  1. That’s why I am somewhat optimistic about a brand new coaster (still keeping my hopes down though). Didn’t Mantis close in October and cedar fair had the conversion done by the parks opening in May? Six flags likes opening attractions late anyway, so I don’t see why Apocalypse is closing so early. Either apocalypse is closing early so that it’s queue can be used for a fright fest maze or it’s actually being scrapped for something new.

  3. A raptor would fit perfect at this park. Low capacity. Something brand new. Only single rail coaster on the east coast. Easily the best or 2nd best coaster in the park. Seems like a lost opportunity to me.
  4. The reason people prefer KD, Hershey and Busch over SFA is because it gets boring really fast. Nothing in the park stands out. You only need about two hours to finish every ride, even on weekends. Superman is like the 5th best coaster in the DMV, and I think it’s borderline mediocre. If apocalypse does become a floorless, I’m curious to see if ridership actually goes up. It’s still a boring layout imo. Unless they redesign the layout or have amazing theming, I can see this being a fail.
  5. Someone brought up the idea of SFA using apocalypse gift shop and queue line for a maze at fright fest and I can definitely see that happening. I would be ok with the floorless conversion IF new minderaser trains were included. Otherwise, a raptor, 4D s&s, or giant frisbee would be fine.
  6. I know six flags likes to be cheap, but this is not a good idea. The layout already sucks, so just adding floorless trains will make it slightly average. I bet you that you will still bang your head after the corkscrew. The GP aren’t stupid and I do think it will be mixed feelings when they find out it’s not actually a new ride, but happy there is no more standing. Also, if they’re gonna add floorless change, they will have to retheme it if they are saying it’s a new ride. The area that it’s in (Chesapeake) is a very vague theme, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is some random theme, like Firebird. Overall, a rmc raptor would be a great choice in its spot and I hope that happens instead.
  7. My bold prediction: apocalypse gets removed for a rmc raptor or s&s 4d. (A raptor would be the best option and would make it the 2nd best coaster in the park, but I don’t see the operations going well. This park deserves more than a 4d but something is better than nothing.) More likely possibilities: -apocalypse transformed into a floorlesss (I hope not, the fire and mist effect has been off for 2 years and it will still be a headbanger) -Apocalypse removed for a skywarp -RMC Roar (everyone wants this to happen but it would’ve closed by now) After the campaign SFA did for wahoo river, I won’t be getting my hopes up again.
  8. After being in wahoo river and KD’s lazy river, KD still has the better river. I think the improvements made wasn’t enough to brand it as a new river. Lots of my friends were underwhelmed, but we didn’t expect much. Hopefully SFA can get a 4D or raptor next year to make up for it.
  9. When I rode Twisted Timbers yesterday, I had my phone and wallet in my pockets and used my phone a bit while in the queue line. I saw the sign that said “no cell phones” but I didn’t know I couldn’t use it in queue line. So I randomly put my phone away one I was done, and a couple seconds later, I see a ride attendant go up to a guest and tell them that cell phones are strictly prohibited but he said it was fine due to the guest having zippers on his pockets. The rule is kinda stupid but it is what it is. With the amount of airtime on TT, I can see many guest not knowing what to expect and easily drop their phone and then complain about it, so this prevents rule prevents all of that from happening.
  10. I’ve been at the park since 10 and I’m glad I rode intimidator in the morning. It’s been closed for most of the day and flight of fear has been down for at least 3 hours. You know Safari village is cursed when anaconda is the only coaster that didn’t break down in the area lol. Timbers was down only for an hour and I finally got to ride it, definitely worth the hype! Also, I’ve heard that volcano will be closed for the rest of the season in order to renovate the mountain and implement a new operating system. Supposedly, KD will inform the public of this within the next week.
  11. Batwing is getting the volcano treatment. There’s a coaster disease spreading around the DMV lol.
  12. Thank you all for your feedback. I have decided to go with KD just because they did the $29.99 ticket sale and I couldn’t pass that up. I’ll just have to catch volcano next year. I may try to fit Hershey in some weekend in late July or August, but thanks!
  13. Debating if I want to go to KD or Hershey....volcano being down is kinda pushing me towards Hershey. Also, I’ve never ridden skyrush.
