  2. King Louie's Winter Walk-through 2019 Report! Hi guys! On February 16th, 2019 I was able to attend Kentucky Kingdom's off season event, King Louie's Winter Walk-through. For those who don't know the park started this tour in 2017 under the event name "Keys to the Kingdom" and i was fortunate to attend the first event. I was not able to attend the event last year as it was held the same day as Winter Chill Out at Cedar Point. However this year I made sure to attend no matter what. Since the park reopened under Ed Harts management in 2014, the park has installed 2 brand new roller coasters, refurbished two existing coasters at the park and is adding their 6th coaster in 2019, The Kentucky Flyer. Kentucky Flyer is being constructed by Gravity Group and will be located on the waterpark side of the park, with the entrance being located near the parks craft beer garden and Skycatcher. It is also amazing to say that the park is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2019 Here are some interesting notes about the presentation we received at the start of the event and during our walk-through: As noted the park is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2019 Along with the 30th anniversary, merchandise of former rides will be available. The items shown during our presentation included t-shirts of Chang and Vampire Rock N' Roller is being relocated to King Louie's Playground this season and will take the place of the parks former Somba Baloon Ride Kingdom Fries will be returning this season Thunder Run's 180 degree turn near Storm Chaser and Eye of the Storm is receiving a complete re-track. Everything mechanical on the parks Raging River Rapids Ride came from Opryland. Frightfully Funny Fire Engine will not be returning this season. Enough babbling on here is pictures from the event as well as coverage over on Youtube Happy Family and Journey To Atlantis will return this year. The former ride location for Rock N' Roller. The old location will return to being a location with tables and umbrella's Frightfully Funny Fire Engine will not be returning this season. Thunder Run's 180 degree turn near Storm Chaser and Eye of the Storm is receiving a complete re-track. The Waterpark skyline is changing this year and you dont see me complaining! The station area is in the process of being constructed A look at the start of the rides Quad down. The first of 4 airtime moments starts on the right as you travel downwards. A look at the lift area of the ride as well as the final airtime hill into the brake run. The shaping on the last hill reminded a lot of us of Magnum's final bunnyhills. The transfer switch is in place as well as one of the lift chain gears. This pathway will be the rides entrance/exit The ride's transfer barn. One train will be stored here at night while the other train is in the station. Steel rails for the track are awaiting their placement. I would like to send a special thank you to everyone at Kentucky Kingdom for allowing myself and others to attend the tour that was put together and for everything they did during the tour. If you haven't been to Kentucky Kingdom before or thought of going back, please consider it. Kentucky Flyer is looking amazing and it is looking to be a great year for the park! The new location for Rock N' Roller, replacing the parks Somba Balloon Ride
  3. I was fortunate to ride the ride on opening weekend last year i think 3 times. It was fun, it was a headbanger and it was unique. Im sad to see it go but also excited for the future of the spot where the ride stood. I also think the mountain will go with the ride since the ride's supports are intertwined with it. Please enjoy an off-ride video I made on Saturday of the ride:
  4. I think we all forget one thing. When Firehawk was cut from its installation at KI in 2001 and was sold to SF, SF thought of adding the ride to...................................................SFKK. With the recent addition to GL, they decided to put it there.
  5. ^ I to will be there and cannot wait to see the progress of the ride (and maybe/hoping to stand right up next to it like we where allowed to do for Storm Chaser/Lightning Run during the first event the park held in 2017)

  7. It seems the same demo crew that worked on SOB is back at the park for another job.........
  8. The Autos construction site is looking great, firehawk deconstruction has yet to start, racer has received a retrack on the blue sides turn around, and the all new employee dorms are coming along nicely! Also got to test out my new camera from Christmas! Have a happy new year guys and get ready for new rides opening later this year! Also Check it out here:[youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Firehawk train still on site Racer retrack!
