  1. This past Saturday they opened up Soaring Eagle Zip line. It is a very nicely done zip-line attraction that fly's you over the parks Main Street. You start off backward and return forward. While a on-board sound system blares old country western tunes. The sensation you get when you leave the launch pad is a falling out sensation. After that it's a nice little observational type of ride. here are some photos I took of Soarin' Eagle. I like that they have done minimal theme-ing but it still fits in the park right next to Winged Warrior and the Geronimo Sky Coaster.
  2. Next time in you are in Oklahoma City... You need to check out it's adventure themepark right downtown and walking distance from Bricktown. The River District an official U.S. Olympic Training sight. The biggest attraction is the Full Class White Water Rafting Course. The SkyWalk with a zipline , Mega slides, 7 story ropes course, A award wining Bicycle Course they have two courses one for speed and one for Mt. Biking. They also have all kinds of Aquatic sports like Dragon Boat rowing on the river. Besides the River District the downtown is made up of a number of pocket districts that played a key role in the history of the state and the country. Like Film Row with its kitsch restaurants and bars. Oklahoma City at one time was a Major Hub in the Film transportation industry. Film Row was THE location in the country that major studios would view their movies before they were nationally released major stars. Some other neighborhoods you will find is the Plaza District, The Paseo which reminds me of a California art type of District, There is Deep Deuce that used to be the Jazz District which now has the largest population of downtown residents. There is a awesome restaurant in the heart of Deep Duece. Called Deep Duece Grill it has some amazing food. Midtown which is now the hottest spot with Locals there is numerous restaurants night life and activities for all ages in this little District just outside of downtown. Back to Bricktown you missed the National Banjo Museum and The Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame just a couple of those museums when in Oklahoma you have to visit. Bricktown has more attractions like Bowling, and the Movie Theater. If your a Coaster Credit Counter besides Frontier City there is an Incredible Pizza Company that has rides and attractions. Inside they have one of those garden variety SBF Visa Spinning Coasters you find at a lot of Family Entertainment Centers. If I hear anybody that is here in the OKC metro area say they are board I look at them and say you're bored OK come on lets go!
  3. Good report I live about 30 minutes from the park. Yes they do a great job with the park. I hope Six Flags doesn't ruin the park like it did last time. The park besides some decent rides has a very good entertainment line up. They are celebrating the parks 60th so there is a very good special show with a Frontier City song. One of the famed Gun fighters narrates the show which takes you through Music and Pop Culture of the parks existence. They have a long running Magic Show. Two Johns Saloon has two shows A Flea Circus and a smaller more intimate magic show that alternates through out the day. Red Hot Country a Music tribute to Oklahoma Country artists. you can't forget the longest running gun fight in the theme park industry. There is 4 shows through out the day of this action packed stunt show. For a family park you won't get bored when you visit this park. The Soaring Eagle opened up this past weekend the park did great! It's pretty impressive you soar right over the Main Street of the park.
  4. I was walking from Wildcat at Frontier City too Silver Bullet. This was a few days after the big Six Flags announcement So the news was fresh. There was a group of kids behind me who also just got off Wildcat and were heading to Silver Bullet. I overheard in the conversation the kids were talking about theme parks and roller coasters. One kid said to the other kid "well you need to go too a Six Flags park when you have a chance". I turned around and joined into their conversation and said "You are at a Six Flags park." Apparently the kids heard about the news and one of them laughed and another kid said "He is right".
  5. I like the move I know the park will get a addition next season. Just by the Six Flags press release from last year on new attractions. This line stood out to me.. "President and CEO Jim Reid-Anderson. “Our strategy of providing something new in every park, every year, continues to delight our guests". So this guarantees Frontier City will see a new attraction. The park is in desperate need for a tower ride. They have the location with a entrance, queue line and station house for a tower ride. It's the former Eruption location. I don't think the park will be neglected like the last time. For one The park is still owned by EPR who owns Top Golf and Schlitterbahn Parks. EPR has deeper pockets then its former ownership CNL who main focus was sprucing up the park they have done a great job doing that this season. The park is very clean and well maintained and has great operations. So I like having Six Flags take over the management operations of the park once again this time I don't see the park getting neglected like the last time. I think Six Flags will keep the current staff at the park. A lot of them been there the last 5 years and they are truly passionate about the park.
  6. It's my local park. I'm pretty excited about this news. Right now I have A-LOT of questions that will be answered in the coming months. It does sound like business as usual from a operations stand point. I will be going Saturday to speak with some of the Park managers to get what there take is on this recent news. With Fright Fest it already has the same logo etc. as the Six Flags Parks. That was grandfathered in from it's previous ownership. This year they are expanding onto the season with "A Frontier Christmas" So will that be changed too Holiday in the Park? I do have many questions that will be answered in the coming months. The lighter side my GF said DON'T Do it when I told her that "I was going to show up to the parking lot booth this Saturday pool out my FC pass and my SF pass and ask them "Which one do I use?" Anyway I'm excited about this recent news with the two Oklahoma Parks.
