Worst Coaster Ever?
StuckInSD replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Goudurix at Parc Asterix nearly killed me. For such a pretty coaster, it loves breaking your spine. The butterfly still haunts my dreams. -

It doesn't make sense for Carowinds to have two B&M hypers in the same park, but they'er doing it anyways. Plus, why not have the best of both worlds? -
I wouldn't mind seeing Matterhorn Bobsleds getting a ride overhaul (it technically IS an Arrow coaster ). Give each side interlocking corkscrews, some Raging Bull restrains, plaster the Abominable Snowman's face on the trains, and have the splashdown shoot up walls of water like Diamondback. Maybe then, Disneyland can break the curse of "Sunken Safety Rails: The Ride". But in all honesty, I think it would be awesome if Iron Dragon or Ninja got the B&M treatment. And since we're still dreaming, it'd be awesome if Chance Morgan hopped onto the refurbishing bandwagon and take a shot at Magnum XL and Excalibur; just imagine the crazy amounts of airtime they'd try to add in. Ironically, I was gonna say every non-inverted "Boomerang" known to man, but they're all Vekoma. One can dream...

It really does come down to personal preference when it comes to these two RMCs. Just to get it out of the way, I voted Twisted Colossus mainly because it's close® to me and it really caught my attention moreso than Wicked Cyclone did (then again, they did make a BIG deal about "killing off" the old Colossus, so hype played a role). Plus, the colors give me happy pants feeling. Though, when compared to the old iterations, I think it's safe to say that SFNE needs a new Cyclone more than SFMM needs a new Colossus. Both are welcome changes, but if I had to choose only one, I'd probably go with Cyclone. Colossus, although it was old and had ride ops made loading unbearable at times, the ride was still decent even on a bad day; Cyclone caused scoliosis, good or bad ride.

If they touch The Voyage I'll lose faith in the industry. -
Like how YOLOcoaster will have a train go over the hill and one through the loop at the same time... True that might not be accurate but I think logically 3 trains would be the best way to do it. That sounds about right. They'll probably start with 4, then ops will drop the ball after the first few weeks, then take off one of the trains just cuz. Maybe they'll give it a semi-steampunk-ish theme like Twisted Colossus or maybe a graffiti style for contrast. Wishful thinking, though...

Re-evaluating the announcement, I'm a little surprised that this is the only ride confirmed, why with all the room they'll have once Rockville is cleaned up for the Gotham makeover. Maybe next year they'll announce a super looper or a Battle for Metropolis clone? Just seems odd with all the space they'll have. But hey, at least it's a roller coaster! And a new variant at that! Also, will be interesting to see if a fat train can push the number of flips up a smidge...

The Great Escape (TGE) Discussion Thread

... ouch. This makes it 10 years with no new coaster. -
Oddly enough, I wish I could ride the kiddie coaster that's at Fraiser's Frontier/Marshall Scotty's. It was my first roller coaster ever, and it's still there... sorta. Sadly, the park was caught in a flood, and never reopened. Breaks my heart to pass by the place on the I-8; nothing but a busted kiddie coaster, a dilapidated ferris wheel, and wrecked dodgems. Thank you Shane/Montezooma, for preserving the memory. :')

It'd be amazing if Colossus got the RMC treatment, but one thing that concerns me are the large, slow turns after the 1st, 3rd(ish) and 5th drops. Other conversions like Texas Giant, Medusa and Rattler all had a decent amount of speed going through most of their elements before the conversion, and though they did have their slow parts, they weren't nearly as large as the ones present on Colossus. RMC might have to completely change the layout of Colossus and, given the coaster's age (it predates the oldest coaster RMC converted by 12 years) and girth, that may be a challenge. Not saying that is isn't possible, but it's something to think about.

Carowinds Discussion Thread

Gotta love dem emotions runnin' high, for better or worse. Just looking at any sort of hyper gets my blood pumpin', and this is no exception. 6,500+ feet is a ridiculous length, and actually is a welcome change for once. There's so many new rides that have a minute or less or ride time, and sometimes I feel gypped out of my time spent waiting an hour or two to ride (*cough*Disneyland). So it's nice to see that they're giving their guests a nice amount of time to thoroughly enjoy the ride. Still dunno if I'd go with Fury, but that layout sure does look furious. -

Are you sure this thing is called Fury? Cuz I look at that repainted track, and it doesn't look furious to me. More like... confused.
