  1. Whatever the date... What records do you think Cedar Point is trying to set? Longest coaster (as the high tech blueprints suggest), most wooden inversions, highest, fastest? Personally, I could see steepest, tallest, fastest for sure. Goliath holds that at 180', 85 degrees and 72mph. And, since CP no longer has the goldticket for Best Coaster, maybe trying for that title or at least Best New Attraction? Thoughts? Besides the underwater tunnels and intense darkride/aquatrax section, what do you expect CP will do?
  2. And the scare actors in the queue. Those too. http://screamscape.com/html/islands_of_adventure.htm#Kong Check out the 2/27/16 post. They are getting "entertainers" that we can assume will be the natives. Wonder if they will be in the queue or actually in the ride?
  3. That sounds awesome. I would prefer it in a Jurassic Park format Yeah, I agree. But this would be a great way to bring the action to life. Especially if it's 3D and immersive screens. A live action performer would really bring the action to life. Even if Kong somehow snatched someone from the Jeep, that's less graphic than a person being eaten by a T-Rex right in front of you. But, they did say it's next generation... of traumatizing children.

  5. I know it's still early, but it would be sweet if they brought a "skipper" on board with you. Someone to narrate and keep the riders in touch with a real person. Now, picture this. The jeep stops and all of a sudden the host is pulled from the Jeep! Whether a T-Rex reaches down and eats him from the Jeep (seriously, how sweet would that be!), to the natives pulling them off into the caves. Obviously there would have to be some way for the Jeep to drive itself, but that can be explained in a line of dialogue somewhere about "Eighth Wonder Technology blah blah blah." Or is that gimmick too similar to Disney's Great Movie ride? All in all, I'm excited to see what Universal has come up with.
  6. That's part of the EVAC, platform for Windseeker. Thanks! I gave it a long shot and googled it. A nice interruption to the Raptor VS. Valravn arguments.
  7. I was at Cedar Point August 5th. As we were leaving the All Wheels Extreme show, I saw these two massive yellow structures laying on the beach. They look like they could attach to Windseeker, but I have no idea what they are. Does anyone else have an idea what they are for? What is it?
  8. I'm crazy excited. I will be at the first rider auction and preview night event! It looks like its going to be a great night! It is unfortunate they will not have Maverick open that evening, but should be some great pictures of Rougarou and it's lighting effects. Anyone else attending Friday night?
  9. The only one I can ever remember was riding Voyage at Holiday World. We rode 3 times, with only 2 train wait between rides. I'm young and never gray on coasters, but that day.. I was actually looking where getting sick would cause the least amount of clean up.
  10. This is a great idea. I feel that the Blue Streak is kind of forgotten back there. You see it when you come in, and in line for Raptor, but the entrance is sort of hidden. If they moved the entrance to the right (looking at station) and had a bridge to cross over the coaster and into the queue that could help the visibility of it with the new midway expansion. Whatever is going to happen, it looks like it's going to take a lot of space!
  11. As so many have said, I remember my first trip to EPCOT, and we we were walking by we were like, "oh, there must be a ride there, there is a wait sign." That was all that caught our attention. I must say, watching Anna and Elsa ride it, I can see lots of potential with this ride. There is going to be lots more light and ice added to this ride. There is also going to have to be a massive queue to hold 2 hours of guests. Is this thing going to be a Gringotts with 7+ hours for a few months?
  12. Cedar Point Blog posted some details about Rougarou. Painting has started, www.cedarpoint.com/images/uploads/image/IMG_3957_600.jpg and they have mentioned some special effects! "lighting and fog" will be sweet over the swamp area. The Dragon and Werewolf will be a nice monstrous duo in this area.
  13. I agree! I'm liking the way the park is really trying to maintain and improve their existing lineup. But also, by working hard to (not wanting to sound too Disney-ish) make the park magical. I love parks at night, and with the recent improvements to Power Tower's lights, and Millennium's lift (which lights didn't seems to work for a few years) it's great to see the park getting a facelift as a whole, and not trying to make the focus on THE TALLEST/FASTEST thing that year. A great park for many reasons. I have always liked CP, but I'm even more excited to see where she's going.
  14. Thoughts? You're proposing they re-route the train tracks. For a sign. No Re-Route, but move where the gates come down. all they would move is the sidewalks a little, and it's basically just adding a sidewalk, and moving the crossing gates. No moving of the train tracks.
  15. Curiosity makes me ask this. I have never had a problem finding Mantis, but what do you think if CP also moved the RR crossing about 100 feet closer to Rougarou? That way, everyone sees the signs or crosses right beside the hammer game and are at the entrance to Millennium Force? I mean, they had to put a gate in for Shoot the Rapids, why not just move it and show off their newly renovated ride and ride entrance sign? Thoughts?
  16. ^ True, there are examples. Regardless of what, I'm excited for whatever CP brings
  17. And you know this based on your how many years of experience designing and building roller coasters? I'm just saying this on my experience with CP. This my home park. I have seen them start Big projects like Maverick in September, let alone October. I have also built some sweet K'nex Coasters
  18. It's almost not possible to build a whole NEW coaster there. Mantis would close in October, then they have to demolish it, do all the excavating and foundations, then erect, etc, etc. All that BEFORE June? I don't see it. They would had to have started the demolition process sooner, in my opinion.
  19. What if, if it's a Steel coaster, with the recent removal of Giraffrica there was a coaster splash sequence in the same pond? It would fit with the ship coming to Plymouth Rock and all. What else are they going to use a large shallow concrete pong for? It would also fit the location of the rumored tree clearing around Voyage.
  20. If you watch the video, you will notice it says "Get a good look while you still can because when the fires return..." because we are going to drop you. At that point the video tilts and plummets to the ground. What if, it is some sort of ride that will take you up, drop you and then enter an underground tunnel. But what's so special about that? Well, what if there was some sort of new innovation, like a rotating vehicle. Falcon's Fury rotates, why couldn't this ride? Go up and be like, "Oh how nice" then it rotates and "Oh Crap, we are going where?!?" Just a thought.
