Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Highridin replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, those drop floor slides never get old. -
If this means anything, the president of SFA (Rick Howarth) told me that a lot is going to happen quick over the next 2-3 years at the park. He told me, "With MGM and a few other big economic boosters happening in the area, the park wants to be a part of it." That's a loose quote..lol... I talked to him on opening day while my daughter and I were headed to Wild One. On a side note, my daughter just broke the 54" mark; I was proud...lol.. Her first over 54" ride?; apocalypse. Come on, really? Lol,..she rode all that day, except for JJ of course.

Password, I think you can use only one coupon per person. Though, because u are using different coupons per person, u may be able to use your pass. Not sure. You could always bring a Coke can for back up...lol.. When u go to the park, take a peek at JJ. I swear the launch sounded and looked faster. It may be that it looked that way because no one was on it (they were testing it). Also, I didn't bump around much at all on Roar. Maybe it was the seat I sat in; the third car from the back. Check it out.

What's interesting is that when I was there earlier this year, they were launching both trains but only loading one. Think of all the electricity they were wasting launching empty trains. That's insane. Almost as insane as Roar's "DO NOT TOUCH YOUR RESTRAINTS" policy, and also the brilliant idea of strapping the woodies' seat belts around the lapbar in empty seats. Roar has the worst operations of any ride I've been on. Do not touch your restraints? WHAT? During the ride or during loading? Either way, it's pretty stupid. During loading they tell you over and over not to pull down your lapbar, and that an operator will do it for you. The only thing I can think is that it's so they can more easily check the seatbelt before it gets squashed under the bar, but it's definitely not making things better. I've clocked 4+ minute dispatches. Not cycles, dispatches. 4 min? I've clocked them at an average of 1:45. Must have gotten lucky on those days.

No fast pass needed. I'll admit, lately, Saturday lines have been longer than usual. I have seen the Apocalypse line actually stretch to the middle of the queue. If you get there early, you'll knock everything out, dry ride wise, in a few hours. Good news is that all summer they have been running two trains on everything. Contrary to belief, ops on the coasters move along just fine. I've been timing them all season. About the same on comparable rides at other parks (been to KD, SFGA, SFGAdv, Busch Gardens, and Hershey this year) Batwing loading is pretty slow though. I experienced the same slow ops on superman ultimate flight at SFGA. Damn flying coasters...lol... You will have a good time; I always do.