  9. I wouldn't call this a TR but i wanted to show some things from my visit last Saturday to the park for Winterfest. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be][youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Firehawk is still standing and the only thing that has been done that I know of is the proxies where removed along with the trains and sent to Carowinds. Racer is getting a complete retrack in some sections for next year! Speaking of racer for 2019 new LED lights have been installed around the lift and drop and hopefully more will be installed through the entire course! Overall the park continues to improve every year since its triumphamt return last season and it is easy to see that this is a guest and season pass holder hit and I highly recomend it
  10. And on top of that comes to the forum to brag about it Hey now the line was only about 15 minutes long so it wasnt that bad!
  11. With closing day behind us, I just wanted to share some pictures captured! Surprisingly, Urgent Scare's pathways where open all day and gave some great day time views of Red Racer after the split! (The first Banshee picture is from Slingshot's exit) I was fortunate to get 5 rides in on Firehawk Sunday as well as being able to be on the last public train of the ride!
  12. Kings island within the next week and MAYBE CP sometime soon. Haven’t been doing a lot of traveling recently.
  13. Kings Island officially opened up for the 2018 season on April 15th, 2018 and i can honestly say, for an opening day, it wasn't very crowded! One of the new additions for this year was the Coney Bar-B-Que! Let me tell you this! IT. IS. AMAZING! So may different options and its all cooked IN HOUSE! As you can see below, i had the rotisserie Chicken with Mac 'N Cheese as well as the Smoked Queen City Sausage with a baked sweet potato! Other things i noticed around the park: -Dinos are GONE and their seems to be a little bit of construction/activity in the area -The former dinos gift shop area has now become a designated smoking area for guests. As always the park looks amazing, the new additions seemed to be well received by guests and season pass holders! The rides are running very good this season! Stay tuned for the CP opening weekend TR followed by Coasterstock! CONEY BAR-B-CUE Turkey legs has a new permanent home on International Street! Hanks Burrito Shack!
  14. Carowinds has always been one of the Cedar Fair parks that i love to visit outside of the normal (to me) Kings Island and Cedar Point. I was fortunate to be able to visit the park during the trip to Kings Dominion and what started off as a sad day upon arriving, turned out to be a pretty good day! Upon getting to the park, we where all excited as it had looked like everything was open...............well that changed as soon as we where greeted by a sign that stated "Carolina Goldrusher, Intimidator, Fury 325 and Nighthawk where closed for it not being warm enough". Yes it was quite a bummer but never the less we carried on and got rides on all the other coasters. We then ate, walked a little bit around Camp Snoopy, rode some more rides and by this time (it was about 1:30-2 PM) we started to see Fury cycle so we watched it from the front gate and watched it almost valley......twice. So we though that it was going to be fun since they will get the track warmed up with cycling and get it open with running the trains..................well that didn't happen. They didn't open the ride for another hour and was only having one train ops... grant it the park wasn't crowded because of the weather but seriously? One train ops? On FURY 325......... oh well at least i got my back ride in and can still say its my #1 coaster. Intimidator followed suite later on and ran one train and that had already gained a long line within opening so i just skipped out on it and filmed with my camera. Everything else opened up (except for goldrusher) by the end of the day and my buddies where able to get almost all of the credits! Here are my thoughts on my visit: -Fury, Afterburn and Carolina Cyclone where great as always -Hurler is still running okay and i thought it was getting smoother ( a tiny bit) near the back seat. -Camp Snoopy Looks amazing!! I was sad to not see the flyers set up this year (from my understanding they will be back next year with a refurbishment) but the area looks amazing! there are some nice new additions and the camp snoopy fountain where the old carousel sat is a really nice touch! You also include some porch suspended swinging chairs installed and its pretty cool! - I don't really have any complaints about the park from this visit, but i would like to know. Why not keep the classic carousel sound (drums, keys, cymbals stuff like that) on a carousel and instead give it new high tech speakers and have it play a soundtrack? As always enjoy the videos, and I will return soon with a KI Opening Weekend trip report!! ( I will edit the photots in when i am able to)