  14. Anyone know where I can find discounted hershey tickets?
  15. I thought I was the only one who has noticed that rodeo has been tamed down a lot. It used to be my favorite flat ride and would almost make me nauseous, but in a good way. Now it’s almost a glorified tea cup. Coyote creek needs a huge revamp, starting with a raptor replacing minderaser and a new flat ride package .
  16. Any update on Volcano reopening? I plan on going in August and hope that it’s open by then.
  17. in my opinion, minderaser is more tolerable than apocalypse. At least it has a somewhat exciting layout. Even gp and locals hate apocalypse.
  18. Is there a reason why six flags doesn’t do the summer concerts or Batman show anymore? I definitely think it will boost tickets sales. If they’re not going to add a new coaster to the dry side, then I think this a good addition.
  19. Six Flags America making its typical annual healine lol, this time it’s superman.
  20. I dunno, that might not be so bad... the coasters Kentucky Kingdom has added over the past 5 years would have made SFA substantially better... Sorry let me clarify, what I meant is that it could have possibly been sold to another company and be in the same state as Darien Lake or would have closed for a bit like Kentucky Kingdom. Currently Kentucky Kingdom is the better park with lighting run and storm chaser alone lol.
  21. Six Flags as a whole usually doesn’t open their new attractions until Memorial Day weekend or afterwards because they want their customers to keep coming back. Also, I know for a fact most of the gp realizes this park is mediocre and I hear at least one comparison to another park each visit. They may not know that they’re 13+ Six Flags parks, but they know of KD and other superior surrounding parks.i always hear “these rider always break down” “intimidator is better than superman”. I’ve even seen a tweet stating, “don’t you guys get tired of riding the same rides over and over again”. The GP is well aware that the park needs a new coaster and can get boring quickly, but they tolerate it since it’s the closest park to them. If KD was only 30 mins away, SFA would have turned into Darien Lake or Kentucky kingdom.
  22. Imagine a rmc raptor themed to flash...
  23. I still think Batwing is a decent flyer (better than the Superman clones), but I just noticed an unusual rattle/vibration throughout the whole ride with the gray train. The purple train is just fine though.
  24. Maybe it’s just the gray train that was barely used last year, but Batwing definitely felt rougher. I felt like I was getting a back massage the whole ride.
  25. Regarding Intimidator305... Let me preface this by saying that I really do love this ride and would place it high among the "elite" coasters I've ridden. It's wildly intense, super fast, and has some of the most mind-numbingly awesome transitions outside of Maverick. That said, I guess I still just don't "get it" the way some people seem to--especially those who refer to it as perfect. I've probably ridden it upwards of fifteen times in all different types of weather and in all different seats and rows, and I still can't shake the feeling that the first drop is a bit of a letdown. Don't get me wrong...the pullout of the drop into the first airtime hill is bonkers, but the drop itself has always been kind of "meh" for me. I would compare it to something like riding Lex Luthor or one of the other huge Intamin drop towers: sure, it's a big drop and it's great, but it somehow doesn't have the kick to it that one of the Larson towers has. Similarly, I find I305's drop to pale even in comparison to something like Grizzly just across the park, which seems to leave your stomach 90 feet in the air while the rest of your body falls into the forest. Also, I still haven't been able to get past the fact that the last 1/3rd of Intimidator feels very Great Bear-ish in the sense that it's essentially just a long preamble to the brake run. Once the train hits that trim coming into the first of the lower airtime hills parallel to the lift, the ride is essentially over, with all the relentlessness sucked from the experience. Sure, you get one last quick side-to-side transition, but I cannot help but wonder how much fun the end of the ride would be without the heavy trim. And look, I get that trims are necessary, but they don't necessarily need to neuter the ride experience. I think of a coaster like Diamondback, for instance. Trims galore, but you still feel like it's running the way it was designed to run. I still feel like the end of I305 was supposed to be bat-out-of-hell awesome, but instead is just okay. And for me, it's that lack of awesomeness where it seems that awesomeness should be prevalent that hurts so much. I'd almost prefer it just rocketed into a Leviathan-esque brake run at the top of that first airtime hill--then at least it would feel like you're going out with a bang. I don't know. Just one man's opinion. I really do love the thing, just not as much as some, apparently. I always wondered why the trim break wasn’t placed right after the airtime hill instead of before because the trim really kills it, but it is what it is, still a phenomenal coaster.
