  1. Oh and while we're on the topic of Supergirl, the ride closed multiple times today after having malfunctions with riders onboard. So after a failed member preview, it's still having issues. Someone I know that was on the ride said that it was perfectly fine, but then the ride began to lower down like normal, before shaking violently and stopping mid-air. After being let off, the guests that had that experience were supposedly just given exit passes. Then they tested the ride, reopened it, and had the same issue at least two more times. I wonder if there's some kind of defect? One of the passes that was given to a guest that was stuck on the ride
  2. I knew that DC was very strict with their IP, but that's ridiculous. DC was also the reason why they stopped doing super hero meet and greets regularly, because they wanted to approve their own actors to fit the roles. They even fly the actors out to the parks just to make appearances. I don't remember if that's been discussed here before. So that Supergirl that was at the park today is likely the same one they used for the Justice League opening ceremonies.
  3. I mean I'm really just trying to have a conversation about it. Just because it's been talked about before doesn't mean I can't talk about it? I get that it seems bitchy, (sorry) but it's something that not only I care about. That being said, I know I'm in the minority. I actually do appreciate a lot of what the park does, and I apologize for not talking about those aspects. I wasn't planning on it. I do surveys like that all the time. And 25 active followers? You clearly haven't been following me for that long. I don't know why you keep mentioning my page though, it's really besides the point.
  4. The moon cars were actually part of the Missouri section if I remember correctly, but you've got a point with the log flume. I mean they weren't going for 100% historical accuracy, but it was still cool because Angus Wynne wanted you to feel like you'd stepped into another part of the world that you've never been to before. If guests don't want that now, then so be it. But that's a shame.
  5. Also a coincidence is that Six Flags posted the wrong date for member preview and opening on their Facebook page, and I just ran with it assuming it was correct. I didn't even know the right date until before I posted about it on this forum, when I had (like a dumbass) still posted the wrong date because it was in my head still. I'll admit, that's on me. Funny, one of your coworkers told me the exact same thing about the park's GSS score and how that apparently makes my argument invalid. She also keeps trying to tell me to be "more positive" about the park on an unaffiliated fan/news page. She also, like you, apparently thinks I never shut up about Supergirl despite the fact that I posted about the the ride and its theming on my page a whopping two times since it was announced in August. The Speed O'Drome actually did have a purpose and a backstory, as silly and shoehorned is as it was. Then with The Boss they almost retroactively tried to tie it in, and now they just don't even try, hence why it bothers me. When Time Warner sold Six Flags to Premier, they specifically wanted them to retain and maintain the existing parks as well as convert some of Premier's existing properties into Six Flags parks, so that the company's legacy would live on. I don't think they ever intended for Premier AKA Six Flags to just say "screw it" and go against what had been established, otherwise they would have never sold the company to them. Kieran Burke and Gary Story wanted Six Flags to be all about roller coasters and thrill rides and were ignorant to mostly everything else, and so here we are.
  6. No, you're right. This isn't what Randall Duell or Angus Wynne had in mind. The "theming doesn't matter at Six Flags" talking point is just noise. Let me remind you what the name "Six Flags" means again?
  7. I mean it's not really a "coincidence", I just pay attention. And it's not like I'm the only person that has this opinion
  8. So Six Flags released this picture of Supergirl, for those of you who haven't had the chance to see it yet. It looks very tacky amongst the rest of the Britannia section of the park. It really sticks out like a sore thumb. Look at that tiny bit of medieval theming peeking out on the right, LOL
  9. Nobody has said that it opens on the 27th because it opens on the 25th with Membership Preview being on the 24th. Yeah my bad, I totally mixed up that date and Memorial Day for some reason. That's why you proofread, kids.
  10. Since nobody's said it here yet, Supergirl Sky Flyer opens to the public on May 27!
  11. Yeah, it'll be fine. I hope it's a fun event, and I'm interested to see what kind of live music they end up doing. I could see Six Flags making this an annual event if it's successful.
  12. The difference there is that Mardi Gras is a well-known and widely celebrated holiday outside of New Orleans. I don't know how culturally relevant Woodstock even is nowadays outside of New York, but I'm sure you won't necessarily need to know what it is to enjoy it?