  7. I frequent Frontier City and live in the OKC metro area. I'm excited for the event there is numerous Christmas events in the city all of them during the weekends. Like Downtown in December, North Pole Adventure in Midwest City, Chickasha Festival of lights, Bass Pro Shops and Yukon lights. ALL of them are extremely busy it doesn't matter how low the temperature dips in those December evenings. They provide decent enough crowds during the evening and weekends. I'm excited the park will be open in December. I have a very strong feeling they are going to be surprised at how popular the event will be for them. Plus if they market it just right and work with The Sanctuary the premier Haunted attraction that also holds their Very popular Christmas event "Santa's Slay House" . The Sanctuary is just down the street by a few blocks. If the event is done right I bet they will make as much as money as they do with Fright Fest and in return they can start adding some major rides to that park. Right now I know I'm excited for "A Frontier Christmas" .
  8. First time replying...I'm at Frontier City once a week sometimes twice a week. For a small park it is very nice probably one of the most well themed small parks in the nation. The chance inverted is still in operation. I think sometime they don't have enough ride staff to operate the rides so some days certain rides will be closed and others will be open. This has been happening with the, Casino, Round up(Enterprise Ride), The Prairie Schooner (boat) and The Chance Inverted. Now About the Wing Warrior I asked customer service employee about the parrot theme on the Winged Warrior. Apparently they get asked quite a bit and the customer service employee working the guest relations booth where you get your season pass said that it will be re-themed next year to fit the Western Theme. So I'm guessing maybe they will still paint birds my guess the birds will be in the Hawk family motif. She didn't say what will be painted on the ride. It is nice addition to the park. They needed a new ride and she did say the ride fell into their lap right before the season started that originally it was designed and built for a zoo and the zoo backed out after the ride was built. Lucky Frontier City landed a new ride for 2014. They had to remove Hangman because it was a prototype ride that kept breaking down and maintenance on the ride was timely and expensive. The past two years the ride barely worked. I think it was in operation last year for a very very short time. The Wildcat for a classic style woody it is smoother then allot of classic older woodies. I would disagree with you on that coaster. I'm not a fan of Wooden coasters but I like that coaster. I prefer the rear of the coaster and riding the coaster at night is the best. One good thing for nostalgia is being able to ride one of last Shwarzkopf portable Star Looping coasters in operation. The last operating one in the U.S. The ride is incredibly smooth for a looping coaster. I love the little hump before you enter the tunnel that take you to the break run. That a thrill lifting out of your seat pretty cool as you land back your speeding through the tunnel that was added. Nice twist on a legendary historic coaster. They do have some well kept Historic Nostalgic coasters. The Newer built coaster The steel Lasso I believe was reported to be one of the first Vekoma's to use a more comfortable over the shoulder lap restraint. Makes the ride incredibly smooth for a Vekoma Suspended coaster. Those over the shoulder ones can be rough sometimes. They may not have a hyper coaster someday I hope they add a hyper coaster. Right now local people agree by reading posts on their FB page is a another indoor coaster in the Nightmare Mine building and a tower ride to replace the other drop rides they removed over the off season.if they get a tower ride I hope they add a sky screamer swing ride. They can even place it on the footprint area of the defunct Eruption sling ride. THEY have cleaned up the park 10 fold the past years and the employees are the best I had one stop me as he was walking by me he had a green shirt like most employees and asked me how I was enjoying my visit. It through me off for a minute. You never see that at a Theme park. The employees always seem to be in high spirits. I went today after a concert day park was slower. The ride attendant at the Wildcat had everyone sing Happy Birthday to a teenage guest that the family wanted to embarrass She much Obliged got everyone involved even in the ride cue. The employees are always friendly and the park is super clean then it was about 3 years ago. They have updated and refreshed allot of the signage and put new roofs on allot of the buildings. I highly recommend this park if you are visiting OKC. The park is allot busier then it has been in the past I think its due to it's upkeep and staff. I threw a idea at the Park and got a response from the General Manager about a very unique attraction that would bring Theme park Enthusiasts to the park from all over the world. I bet Robb Alvey would pay the park a visit. The General Manager He said they actually talked about doing it and I hope they do the attraction. I just won't share because it would be unique. I want them to get the fame for the idea Frontier City deserves that global recognition. I'm a bit long winded sorry first post.
