-I'm behind a bit on here, but yeah they backed up the Dragster train in maintenance mode and loaded it. I was only surprised because I'm used to Six Flags methods. This occurred with Dragster about 4 hours after opening. -No fooling on the stack out. I think I've complained on every season pass survey this season about not running 3 trains and how pathetic their operations are. It's sad really...

Good insight on that. I've always wondered about SFOT policies on weather because I've ridden Titan many times when it was just a few degrees above freezing...stupid idea...but still fun. I never really noticed it slowing down too much. I was at Cedar Point in September and around 10pm it cooled off and rained for an hour while in line for Millennium Force. Everyone thought the night was over, but they actually fired that thing back up! I wish more parks were like Cedar Point and Great Adventure in terms of weather. I can understand safety, but a few months back I watched ride ops test one train on NTAG 12 times......at Cedar Point in line for Dragster, one of the trains had an issue, they just pulled it off and put the new one on without testing it! It was my first trip there so I was amazed at the differences between Six Flags and Cedar Fair.

5-car trains didn't affect anything when I was there. Also, have had just as much fun riding in the Winter Good to know, I went last weekend around 5pm and the Giant was down for the evening. Saw both mechanics I'm used to seeing walking from the exit with 2 HUGE bags of tools...So I haven't gotten to experience it yet with one less car.

Looks pretty brutal out there according the the camera. Yet I look out my window in friggin Dallas, TX and it's pretty much the same weather as Sandusky...it's 40 and windy lol SFOT has no problems running Titan and Texas Giant in the cold, but that's getting cold enough to get frost bitten. -
Here's the deal. I know because I have many resources at the park because I grew up here. This is going to fall on Six Flags shoulders. Unless their lawyers are incredible. The hydraulic device that keeps the restraint system in place did not fail, even if it did, it has 2 back up systems to keep it in place. The odds of that are very extreme obviously. The ride ops were actually told to try and pin large size riders in because of the sue happy society of fat people feeling shammed at theme parks. The woman literally slipped out like a bar of soap because of her massive girth against the restraint and designed air time hills. The restraint returned to the station STILL locked in it's place because it never malfunctioned, this was proven. It's unfortunate what happened, but it's going to fall to Six Flags for falling to public and social media pressure. Ever since the accident, I've ridden the ride many times and felt perfectly safe before and after the accident. I've also seen a ZERO tolerance policy on if you're too fat to ride, you're not riding. So all the clues are there to exactly what happened for the public to see if you're not in the know. Their just now allowed to openly speak publicly and say "She was too big to ride." Because why? You'll hear cries and screams of discrimination and an interview of someone drinking their 6th Coke of the day from a Mega Gulp on why they think it's discrimination.

Carowinds Discussion Thread
Texascoaster89 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's quite a trip! I'm planning to fly to see the NASCAR race in late May and visit Carowinds to see Fury 325. In June I have a fly to Washington D.C. and drive to King's Dominion, CP, Canada's Wonderland, and King's Island trip planned over a week. Gonna be costly, but hey, when all you like to travel for is riding roller coasters, it's easy to save money lol -

No chance the parks ever do that. Mostly because A LOT of their fast pass buyers are people that visit once a year (like myself) and use it to maximize their trip. They wouldn't make anywhere near the money since they currently limit the number sold per day, so they'd have to limit the number of passes sold. They sell way more Fast Lane passes over the course of a season compared to season passes to locals. -

Agreed, I go to SFOT here and when I rode Mean Streak this season, it reminded me A LOT of the original Texas Giant. While yes they were both built by Dinn Corp one year apart, they essentially are brother rides. It's likely only a matter of time. The park knows people don't like it, they likely are just waiting to make their money on Gatekeeper. It wouldn't shock me if the park already has a plan with RMC to create some incredible transformation. The park knows the kind of publicity and money it will generate, so they are gonna make sure to maximize the publicity first. -

My 2 cents though, when I made my first trip to Cedar Point. Mantis was my first stand up, it wasn't bad, but I could see why people would dislike it. Being a fan of the floorless coaster type, I think the ride has a cool lay out and that it will bring some strength to the line up at the park. -