  15. WHEW! What a week (or two). I would like to show you all the TR from Twisted Timbers Media Day, KD Opening Day and Carowinds Opening Weekend!!!! But before Carowinds, lets take a look at Kings Dominion and Twisted Timbers! First off I want to say i am sorry for the lack of pictures. With a new camera, I've been mainly focusing on filming and haven't been using my phone for pictures at all. (Sadness, i know) but anyways here it goes! I was fortunate enough to receive an opportunity to attend Twisted Timbers Media Day as a rider (or guest in another words) as part of ACE. This was actually my first ever Media Day ever. After entering the park and heading back into Candy Apple Grove, we where greeted with a presentation! Then onto the ride! HOLY COW Although the rides I had where on the colder side, even though the cold was a factor, the ride was still relentless! Starting with the drop you get a pretty good amount of hang time! After leaving the drop and going over the over bank around the station (which pulls some good forces), the ride kicks into 5 airtime hills (1 very small bunny hill, 3 larger airtime hills and one more small bunny hill) and the airtime on this part is amazing!! The ride cuts back over through the cutback (which gives some good hang-time), into a trick-track double up (with more ejector airtime), into an outer-banked turn near the queue and fast-lane line, hitting another small bunny-hill, into a zero g roll, couple small over-banked turns, couple more bunny hills and back into the oddly angled brake run to the station! (What i mean by that is as the train enters the transfer section, the brake run is angled up, after going onto the transfer, the transfer is level, and the return to the station is angled down). Overall I think this is one of the best rides in the park. Its hard to choose between Volcano, I305 AND TT as the best in the park. Onto another thing we where able to try out.... FOOD! The two shown below where new for the 2018 season, MAC BOWL and A Twisted Burger (in a slider form though). The MAC BOWL was Delicious! As picture below it may not look good to some, but the tiny portion we where able to get had the following on it: Regular MAC N Cheese, Pepperjack Cheese, tomatoes, chives and chicken! The Twisted slider was also very good! It included: Hamburger patty, Barbecue Sauce and fried onions (think of it almost like a rodeo burger from Burger King but with deep fried onion on it). With all of these additions to the park, we could tell that along with ourselves, but many others where very please with everything and they where great additions!! ] Onto Preview Night and Opening Day! I must be really used to opening days at KI because i thought it would've been more packed than i thought....................needless to say within the entire preview night, all coasters where rode minus Backlot and Apple Zapple (they where rode however for my buddies that needed the credits on opening day). Some firsts however happened on Preview night. I got my first rides on Volcano (and almost a rollback) as well as my first rides on Avalanche! Both rides are amazingly fun!!!!! Also this was my first time actually eating in park food as I had Outerhanks Fish, Mac Bowl (again) and Borders and i have NO COMPLAINTS! (Other than the kiosk's would not honor my all season dining and meal plan on my platinum pass......). Also As it was a bummer as i was looking forward to riding it, Crypt was closed and it had a tarp over it (as you can see in the vlog). It has reopened though. Overall the park looks amazing even though it snowed the day before opening and all the rides where running! Enjoy the pictures and videos and stay tuned for Carowinds!!!
