfair forum there as well. Just sharing the thoughts of what a user on there posted earlier today. It's interesting to here other people's theories. This is what he/she wrote: Just stumbled across this as I was looking at maps of vallyfair. And I think I figured out where a B&M Invert might go. If you look at a Google Earth of the park, there is a huge overflow car park parallel to steel venom, but back a ways. With my experience at vallyfair, I've never seen a single car in that area, and I've always bean there on busy days. For 2016, I think they should fence off the extra parking lot, make it look nice, and put a brand new B&M Invert there. There would be no need to take down any rollercosters currently in the park, and it would be a great extension to the park. It would be similar to what Six Flags Magic Mountain did with Scream! -

I just want our B&M invert to have something unique about it that no other coaster has, Valleyfair deserves some of that media attention. It just really surprised me that Xtreme Waterparks decided to film here. I've seen the show before they have featured waterslides way beyond the intensity of Valleyfair's. I'm not saying they arent thrilling, it just amazes me. -

All the Cedar Fair parks show the same roller coaster clips for their commercials, they just change the park name obviously. Valleyfair has been showing that invert commercial for the past few years. -

Just a recap from earlier...but where exactly were the pavement markings by the amphitheater and the one's by panda express someone said they saw? I couldn't spot them the last time I was at the park. Was there any speculation on those? -

I highly doubt they would replace Ripcord with a slingshot, you get more of a freefall feeling on the Ripcord which I think attracts thrill seekers more. It does fairly well for itself financially. -

I agree with ACES, on a hot weekend in July, they will need everything at the waterpark open. I can see them not having the panic falls speed slides closed, but the lazy river? The lazy river can be a popular attraction for families so I can't see them closing that on a busy day. I know the park is short staffed, but I thought Dave Frazier said they need more ride operators than anything else. -

The new slides were exactly what I expected them to be. The orange and yellow slides were a bit painful but I also noticed those ones aren't very popular. It wasn't a very busy day, but the lifeguards stated those don't get a lot of guests probably because they are so steep. On another note, why isn't the lazy river or the panic falls speed slots in operation? -

Alright guys, i'll be at the park tomorrow trying out the new slides for the first time. What should I expect? Are the breakers plunge slides really painful? I won't be there til early afternoon so I'm really hoping the rain will hold out and the sun will stay out at least til 5 or 6! -

I just still don't know how I feel about a waterpark parking lot for guests. The past few years, I haven't seen Valleyfair's main parking lot even half full. I understand it would be easier access for guests and they want to try the concept out here like they did at Kings Island but is it really worth the investment? I do like that yellow shaded area for a new coaster in that previous picture though. -

As discussed numerous times in this forum, I don't think the invert would be a front entrance coaster, we already have steel venom and part of wild thing close to the entrance so I doubt that will happen. But you never know, with the recent news a new spot for a coaster could be anywhere. As for Excalibur, It has said that on their website since spring, the back of the park always closes early due to Haunt....It says the same thing for Thunder Canyon. -

I really don't think we would get a Windseeker. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but aren't all of the CF Windseeker's exactly 301 feet? That wouldn't work with the height restriction and I highly doubt they would want to make it shorter than Power Tower, kind of defeats the purpose. Although if are considered for a Windseeker at 301 feet, lets talk Giga's -

If you've ever seen an episode of "Xtreme Waterparks", you would know why they want young and fit people to be featured Back on Exaclibur though, when I was last at the park, basically if you didn't have someone waiting to take your spot when the train returns, you can ride again. There were two young girls who had ridden it 26 times in row. Need I say more? It has to leave and with one train on the track I have no doubt it will go. -

This is the rumor we are all kind of waiting on. But as of right now yes, everything has just been opinions about what would happen if Excalibur was gone. -

I really don't think the 2nd Excalibur train will be back on the track this season. If it does close though, I'm not sure when they'll make the announcement. I tried to look at the dates to see past Cedar Fair ride closures and there doesn't seem to be a trend. But with the latest Carowinds announcement, I would hope it would come soon. -

This is a random question, but does anyone know if there is a military discount for admission on non military appreciation days? Hoping a Valleyfair employee can tell me. Couldn't find the info on the website. UPDATE: I found the answer on the FAQ page. -

They talked about Valleyfair on screamscape when the waterpark rumors expansion rumors were deciding to float around. I think if a sufficient rumor was to go around, it would end up on screamscape. For now, we just have fan observations. But I don't know where screamscape gets its information from. -

I got the screenshot below from the Cedar Fair webpage, that must have been edited in but it depends on who sent it. When I looked on the Cedar Fair mobile site though, when you click on parks VF or KI wasn't listed. I thought I would check the mobile site just to be sure it wasn't on there. -

IF a waterpark expansion comes our way, I'd like VF to get a toilet bowl slide or a water coaster would be even better. Something like the zip coaster at Kalahari or the Black Anaconda at Noah's Ark.