Off topic of the stand up coaster discussion, but does anyone know what time of the year Cedar Fair typically releases the park schedules for next season? I want to go to opening weekend at Cedar Point and then a week long trip to Kings Island, Kings Dominion, and Cedar Point. I'm already trying to plan flights etc. Thanks everyone! -

Do you know who the manufacturer is? If we go off of pictures, it looks like Intamin, but we'll see soon enough I imagine. -

But you can not afford them a lot unless you are rich because they are really expensive. Being responsible with your money and saving for what you want to do is not ''being rich''. I'm going to school, with a typical college kids job (one that doesn't pay great) Yet I can pay what I need to pay, keep my car running, and still managed to fly up there, rent a car, and pay for fast passes. I've hardly won the lottery. Take a lesson from Rob on this site. He talks about how he's not ''rich'' like people think he is. He's VERY responsible with his money, I don't go out drinking, I don't go out to movies. My fiancee and I know what we enjoy, Roller Coasters! All it takes is some financial responsibility to look rich and have a good few days at one of these parks. -

I never will understand the outcry of fast lane, here's the reality of it. I live in Dallas, TX. I flew and went to Cedar Point for the FIRST time ever this year! Had a blast!!! and it was thanks to fast lane! I'll be traveling to Kings Island, Cedar Point, and Kings Dominion in a week long event next year. I have to deal with Six Flags version of skip the line passes here and I don't complain about it because I can pick and choose when I know it won't be busy to show up. If you're a local and you complain about fast passes, you're just bitter in general. It's meant for people like me, who fly 1200 miles, who wish they were you to live so close to a blessed park full of the greatest rides on the planet. My money towards those things is what makes those little improvements that YOU get to enjoy year round. I have to plan flights and car rentals and food expenses, so I'll be darned if any local is going to give me the business while I pass them by in a fast lane line. -
It was a terrible thing to happen. Frankly, I believe it to be Six Flag's fault here. I really enjoyed the ride without the seat belts. But having them really didn't affect any airtime or anything of that nature. So if they should have been on, then they should have been installed before cleared to open initially.

Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?
Texascoaster89 replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm personally not a fan of my 400ft Windseeker here at SFOT. I just don't feel ''secured'' when I'm looking at chains that I think God just laughs at, he's probably thinking to himself ''Really? It's not your time yet, but one little tick and you're done!" -
That's a very pretty park, great report!

That's kind of funny to have a preference to two hates...oh who am I kidding, it's like choosing between republicans and democrats lol I'm looking forward to this transformation. -

I'm glad your experience was better, I don't typically EVER go on Saturday's as I know better. But frankly my g/f and I didn't have anything better to do so we went out there about 5 pm...you talk of let down riding the Rattler and going on TG. I wen't to Cedar Point last weekend LMAO. I basically did the order you did, we went to Sky Screamer and waited about 50 minutes, then over to the TG and that was almost an hour. Titan...I go probably 12-15 times a year and this was BY FAR my worst experience in waiting in line for Titan, especially after having the luxury of CP staff that actually got people on the trains and off very quickly. We waited almost 2 hours!! and the line wasn't even that long! It never experienced any break downs, I started timing the ride ops and they were averaging over 4 minutes per train! It was stupid slow...

I was at Cedar Point last weekend and on Saturday night the skies opened up about 1030 pm and they kept on running on Millennium Force, it only went down about 15 minutes, talk about a cold ride. Everyone in line got drenched and whenever the rain let up to a steady or light rain they would send a train. It wasn't too bad...lol

Agreed! My first trip ever to Cedar Point was last weekend, and while Mantis really wasn't that bad, I did say once was enough lol It is a cool layout for a ride and look forward to how it'll be as a floorless ride. I'm looking forward to staying in a remodeled hotel next year. I went on a budget this year so I could get flash passes and buy all the souvenirs to my hearts content. So I stayed at this place that was literally around the corner from that TGI Friday's so that I could still get to the park in no time. -

Yes most do obviously, wood rots and that sort of thing, it seem to run pretty well and wasn't all that bumpy, but the trims on the first drop really kind of kill it in my opinion. Hopefully they do just re-profile some of it and change the rides shape a bit and call it good!