  16. Hey guys, I visited the park on opening day and Loved it! Find out more in my Trip Report Here
  17. Whats up guys! This thread will be the home for all park TR's from parks I visit in 2018! Hope you like it! Trip Reports Posted: Silver Dollar City, March 2018 Twisted Timbers Media Day / Opening Day Coverage Carowinds Opening Weekend! Kings Island Opening Day ================================================================================================================================================= On March 14th, 2018, I visited one of the USA's most notable theme park in the country. Silver Dollar City. Never before have i been to the park, but I have visited the sister park, Dollywood, last April. Boy was I amazed at this park. Not only did it feel like a great theme park, but everyone makes you feel like family! Its great! Unfortunately as income was a little scarce, I did not eat anything at the park as we all had bought road trip snacks to eat on the journey and at the park. So no, once again I did not get Cinnamon Bread at EITHER HERSCHEND PARKS Anyways my thoughts on the coasters (We didn't see any flats that caught our eye to ride) -Time Traveler: OH BUDDY. We upgraded our ticket for the day to be one of the first public riders out on the ride, and lucky enough (after catching a shirt or two), we where on the third public train out of the station. If theirs one thing that i did not like about the ride was it was a little chilly and it didn't seem to be pacing good going over the over-bank turns, but with the cold weather came the best thing on the over-banks, HANGTIME! Yes we got some good hangtime at the tops of those turns, as well as some good ejector over the smaller hills and transitions. I can tell that the ride was warmed up when we where on the last train of the night as it was pacing GREAT! Overall I would give the ride a solid 8/10 -Outlaw Run: What a great wooden coaster! Not only is the ride packed with speed, but the airtime is phenomenal! First ride was in last row, right side. That drop seems to go on forever and the barrel rolls at the end are amazing! There was a spot where i felt a bump in the car at the bottom of the first drop though (seems to be a thing with RMC topper tracks in the Herschend company....................if you get that joke good for you, im kidding though lol)Our second ride was in the very front, right side and the ride seemed to have really warmed up by then. That first over-bank is amazing and not to mention that I loved the hand-chopper that is when you dive under the lift hill. I would give Outlaw a solid 8.5/10) -Wildfire: To me I thought that this seemed like every other B&M out there, but i enjoyed it! It seemed pretty smooth to from my two rides in the front and back! I would give it a 6.5/10 -Thunderation: A very good Arrow mine train, seemed pretty smooth however I only took one ride on it. Loved the drop after the lift hill as well as the forceful helix's before encountering the lift. 7/10 -Powder Keg: Why oh why are there not more rides like this built by S&S! (Or am i just blind and there are more than I think I know). This ride is amazing! Not only do you get a launch that is good and forceful, but you also have a lift hill with an amazing drop! Honestly I think this coaster is #3 overall at the park, behind Outlaw and Time Traveler. 8.5/10 -Fire In The Hole: Very fun ride. Loved the dark ride part of it and unlike Blazing Fury, the water splashdown was working and that caught myself and the others by Surprise! 6/10 Overall I loved the park, however with that said, I probably will not make it out to the park again until they add another coaster since it is a 10 hour trek from Ohio. How bout some videos and pics! (Bare with me on these TR as I am using a new camera and still working on getting the best picture and quality out of it!)
  18. Went to the park yesterday for my first time ever and LOVED IT! We where on the third public train out on TT and although it was a little chilly, our first ride blew us away! I will have a TR on another topic page up hopefully this weekend or tomorrow night!
  19. Hi guys, in need of some recomendations for the park. Myself and two other friends are excited to be visitnig the park for the first time, and we got the ERT for TT before the park opens. Where would be a good place to eat inside the park, get souvenirs, and does the park have Wifi?
  20. While some of the pictures may not be as good as the others ones posted, heres my TR from WCO! I was fortunate to be in the 8 AM group for the event and overall it was amazing as always! The itinerary was as follows: -Zombie High Haunt Maze Walk-through -Millennium Force Trains Photo Ops -Steel Vengeance Close Up Op -Dragster Hydraulic Room -Tony & Jason Presentation -Classified Media Release (shhhh.............) -On Park Laundromat Tour -Intamin Maintenance Shop Tour After all that we had about an hour to enjoy lunch and being indoors. The park added an addition to the tour this year as after the tours where done, we could go to the Amazement Shop where almost every single coaster that's not at Intamin is worked on in the off-season!Also found out that although Arrow filed for bankruptcy, they are still a company, but with S&S as most of the trains, bolts and everything are supplied by Arrow still (well technically S&S). I'm just going by what one of the leads from the maintenance shop told us..... Overall, the additions for this year are looking amazing and Steel Vengeance just looks phenomenal! I personally cannot wait for opening day! (For those who don't know and i haven't been able to keep up with the thread recently, tony did say that a first riders benfit will be coming!)
  21. It was more like 6 hours at one point, and that was on preview night! The crew had to go in at 3:30 and we didn't get out till about 1 with the last train being sent at like 12:30. If you think people are crazy for new roller coasters in Ohio, check out opening day parades for Cincinnati Reds....