  13. Hope it's not Six Flags. That would be a bad move on their part I just spoke with someone from the park that works in entertainment and they said "It is none of our business if Woodstock happens or not". So I guess it's not as involved with the actual organizers and is more of just a tribute? Kinda weird that they'd make such a big deal out of it being the 50th anniversary then, especially considering Woodstock has nothing to do with St. Louis.
  14. From what I just read it's not cancelled, but it seems like that's certainly a possibility. I didn't even know about the situation until you said that, and it's pretty nuts. Talk about weird timing for Six Flags to announce a tie-in event to a music festival when the actual festival probably won't even happen.
  15. Six Flags announced "Flagstock" today, a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the annual Woodstock music festival in New York. The event will be on August 17th and 18th, the second and third days of the three-day run of Woodstock 50 this year. The park has said that along with "Peace, Love, & Coasters", there will be live music as well as special food offerings. There will be more announced at a later date. The (appropriately) very 1960's logo for Flagstock
  16. I've gotta say, gripes with the lazy theming aside, I'm actually pretty excited to ride this thing. I unfortunately was never able to ride Highland Fling (yes, I know), and hopefully this lives up to it or is even better. Should we expect it to open by Memorial Day weekend?
  17. That's definitely not true. It really just varies from park to park, like I've said before. Is theming overall much less prominent than it was in the 90's? Yeah, for sure, but it's definitely not a "thing of the past". All of our areas are still referred to as such, and they've all retained their theme for the most part. The problem is that most guests don't even know that the park is divided into different sections, because Six Flags doesn't do a great job of telling you where you are in any given location. Studio Backlot, Britannia, and Bugs Bunny National Park are the only areas that have an entrance sign. That's way different than SFGAM, which has entrance signs for every single area in the park. As for getting more DC-themed rides, who knows what will happen. But I've heard that there are going to be a lot of big changes in the next couple years as we approach the 50th anniversary, and part of that would most likely be fixing the layout and making everything more consistent.
  18. I can see from that image that Supergirl has the same light package as Catwoman here st SFOT. Yes! I'm assuming that it'll probably do the same patterns if not a little different, but let's just hope that it doesn't fall into disrepair within a couple years. Six Flags St. Louis has a bad track record with lighting packages breaking, not working properly, or just being removed entirely. (I'm still mad about SkyScreamer) Also, I recently realized that with Supergirl there are now three areas of the park (Studio Backlot, Illinois, and now Britannia) that have DC-themed attractions outside of DC Comics Plaza. Isn't that a little much? I get that we're in the golden age of super heroes and WB wants to use the DC brand as much as possible, but it just feels shoehorned into everything at this point, and is now being used in places it doesn't belong (in my opinion).
  19. I'm very happy to see that the exterior of the Hall of Justice is finally getting some work done. That bubbly, peeling mess was so awful to look at and I hope Six Flags never works with whatever contractor was in charge of that ever again.
  20. Some people say The Boss needs an RMC makeover, but every year that goes by the chances of that seem to get lower and lower, especially since they just spent a bunch of money modifying the track last year. As for the other woodies, Screamin' Eagle is a coaster landmark and will most likely always be left the way it is, and American Thunder is probably too compact and just doesn't need it. I'm still holding out hope that we get some kind of new coaster for the park's 50th anniversary, whatever that may be.
  21. Ultimately, "my group" has no say who can buy season passes and enter the park because I don't work for Six Flags. I respect the way that you see behavior as it relates to individuals, but in my opinion it's a different story when you're talking about public places like theme parks, especially with a company that has bad history with guest safety and gang violence at its parks. But honestly it's not a problem until it's a problem, other than drunk people punching Daffy Duck there isn't any reason for the park to be concerned. I just hope it doesn't ever become an issue. Can we move on now, please?
  22. This forum just really isn't worth my time anymore. I guess if I'm going to get banned for standing up for myself, now's the time to do it Replying with a JPG of a shovel makes you look real cool and edgy, by the way. That makes me so upset.
  23. You also just accused me of being a racist with no basis, when it was pretty obvious what I meant. So I was telling you why you're wrong If you're going to be inflammatory and try to start flame wars on the internet just because you can, this isn't the time or the place to do that.
